| Gabber, Speedcore and Nu Skool Gabber are all types of hardcore-style rave music that are nothing like the cheesy happy stuff you may already be familiar with. Gabber (not Nu Skool) first emerged from Holland and Belgium around 10 years ago. It was very hard and fast (often 180 BPM plus), almost exclusively in 4 4 time, and sometimes took influences from thrash metal. Speedcore developed from this style, which was essentially the same as Gabber except much faster (typically 230-250 BPM and sometimes more). Nu Skool Gabber is similar except it's much slower (normally between 140 and 170 BPM), does not gain influence from thrash metal, and although retaining its 4 4 time signature, has adopted a distinctive galloping style to the beats. I think I like such aggressive, essentially tuneless music in addition to other, tuneful songs (see my other musical tastes!) because my brain needs a challenge - I don't seem to be content with 'easy listening', predictable melodies all the time, I seem to need complex, clashing notes to tax my mind! Plus it's very energetic music, and it's therefore very useful for venting and focusing anger safely. My favourite Gabber tunes are: * Pien an de Eure - Hooihouse * Hardcore Bells - D-Boy My favourite Speedcore tunes are: * BRBROB GEE SUCK MY BEAT - D-Boy * Fukem Outro - Jappo & Lancinhouse * Aggravated Violent Assault - Deathchant * Be Gone - Audiovoid My favourite Nu Skool Gabber tunes are: * King of the Beats - Scott Brown * Circuits Activated - Scott Brown & Neophyte * Stealin Beats - Placid K * Black Magic - Scott Brown & Neophyte * Neighbourhood Crime - Bodylotion * It's Been a Long Time - Placid K |
