A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN AMERICAN HUMMINGBIRD
Poetry Page 1
On your throat a spot of red reflected in the light. Metallic green upon your head, tail feathers dipped in white. Bugs and nectar are your goal You search throughout the day. Like a plane, you dive and roll and chase others away. Fear is not a word you know Some say you're not too bright. Dashing, darting to and fro In youth we do delight.

HUMMINGBIRD POEM
Clouds flash and open In a roar, to pour Its liquid content, But she seems unconcerned As her thoughts are only Of the clear nourishment Inside a plastic flower. Just a momentary visit Before racing off To a brushy shelter And her ever-hungry hatchlings. With a flutter and a fluff Shes off again, dashing, In search of nips of gnats For her growing brood; Her perpetually ritual.

To A Hummingbird Lover by Marsha After working all day behind a desk I come home from work and sit on my deck While most people play with their hi tech I know I'm a nerd but what the heck I put on red and clear my mind I'm looking at birds but wanting one kind I wait and watch til I'm sure I've heard The chirp and hum of my favorite bird After dinner all evening I sat and enjoyed The hummingbirds wishing I was unemployed Tomorrow I'll go back to work all wired And hope for more hummers when I retire
