Appointment #1- September 9th -
At 9 weeks we had our first appointment where we got to meet the
doctor and have our first ultrasound!
|
 |
Appointment #2 - October 2nd -
Before our next appointment with our regular doctor, we decided to
get our CVS
at 12 weeks instead of waiting for an amniocentesis
later in the 2nd trimester. Before the CVS, we were treated to
another ultrasound! The results of the CVS determined that the baby
was chromosomally normal...yeah!! We also found out that we're
having a boy!
|
 |
With our great CVS results and happily in our
2nd trimester, we started letting our little secret out to the rest
of the world. :-)

 |
Appointment #3 - October 7th -
Our second monthly appointment with our regular doctor was short but
sweet...we got to hear the baby's heartbeat with the Doppler. He was
movin' and groovin' with a healthy heartbeat.
|
 |
Appointment #4 - November 3rd -
At 17 weeks, we had another quick visit with the doctor to check on
our progress. Everything was great and we got to hear the baby's
heartbeat on the Doppler again. We also had our AFP
test...at this point, we haven't gotten any reports back, so it's
looks good.
|
 | Appointment #5 - November 17th
- We had our second
level ultrasound. It was amazing to see the baby in such great
detail. They looked at the heart, brain, stomach, kidneys, liver, arms,
legs, hands, toes, everything! They checked it all out for size, form, and
function. We're happy to report that all looked normal and healthy. Needless
to say, we were thrilled with the experience as well as the results. Check
out the ultrasounds of just some of what we
saw. We also got a video of the ultrasound and are working on getting that
converted to a DVD.
|
 | Appointment #6 - December 1st -
At 21 weeks, we had another quick visit with the doctor to check on
our progress. Everything was great and we got to hear the baby's
heartbeat on the Doppler again. Had out routine list of
questions...still don't know which hospital we're going to have the baby at
yet. The decision is between Stanford and
Sequoia hospitals. We'll be
taking tours soon to check out both birthing centers. We'll know at 32 weeks
how things are going. If there are any complications, we'll probably go with
Stanford.
|
 | Appointment #7 - January 5th - At 25
weeks, we had another quick visit with the doctor. He measured my belly and
blood pressure and all was right on target. At this time, we also had the
glucose test for gestational diabetes as well. After testing a bit high on
the first one, we took the second test and passed. Phew!
|
 | Appointment #8 - February 3rd. At 30
weeks, we had another quick visit with the doctor. All is well...
|
 | Appointment #9 - February 24th. At 33
weeks, we had another ultrasound to see the
baby's size, position, and weight as well as the position of the placenta.
All looked good although his head is measuring the size of a 35 weeker! He's
about 4 pounds and looks healthy, alert (despite his alien-close up ultrasound!),
and well positioned for a vaginal birth (head down). He was moving around in
plenty of amniotic fluid and even had his eyes open. :-) We also made the
decision to have him at Sequoia
Hospital in Redwood City.
|
 | Appointment #10 - March 10th. At 35
weeks, we had another quick visit with the doctor. All is well...
|
 | Appointment #11 - March 24th. At 37
weeks, we had another ultrasound to check on
the baby's size. The doctor was concerned he was a bit big, so he measured
the head, abdomen, and femur again. All looked good although his head was
measuring 39 weeks (9 cm)...this was a concern for me for sure! :-) He's
roughly about 7 pounds 10 ounces and is looking bigger in the ultrasound!).
|
 | Appointment #12 - March 31st. At 38
weeks, we had another quick visit with the doctor. All is well...The
doctor's going on vacation next week, so we won't be having an exam next
week.
|
 | Appointment #13 - April 13th. At 39
weeks, we had yet another ultrasound to check the baby's size. He's doing
well and I'm happy to report that his head has not grown in size! However,
his abdomen and femur were measuring larger, so he's filling in. According
to the measurements, he's roughly over 8 pounds. Of course, ultrasound
measurements can go a pound either way, so he may be 9 pounds or 7 pounds.
He also checked my cervix and things aren't happening yet...no dilation, so
it doesn't look as if he's going to be here early.
|
 | April 15th - the due date - came and went, so it looks
like he needs more time before joining us on the outside.
|
 | Appointment #14 - April 20th.
At 40 1/2 weeks, we had a visit with the doctor. While he was interested in
inducing a week past the due date, we negotiated more time. The doctor
doesn't want to go more than two weeks past the due date because of the health of
the baby, so in the meantime, we'll be going to the hospital for non-stress
tests two times a week. We also had another ultrasound that showed there
was plenty of amniotic fluid. He checked my cervix again and things are
still not happening yet...no dilation, so
it doesn't look as if he's going to be soon.
|
 | Appointment #15 - April 22nd.
We had our first non-stress test at the hospital. The baby's heart rate and
movement were great and showed he is doing well. No inducing at this
point...
|
 | Appointment #16 - If he doesn't
arrive before then, our non-stress test is Monday, April 26th. Stay tuned!
