| Mark was born in Vancouver, BC in December 1972 to Diane and Ron. Later the family moved to Prince George, BC. In July 1977 Mark's brother Greg was born. At the age of eleven, Mark joined the Navy League Cadet Corps of Canada, and discovered his passion in life - the sea. Once Mark reached 13, he transferred to the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps, and attended HMCS QUADRA for the first time. At The Q, Mark learned much more about sailing, responsibility, leadership, the Royal Navy, and life. Quadra was such an amazing place to Mark that he attended Summer Camp there every year until he aged-out of the RCSCC in 1991. After a year's time, Mark returned to his home corp, 158 GRIZZLY, and joined to officer corps. In 1993 he was commissioned in the Royal Canadian Navy as an Acting-Sub Leiutenant in the CIC. Mark still loved Quadra so much he returned as a staff officer every summer thereafter... |
