The Study of Corruption

I sat on the train
On my journey home
Looking about those around me
A student sat close at hand
Studying the subject
Of media and the Press
I had to roll my eyes
I wanted to say
If only I have the nerve!
Girl, want to learn all about it?
You need only to study two words ~
Corruption and deceit!
'Cause they're full of it!
Through the world's tragedies
And a few of my own
A painful lesson I've been taught ~
They thrive on the misery of others!
They exploit and sodomise!
The minds of those they interview
And nothing ever gets done!
As "the story" turns into a political war
We must win the elitist vote
No matter who we burn!
At the cost of my brother's life....
Damn the Press
And all it represents!

" I was sitting on a train and noticed a student next to me studying the media. I wanted to say something to her, but instead I wrote this poem. And so these lines reflect the anger I felt towards the media who appear to feed off the misfortune of others like parasites of society. They never cared about the men of Kew Cottages before, so why now? Because it is a story, and we are just faces to them. They are not interested in the feelings of the family. They appear to only care enough for the juicy details. But they turn it to blame the government for lack of safety or whatever...and so begins the political war. Where are we in the midst of this? Faceless and nowhere. We do not matter for it is just a story to them, another bullet to fire at the government, another attack....another story. I hated what they did with my family and Peter's memory. He was not their brother so why should they care? The Study of Corruption is the age-old political war between governments that always was and always will be."
