Soul Sisters Forever in the Heart
This is so hard to do sweet Cherie,
Wish you farewell, and say good-bye.
To my Melbournite friend
Sure, we'll still email, and talk over the phone.
But it's not the same as a physical hug,
And kisses from my God daughter.
You inspire me, to no end
With your courage to overcome hardship.
Your loyalty to your family, and friends,
And morals like my own.
We're soul sisters, girlfriend!
And it's breaking my heart that you're going,
Though I understand why.
You have my 100% support!
No matter what you do!
Or where you go?
I will always be with you
In spirit, in love
In email, and over the phone too.
Stay in touch please Cherie,
Coz you are one of the best kinds of friend, a girl could ask for
And your daughter is a stunning reflection
Of your inner, and outside beauty,
She looks just like her mum!
With eyes innocent and wide,
Her spirit of fun and adventure
Her love and compassion,
Caring for you, her mother, as only a two-year-old can.
But with great insight,
Which has truly amazed me!
No wonder, she shows such intelligence and awareness
Because she is Cherie's daughter.
As you leave, and take on this new adventure
Please know, my prayers and kind thoughts are packed with you,
In your suitcase!
And forever in your heart.
Of course, in your struggle
To create a new life,
For you and Hayley
Please know, I'm just a phone call away
Or a short car ride,
If you need to talk?
Seek encouragement?
Or some extra inspiration, to keep on going
You know you'll get it from me.
My dearest Cherie,
This is so hard to write.
To say good-bye, to our Melbourne lifestyle
Of girl's nights together,
And some, with the boy Andrew too!
Seeing Hayley regularly,
Watching her grow
I'm gonna miss that so.
I can't imagine how hard it is for you,
Dearest Cherie,
To let this all go, and start again.
But I have faith, you'll make it work
Your independence is so strong!
In no time you'll be happy and content,
For you and Hayley,
With your new life in Armidale.
Of course, you'll have visits from us!
And others, I'm sure
For the way you've touched lives in Melbourne,
And the blessing you are
To all who know you,
And your beautiful Hayley.
Everyone can't help but love you two!
I consider you a blessing from God,
A gift in my life,
Whom I praise and thank Him for
My prayers of thanks, I give to God
I also extend a request?
To look after my soul sister,
And beautiful God daughter,
On your journey to Armidale,
And your settling in there.
I even pray for Darren,
That he will cope without you.
And not be too difficult,
For those left behind.
But don't you stress, sweet Cherie
For we will handle him
With God's help,
We'll all be all right.
As I sit here, writing, pondering over the years
The times we've shared,
I'm in awe,
Over the incredible honesty and openness we have.
Accepting each other, through so much
We didn't just survive it we lived it!
Where others would have broken up,
And their friendship dissolved in tatters!
We stayed strong and united!
Against all odds
This unconditional love we share
Shall go on forever
Coz God blessed us, when we met in Anz
I felt the connection, way back then
And I know you did too.
Our friendship is destiny,
Can't argue that!
Oh sweet Cherie,
I don't want to end this poem of farewell
Though I physically can't write forever,
All the words in the world,
Don't adequately express,
The feelings in my heart
For you, sweet Cherie, and my beautiful Hayley.
Though, I hope this poem gives you a glimpse
Of just how much you two mean to me,
And, of course, Andrew too
For though we're apart,
In spirit we'll always be.
Farewell my friend, as you leave
You know you're taking a piece of me with you,
In your heart
Look after me, and I'll take very special care
Of the piece of you,
That shall always be with me.

"This poem is for my soul sister Cherie who moved from Melbourne to Armidale New South Wales to get away from a then destructive relationship she had with her ex. Now that they've separated they have a much better relationship as friends than they ever had as lovers. They will always be in touch with each other as they share a gorgeous little daughter Hayley. I love Cherie and Hayley like family, and this poem is for them."
