Everything Happens for a Reason

You make a comment,
Remember my father
Feel like I'm answering him,
But it appears I'm screaming!
I wanna prove myself,
To you, to him, to me!
It's bizarre, how
One little sentence,
Brings back so much of my past.
Pain, hurt, tears and fear,
I didn't know were there?
But in understanding myself,
I'm glad I found them.
How to turn them into friends?
Whom I can learn, grow and share from,
So thanks for the lesson.
Self development,
You didn't even know you were doing?
But everything happens for a reason,
You said so yourself.
Your reason,
My being me.
Fate has a hand in this.
How much further will we travel?
How much deeper into me?
Enjoy the journey,
And thank God,
For these little miracles,
Of happenstance.
As I continue working on me
I say thank-you, to you, through prayer.

"Ever had someone make a comment to you that sets your emotions on fire and you react quite violently almost. A comment that just sparks up so much raw emotion it almost takes you by surprise. Imagine what better people we could all be if we took those moments and dealt with whatever feeling it brings up in us so that the next time someone makes a comment like that, we won't react so defensively. This poem is just about that and trying to learn and grow from such an experience, enjoy, learn and tell me what you think through my guestbook, thanks."
