  Andrew's 31st Birthday Poem

My darling it’s your birthday
My prayer for you today
Is may you be happy and well

Making the most out of this celebration
Intimate times we share
Caring for one another
Not just on our birthdays

But every day of the year
Is a celebration of our love
Whom we thank for
From God above

I know this last year has been tough
Our relationship has been tested
But we’ve come through it together
All the more stronger and richer

For our foundation is strong
And we’ll always get along
Till the end of time
No matter what life throws us

We handle it together
Including my current lack of gift
All I can afford for now
Is this poem and card

With lots of love
And a promise for tomorrow
When I am rich
I’ll be spoiling you

As you spoil me in your love
I suppose this tough time
Has taught me what real treasures are
Not in your bank balance
But what’s in your heart
Money can’t buy it all
Not true love, good health
And genuine friendship

These are things you acquire
Some you can contribute to
But some is just life’s cards
Dealt you for the lesson

Learn and grow what you can
And become better for it
As we have in our relationship

The lesson for today my love
Is to enjoy and savor the moment
I really hope your 31st is as memorable
As your 21st except with a lot more love

Happy birthday sweetheart
Loving you now and forever

"Andrew's birthday cannot go by without a poem from me. If I can't do a birthday poem for my hubby dearest, then what kind of poet am I? This birthday of Andrew's was the first birthday after my dad died, and I was between jobs, at the time. It was a particularly difficult time for us financially, and relationship wise, as we were both suffering in our grief, over loosing my dad. But just because someone dies, doesn't mean that life stops! Birthdays are still celebrated and those left behind must continue on living. So in this poem, that's what we're doing, and I'm expressing my love for Andrew, the best way (G rated) that I can, in written form. Happy birthday honey, with many more returns, celebrated and shared together."
