Addiction Infliction

Take me to the city,
I want another fix.
Oh no, youve got the bad batch
Death has come too quick

My friend,
I thought you were off it?
This habit, I thought youd kicked!
But it seems this addiction
Has a vice~like grip.

Never dealt with the reasons why
You took the drug to begin with.
So this nightmare continues on
Like a really bad B Grade flick.

Oh why were you not honest?
Reach out, I was there.
Didnt you know I cared?
Wanna help you, now its too late

All I can do now is wonder.
Speculate on what drew you near.
What problem was so big?
Your reality had to become haze like.

Time to die, say good-bye,
Such a waste, so young, no fair!
Your name is added to the statistics.
No feelings, just another digit,
On this ever growing list

Take me back
To Tuesday morning.
Driving to another fix,
I would prefer they drove you
Straight to my heart.

Talk about what started it.
Try to resolve it
Without the white powder,
Narcotic gain, deadly loss.

But we cant recapture time
Take death back.
Were not ready!
Instead, the steady flow
Of mourners build up.

In this tiny chapel,
A small gathering of friends.
Pay their last respects,
For Peters end.

As a family split up
The measly belongings you left.
Everything else sold to the pusher,
Your riches now his.

Im filled with regret.
This death, so unfair!
I say good-bye
Cant kiss your cheek,
Cant bear to look death in the eye.

Leave a marijuana leaf on your body.
Out smoking is how you want to leave.
She must oblige,
Since telling everyone why never eventuated.

How not to let your death
Be in vain?
I dont know how
Maybe, stop the secrets?

Speak out
Cause of death.
No matter how uncomfortable
It makes others feel.
We must reveal!

Show them heroin
As the killer she really is.
No party trick!
This hit miss,
She left you for dead!
Alone on a park bench
Yesterdays trash, no dignity!

If your story I tell,
Stops one kid
From becoming a statistic,
Its worth our shame.

For their gain
Dear Reader,
Dont call the dealer.

"This is an anti-drug poem for a friend who died from a heroin overdose. Its a cry for us who are alive to be aware and stay away from the drug addiction trap. If this poem stops one person from trying it, staying on it, moving to get off the drug, then my mission, within this poem is complete. Just say no to drugs!"
