A Picture from The Church of St George in Madaba, Jordan |
While on our tour of Jordan, We stopped to see the Church of St George where there is a map of Israel from the crusader period made of mosaic tile on the floor. I happened to look up to see the rest of the church and saw this picture hanging from one of the columns. I was amazed. It appears to be a computer enhancement of the Shroud of Turin. I have no idea where they got it from, but its great! |

Jerusalem Peace March '99 |
During the Succot, or the Feast of Tabernacles, there was a Christian seminar in Jerusalem with all kinds of lectures and vendors. It ended with a parade for the peace of Jerusalem in a park just south of the old city. There were all kinds of banners and singers of several different nationalities. Due to the threat of terrorists, some soldiers were asigned to guard us. It ended in an area that looked toward Jerusalem with a representative from each nationality present to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. It was really good. |

This white, Rocky outcropping is unusual since most limestone in the area is reddish from iron content. A Englishman named Gordon found it a few hundred yards outside the Damascus gate in the late 1800's. You can see three small caves but not the wide shallow cave underneath. Gordon saw and photographed two of the caves that appearred to be eyes and the wide cave beneath was the mouth, so he assumed it to be Golgotha, or "The Skull", the place where Jesus was crucified. Around to the left in the same outcropping, he found an empty tomb. |

The Garden Tomb |
This is the tomb that Gordon found. Soon afterward the land around the tomb was purchased and a garden was planted. There are walkways and several areas for church services to be held, as well as, of course, Easter Sunrise Services. When we were there, some repairs were underway in preparation for the millenium, hence, the scaffolding |
