Liz's Trip to France - May 2001
According to my travel journal, the picture on the right was taken on May 7th at about 3750m above sea level.  It's the only picture I have of myself in all the pictures I took.  You can see all the ice in the background, and if you look carefully, that is really part of the mountain, L'Aiguille du Midi.  I went all the way to the top, 3842m high.  The breathing is none too easy up there.
I wish I'd been able to get more pictures in the Cimetiere Pere Lachaise, but my camera was acting up.  The cat on the left didn't seem to mind the cold, damp weather that day though.  One thing that did strike me about that cemetary was the number of tombs that reminded me of concrete outhouses.  It was like the resting place for good backhouses.  I'm sure most people won't get the joke (or appreciate it).
