The Salesman

Look,
Im a salesman,
not a babysitter.
I dont mind
entertaining your kids,
maybe teaching them a bit,
but Ill try to sell them something.
Thats my purpose.
I dont mind
telling you the news
or helping you relax,
but I want to sell you something.
Remember,
thats my job.
And while were on the subject,
I wish youd realize
that the programs you object to
are my bosses fault,
not mine.
I just repeat the things
that they think youll want to hear,
yet you blame me for your troubles,
say I drag the world downhill.
I am not a villain,
not a monster
or a demon.
Im a salesman,
a messenger.
Im your television.
