You may be reading this at www.fictionpress.net. I’m debating whether to post it there. Regardless, I would like feedback on this new story. I’m sort of going to just dive right in. Here goes nothing...

prologue
“Lights, camera, action!” God, I get sick of hearing those words after awhile. Sure, I love to act and I love my career and I love my co-workers, but after awhile, the same routine is wearing. Acting is my passion, but that doesn’t mean that the fat ass director is. People treat Hollywood stars like we’re all fake. Well, physically, that is often the case, isn’t it? I’m just not like that, so keep an open mind. My life is real, I have a real family with real friends like anyone else. People say acting is as fake as wrestling. A wrestler would be the daylights out of anyone who uttered such a thing. It’s almost the same as with acting, except we would just be offended. I don’t think I could really beat the daylights out of anyone. Well, some people--- oh, well you get what I mean.
Enough about acting. Let me explain the nitty gritty details of me. Whether we want to admit it or not, I’m the focal point here and so let’s just get that straight. I’m five feet-seven inches, one hundred twenty pounds, and I have blondish hair and brown eyes. Contrary to what my description may lead one to believe, I don’t have a size Z cup or something. I’m not into the surgery thing, it’s just a little unsettling. I haven’t had any facials, but that’s because I’m only twenty-six.
Born and bred in Goldwaters, TN. Yep, Elvis’ land. I didn’t actually live near there, but I can say I did. My parents were wealthy enough and I was your average kid. A confirmed Catholic, a member of the National Honor Society, and somewhat active in my high school drama club. I’d focused most of my time choosing the right school. What I didn’t know was that I was wasting my time.
Everything changed when I turned seventeen. Not on my birthday necessarily, but here’s the scoop. I’d always aspired to be a doctor, like my father. I’d always looked up to him until the day he and my mom got in a car accident. He was a pediatrician, and I later learned he was an alcoholic. I’m not saying he physically beat me or my mom, but he was messed. The “late nights at the office” were the late nights at the bar. I was so devastated. He didn’t survive the accident, and my mom was severely injured from it. I still can’t forgive him and it was the big conflict between me and my mother. She barely survived the accident and encouraged me to continue my original dream, to be a doctor like Dad. I refused and walked out. My home life had already ended at age seventeen.
That’s when I came out here, to Hollywood. I brought my savings, which was initially meant for college, and my suitcase. I started out like any two bit actress would. After several commercials for ‘Bubbly Slurpies’ and ‘Sunshiny Day Suntan lotion’ , I finally earned a spot on Catch Me, a new soap opera on CBS. Not too shabby for a two bit actress, I guess. People have their opinions about soap operas too, but let’s not go there.
I received the role of Emma Steele, the luscious girl-next-door type. I played the mysterious character with no real last name for the first few weeks. As I drew myself into the series, I am now a regular with a last name. I’d laugh about it, but that one role was the spark that got me into this mess.
Oh, by the way... if you were wondering, my name is Lena... Lena Jones.
