JC looked from the room where Paula was and back to Randy, “What did you say her name was?”

“Paula…why?” he asked. JC just shook his head and went in the direction of the room, “Wait, JC why are you going into my girlfriend’s room?”

Cynthia was walking by JC and the man he was talking to when she caught the last part of their conversation. ‘His girlfriend?’ She asked herself, ‘I bet Paula was cheating on him.’ She walked right into Paula’s room as the doctor was checking her out.

            “How could you?” Cynthia asked once the doctor left the room. Paula looked up at Cynthia, confusion written all over her face, “Don’t play stupid with me Paula. JC knows everything so you might as well come clean about it.”

            Paula looked Cynthia dead in the eyes, “Cynthia,” she said trying to keep her nerves about her, “I have no idea what you are talking about. Now if you don’t mind, I’d like to be alone.” Paula said before trying to turn over.

            “Well, make it fast, JC AND Randy are on their way in.” Cynthia made her way out of the room just as JC and Randy began another heated conversation.

            “What do you mean she’s your girlfriend?!” JC asked getting within inches of Randy’s face, “We barely broke up 7 months ago!”

            “Well we’ve been seeing each other off and on for almost 3 years but sexually only the last 8 months.”

            The rage flashed in JC eyes, “That bitch has been cheating on me for almost the entire time we went out!” he balled up his hands into fists and never broke his gaze from Randy, “And you…you knew that I was dating her and you still went after her!”

            Randy put his hands up in defense, “Josh, man, I had no idea that you and she were dating…honest man. I would never do that to you.”

            “You lying son of a bitch!” JC said stalking closer to Randy, “It’s all clear to me. You were at that party…the party that Liz and Lance had shortly after they got married. I introduced you to her and you guys hit it off well…I had no idea it was that well that she would cheat on me.” Lance had to keep JC back from pounding Randy into the ground.

            “She told me that you guys had broken up.”

            “I know what it is now…” Cynthia said pulling Liz away from talking to the doctor and off to the side after she heard what Randy said.

            “You know what, what is?” Liz asked obviously confused

            “What Paula is hiding from JC…from all of us.” Cynthia said excitedly then she stopped, “this is going to crush Josh.”

            “Umm, lost person here.” Liz said pointing to herself, “please fill the lost person in as to why Josh will be crushed and what exactly Paula is hiding from us.”

            Cynthia sat down and motioned for Liz to sit next to her, “Randy’s girlfriend is Paula.”

Liz gasped, “What…are you sure…how do you know?”

“Randy said it himself.” Cynthia said, “I overheard part of their conversation and as JC was going into Paula’s room Randy asked JC was he was going into his girlfriend’s room.”

            “Lance,” JC began, “if you know what’s best you’ll move out of the way.”

“I’m not moving until you calm the hell down!” Lance said still standing in between Randy and JC.

JC glared at Randy and turned to walk away. As he walked towards the waiting room he mumbled, “I can’t believe she lied to me.”

Liz and Cyn looked up from their conversation just as JC walked by them, “Come on, we’re leaving.”

“You think he knows?” Cynthia asked

“I think so…” Liz said

            Before Lance left to go back to where everyone was he spoke to Randy, “It’d be a good thing if you got this all straightened out…and soon”

            “Believe me I will!” Randy said

            “And do it before JC has a chance to call his lawyers and get full custody of his daughter.” He walked away

            Randy let the last part of what Lance sink in before it hit him, “This baby might not be mine…” he said out loud as he walked into Paula’s room.

            “Paula, we have to talk…” Randy said as he pulled a chair next to her bed

            “About what?” she asked.

            “Josh was here and he said that you guys were still together…is that true?”

            Paula looked at him and nodded her head, “We were together but that ended almost 8 months ago.”

            “Then who is the father of the baby?”

            “I don’t know.” Paula said, “I only told him that I was pregnant and that he could be the father because he could provide much better than we could ever dream of.”

            “You never had any intentions of telling me that there was a possibility that I wasn’t the father, did you?”

            Paula sighed, “I didn’t know how to tell you.”

“How about, ‘Randy, Josh and I were together while I was with you. I was cheating on him with you and he could be the father of this baby.’”

“I thought about saying that, but I didn’t know how you would take it,” she said, “I love you so much and I want us to be together, but I don’t see having children in our life plan.”

“Did you ever think that I possibly wanted children? That I saw us having children and being a family in our future?” Paula shook her head, “So how can you possibly think that we could ever continue to be together without thinking about what I would possibly want?”

A nurse lightly knocked on the door and opened it a bit, “The doctor said you are free to go, I just need to unhook everything.” Paula nodded her head and Randy moved out of the way, “The doctor also wants you to seriously take it easy. The baby is fine, but that doesn’t mean that you can continue to push yourself.”

“I know…” Paula sighed, “I’ll take it easy from now on.”
