‘Who is she talking to?” Cynthia thought to herself, “Ok, if you need anything give a holler.” Cynthia said walking away.

Paula didn’t say anything, she just went back to her phone conversation. “Randy, what the hell are you doing in town?!” she practically yelled, but kept her voice down in case anyone else was up stairs.

‘Randy?’ Cynthia thought to herself as she walked down the stairs, ‘how does she know Randy?’

“So how is she?” JC asked, “Does she need anything?”

“She’s okay and she said she didn’t need anything right now.” Cynthia said sitting down, “Does Paula know Randy?”

JC looked at her, “Not that I know of…why do you ask?”

“Just wondering, that’s all.” Cynthia said still thinking about what she heard.

“Well, Randy?!” Paula asked again.

“I wanted to see you. It’s been a month and I got a few weeks off from work to see how you’re doing and if these friends of yours are treating you and the baby right.” He laughed as he said the last part.

“Well, I’m fine and the baby is fine too.” Paula said, “I went to the doctor and it’s a girl.”

“A girl,” Randy repeated, “Have you thought of any names yet?”

“No I haven’t,” she said, “We’ve been doing a lot here and this is actually the first time that I’ve had a chance to think much about of anything.” She yawned.

“Oh, sweetie, you must be tired.” Randy said as he heard her yawn again, “I’ll let you go and maybe another time we can go out. I love you.”

“Ditto.” She said as she clicked off her cell. She got up, flushed the toilet, washed her hands and face and walked back downstairs.

“Feeling any better?” Karen as she looked up from her magazine.

“A little.” Paula said, “Where did Josh and Cynthia go?”

“Over to Liz’s house to pick up some things for you and the baby.” Karen said with a smile.

Paula nodded her head and walked out the kitchen’s sliding doors onto the patio and sat in one of the chairs and stared into space.

“Josh, tell me again why Paula didn’t come with you?” Liz asked as she put some baby clothes in the baby bag.

“She wasn’t feeling well.” Josh simply stated as he played with Adriana, “I guess the pregnancy is taking more of a toll on her body than she cares to have other believe.”

Liz nodded her head and packed more things into other bags, “Randy called me earlier today.”

“Yeah, called me too.” Josh said, “Do you know what he wants?”

“To meet up with us for lunch or something like that.” Liz said, “I believe he said tomorrow, but Lance and I have plans.”

Josh nodded his head; his mind clearly wasn’t there. His mind was in a whole other place. He was thinking about what Cynthia asked him earlier in the day. About whether Paula knew Randy. “Did Randy ever say the name of his girlfriend?”

Lance looked up from the TV and thought a moment before he answered, “Not that I know of,” he turned and looked at Liz, “Did he say anything about his girlfriend on the message he left?” Liz shook her head no.

“Where is Randy from?” Cynthia asked out of nowhere

“He lived here in Orlando until about 2 and a half years ago.” Lance said, “He moved to California shortly after Liz and I got married.”

Cynthia nodded and looked at Josh, “and where did Paula move to once she broke up with you?”

“What’s with the sudden interest in them?” Josh asked cocking an eyebrow at her

Cynthia just shrugged her shoulders, “Just wondering that’s all.”

“She moved back to her place in Cali.” Liz said

Paula sat outside on the swinging patio swing and decided that she would take Randy up on his offer for dinner. She got up and went back inside to call him again. Karen was sitting in the kitchen when she overheard part of Paula’s conversation is the hallway between the kitchen and the side stairs that lead upstairs.

“Yes Randy, I’ll meet you for dinner tonight.” Paula said

Randy smiled at the fact of seeing his girlfriend for the first time is nearly 2 months. “Ok, I’ll pick you up in a couple of hours…”

Paula cut him off before he could finish, “No, it’s ok, I’ll meet you at The Red Lobster on Main and Beach in 45 minutes.”

“Ok, I’ll see you then.” He said, “I love you.”

“I know.” Paula said before hanging up and walking into the kitchen.

Karen went back to acting like she was reading her magazine and looked up when Paula walked in, “Are you hungry, sweetie?”

“Oh, no thank you.” Paula said, “I’m meeting a friend for dinner in about 30 minutes.”

Karen nodded her head, “I’ll tell Josh. Have a nice time.”

Josh looked at Cynthia, “I know you better than that Cyn…when you ask probing questions like that you’re up to something.”

“Jesus Joshua, I was just wondering!” Cynthia asked throwing her hands up in defeat, “If it makes you this uncomfortable, I won’t bring them up anymore!” she got up and walked out of the room.

Lance looked at Josh, “Hey man, what’s the deal?”

“I know, she was just asking, but you guys don’t know Cyn like I do.” He said shaking his head, “I just wanted to know why she wanted to know about them.”

“Well, it’s not like Randy’s girlfriend is Paula or anything.” Lance said laughing

Josh gave an uneasy laugh and went back to gently rocking the little girl in his arms. Liz raised an eyebrow at Josh and went into the kitchen where Cynthia was sitting at the table eating some chips.
