The scene shifts to the study of Humus Merte. Humus himself lies motionless on the ground, clearly dead and the Lich appears above him. "By an odd chance when I went to the Alexandrian Library for the purposes to taking all the possible knowledge they have on 'trance' I discovered the dead humus Merte... who had died of a heart attack unknown to all others... but it was not this that surprised me. " The Lich fazes through the walls, and all of you following, floating after him, all the guards apparently completely unaware of the Lich's presence until you get to the Royal chamber, the king, looking far younger, smiling, and laughing as he talks to Younger Closa. The queen right beside him.. with a noticeable 'big' stomach. "I sensed a Soul.. and a power.. a Familiar one. The queens still unborn child had the soul of the summoner which I thought was destroyed with Terra. Indeed, the only reason I could sense it at all is because the summoner blood that ran through the childs veins allowed Serapharums power to radiate outwards.... all be it not in a way that Mortals can detect. Humus Mertes death could not of come at a better time, taking his place it allowed me to keep an eye that all that happened in the castle...."
The Lich flows back through the walls, turning Humus Mertes corpse to dust with a touch, his own form slowly changing to match the old man. "The princesses birth was only weeks away, and if they were born there would always be the chance they could accidently summon Serapharum, very likely having little control over their summoning powers, thanks to both their age, and mixed blood. For this reason I put my great knowledge of souls to work.. Under the lie that I was casting spells to ensure the childs welfare, I used my magic to turn the princess into twins before they were even born. I cut their very soul directly in half, without destroying it, causing Serapharums power to be split between them. With the power split Serapharums power could not be accessed, for that matter, the Princess.. Now Princesses lost the power of summoning, as their full spirit was needed to call an Eidonlion, which was not possible when their spirit consisted of two personalities.
The image suddenly changes once again, to a young Chloe and Valerie walking down a hall of the castle. Chloe with a book in her hand, and Valerie trying to lift an Axe twice her size from an ornamental suit of armor that lay against the wall. The Children grew up.. And their nature went mostly unknown. Their half soul state caused them to have an odd... link of sorts.... seeming to switch their personalties whenever one came in contact with a feather.
As I continued to play the part of Humus Merte, and watch over them I consulted with the other elemental fiends as what to do with them... without... informing them of the identity of those who held the soul. The responses I got... were far from favorable. The background vanishes again... an elemental fiend appearing in the air as Lich speaks of each of their responses
Tiamte seemed not to care at all, seeming to be nothing but annoyed from my summons, leaving the a scoff of apathy the moment I explain the situation...
Marilis Suggested that we free her, and that she would somehow be able to convince her to stop the same vicious cycle over again.... I highly doubted those were her true motives however... and she only learned of the situation at all from speaking to Tiamte, as I did not Trust Marilis....
Kraken believed the princesses should be sealed away for all eternity in a soul crystal of his own design, on the ocean floor. His motives however... much like Marilis were clearly selfish ones. Kraken had spent the over 100 years we had been free building a kingdom for himself under the sea, calling himself king, having a lust for fortune and power that was unfitting an Eidolion. He suggested that we could use the Soul crystal to draw out some of Serapharums power for ourselves... but I could tell in an instant his only motives was to gain more power for himself.
It was clear then I could only depend on myself to stop another disaster. I considered simply killing the girls.. But that would send the soul into the life stream again, meaning I would loose track of it... giving one of my self serving comrades a chance to find it.
