(43) Bribri: It's a moonless night, and a bit cold for this time of year (early spring, the snow has recently left from the streets) but nothing overly uncomfterble as you make your way towards Aldons shop where you're all playing tonight. You spot Aldon in the window shuffling some cards, and he spots you, and heads to the door to open it as you near (Starting with Saeda and Melius for easiness sake, the rest of you can show up when you see fit =P)
(48) Saeda: Saeda yawns slightly as she strolls into the shop, her nose still buried in her book. As she passes she gives Aldon a friendly nod, "And how are you doing tonight Aldon?"
(55) Melius: "Yes, hello Aldon, how goes it?"
(43) Bribri: Aldon shuffles his hand through his hair, as he's made habit of doing over the years (Which honestly makes his bluffs easy to spot) "... alright I supose, nothing to complain about. How has the day treated you both?"
(55) Melius: "Long, the library was pretty much empty until Saeda showed up, but alright otherwise"
(48) Saeda: "Aside from Kadus losing a suspect with his damnable hesitation again?" Saeda asks sarcastically, although her smile betrays that she' s not all that upset.
(55) Melius: "and you Aldon?"
** (55) Melius starts towards the table, finding a seat as far away from Gizzen as possible **
(43) Bribri: ".. somewhat busy... people ordering proper footware for the spring... so many people misplace them over the winter you know"
(48) Saeda: Slinging her sword over the back of her chair, Saeda settles down in her seat, her book once again the center of her attention as she waits for the others to arrive.
** (55) Melius nods. "I wonder where the others are?" **
(48) Saeda: "Late as usual," Saeda smirks without looking up.
(43) Bribri: Aldon takes his seat again at the table, beside Gizzen "Though you said few were at the library? Elaina said she was heading that way today..."

(43) Bribri: it's closed, but not locked.
(60) Bane: (( suddenly you hear a loud "BAH! Ye damn fool, watch where you walkin. I don't have time fur yur stupidity.", moments later the door bursts open and in walks Bane ))
(55) Melius: "well, she may have been there and I hadn't noticed her, she could'v ebeen there and didn't need any help today"
** (60) Bane eye balls everyone and takes his seat next to Gizzen **

(48) Saeda: "And here's the life of the party, " Saeda grins without looking specifically at Bane.

(43) Bribri: This just causes Gizzen to laugh "Hail ta ya bane" Seeming to slightly enjoy Banes grumpyness
(55) Melius: "what was she looking fro ALdon?"
(43) Bribri: Aldon mutters something and ruffles his hair a bit ".... she didn't actualy say... not.. that I'd understand any of the stuff she looks up anyway"
(54) Talen: there is a knock from the door as if someone is kicking it
(48) Saeda: "I wonder where the little ferret is?" Saeda asks absently, referring to Talen by her chosen monicker for him, "Probably up to no good."
** (56) Cy tosses open the door and moves through "Good evening ladies, gents....Tis a fine evening for a game of chance" **
(54) Talen: voice from outside "I just got a shiver is someone talking about me in there?"
** (54) Talen enters the old shop with his usual shabby coat but instead of his usual old, dirty clothes he wears a clean white shirt and clean black pants. His rather long black hair is also in very respectable order, straight and clean. He looks as if he is recently bathed becuase his skin as well is clean. He also has a fairly large (width) leather bound book under one arm and in one hand he carries a porcelain cup with steam rising from it's contents while the other hand, hidden from view becuase of the overly large sleeve of his coat, is seemingly shielding the cup from harm from above. **
(48) Saeda: Saeda rolls her eyes, "Speak of the devil."
(43) Bribri: Aldon flinches a bit more so worried he's going to have to replace his door the way this group tends to open it. He's about to get up from his seat when Cy, thankfully opens the door as opose to the beggers less then effective aprouch of kicking.
(55) Melius: "what's the occasion Talen?"
(54) Talen: "Thanks Cy for the door, I knocked but noone answered"
(60) Bane: "Well, don't ye look pretty this evening"
(48) Saeda: A quiet snicker comes from behind Saeda's book.
(43) Bribri: Gizzen coughs "sooo lad what Tailor did ya barrow those from? None we know I hope?"
(54) Talen: "Why thank you Mr... Bane was it? Ya that's right"
** (56) Cy smirks...."Your looking quite *noble* today" **
(54) Talen: "I hope not, I wouldn't want my private fashion spreading"
(55) Melius: "well, once you all are done with the 'niceities', perhaps we can actually play some cards?"
(54) Talen: "Anyway, I have an appointment so to speak this evening so that's why I look like this"
(56) Cy: "Although I've heard that its quite difficult in this town to rise above ones station. The best of luck to you"
(48) Saeda: Saeda glances over her shoulder and surveys Talen's garb before finally stowing her book in her coat with a sigh, "So Franco wasn't imagining someone stealing some of his clothes..."

(54) Talen: "Oh someone call dibs to what's in my left hand, otherwise I'll be the gentleman and give it to the lady"
(48) Saeda: Saeda arches an eyebrow at Talen's comment, but says nothing, instead looking expectantly to the deck of cards.
(54) Talen: "No one? Oh well here you go 'Snuffles'" with a grin revealing another cup and laying it to rest in front of her
(56) Cy: "Go ahead and give it to her Talen. You might as well pretend"
(55) Melius: "How abotu you deal the cards Aldon?"
(48) Saeda: "You honestly think I'd drink something you've given me ferret?" Saeda eyes Talen rather waspishly before pushing the cup aside.
** (56) Cy winks..."So eager to lose tonight I see Melius **
** (54) Talen finds an open seat "It's a green tea if you're wondering" and after sitting down pulls the book out and finds his marked place **
(43) Bribri: Right then, the game beings the moment drinks are passwrd out, Aldon having traded one fine pair of shoes to the tavern owner Bellwin for a tankerd of the stuff (and to say the least Bellwin was in desprit need of new footware, his big toe wasn't helping bussiness any)
(55) Melius: "yah, i always do, might as well get it out of the way"
** (54) Talen takes a sip of his tea **
(48) Saeda: "Aw chip up Melius," Saeda says with a grin, "I'm sure you'll do better this time."
(60) Bane: "So we going to actually play for real coin, or are we continueing to be a bunch of sissies"
(43) Bribri: Aldon nods "It's my turn tonight so yea I'll deal" as he starts huffling the cards. A squeeky voice from Saedas pocket protests at the serious lack of snacks at the table but is mostly ignored.
** (56) Cy chuckles "Sure, lets play for *real* coin" **
** (60) Bane picks something out of his beard and puts it in his mouth **
** (55) Melius shakes head. "I hope that was food" **

(43) Bribri: Gizzen laughs "If we played for real coin the darn elf would have the game won the first hand."
** (54) Talen continues to read his book, his gaze never leaving it "I have a few spare coins tonight if you really want to play that way" **
(48) Saeda: Saeda takes a sip from the mug of spirits Aldon gave her as she watches the cards with mild interest.
(60) Bane: "hmm, squirell bits, Bah, that tidbit was 3 days old"
(48) Saeda: Saeda grimaces slightly a Bane's comment, deciding to take a deeper drink from her cup.
(43) Bribri: Aldon Sighs "fine.. we'll use real coin... just 10 coins only for the each of us, like we normaly do with the chips"
(55) Melius: "should I give them straight to the elf, or at least try to win tonight?"
** (54) Talen glances up noticing Snuffles really isn't drinking his gift "Hey, if you won't drink my poison then give it back, I'll finish mine far too soon" **
(56) Cy: "Well I think its safe to say I don't come here for the money. Cy winks...I shall go gentle on thee humble patrons of lady luck"
(48) Saeda: A small stack of copper coins falls onto the table neatly as Saeda slips them from an inside pocket of her coat.
(48) Saeda: "I gave it back to you," Saeda nods pointedly to the cup which was already pushed half way towards him, "Not my fault you're too lazy to grab it."
** (55) Melius searches his body for some coin, and magaes to find some copper adn silver pieces **
(54) Talen: (you said you pushed it away never actually to me.... and yes I'm lazy)
(54) Talen: "Oh then... fine" *and grabs the cup*
(54) Talen: "Oh my coin right? " *laying out some coppers almost out of nowhere*
(48) Saeda: Saeda's eyes seem particularly focused on Talen's hands now that coin is present.
(54) Talen: *and with that he returns back to his book*
(56) Cy: Cy places a stack of shiney new coppers next to him
(43) Bribri: Aldon fetches 10 coppers from the back of the counter, and Gizzen manages to find 10 of his own burried in his pockets.

(48) Saeda: Saeda grins at Melius, "That's probably for the best... no need for us to fund their retirement."

(43) Bribri: Just going to quickly go through the rules of the game since there are tons of diffrent kinds of poker =P
(43) Bribri: After each of you have bet one coin Aldon passes out five cards to each person.
(43) Bribri: The value of each hand is as follows:High card-Pair (two cards with the same number value or face)-Double pair-Three of a kind-Flush(All cards the same type:Clubs, spades, hearts ect)-Staight(all cards in numerical order)-Four of a kind-Straight flush(all cards in numerical order, and the same type:cloubs spades hearts etc)-Five of a kind (One wild card needed)
(43) Bribri: Kings are wild (meaning they can represent any card you wish) and the highest card is an ace.

(43) Bribri: the pass back we'll do with a 1d6. If you get 2-3 it doesn't help your hand, 4-5 raises the number on the d20 by 2, 6 raises it by five. 1 actualy makes your hand worst lowering it by 2
(60) Bane: (( I"ll offer this......if we each roll a 1d10, add all of our rolls together, then take each of our number divided by the total to get Percentage, multiplied by 50 coppers = that's our "winnings" or "losings"....we can avoid actually playing

(55) Melius (whispering): "what the hell is going on here...." It has ot be those cards...... but there's no sign of Aldon, or the others. Now what shoudl I do?" M starts to look for any of the others, trying to stay in the general vicinity of Aldon's house

(43) Bribri: (Of course, though we didn't decide which, I like the good old traditional personaly, its not as if we didn't say 'tuesday' back in medival times)
(54) Talen: (well like a calender year system, i could ask the year and they could actually answer me right? Well I'll try anyway)

(60) Bane: (( just to boil this down, it's as if we were held out of time for 20,30,40 years, everything else moved on, we didn't, now we realize we have sort of travelled to the "future", or at least it appears as if things have progressed w/o us getting old

(54) Talen: "Umm, right, right. Well good to see you doing your duty. Thankyou for the answers" *all the while looking a little distracted and finally turning away to leave "Come Bane we should see if everyone else has returned after seeing the perdicament

(43) Bribri: You get back to Aldons place pretty easily, passing a begger or two a blind dwarf, an ugly elf and so forth. Once you get there you see Melius waiting for you.

(55) Melius: "Oh thank Boccob I've foudn you. What is going on????"

(55) Melius: where's the others, where's teh cards....!!!"
(43) Bribri: Aldons Shop no longer has any sort of sign, and you can see through the window the place is coverd with dust and hasn't been used for years

whispering to Melius, It looks like a religous temple yes.. dedicated to some sort of merchant or trading god

(55) Melius: "well, both temples we've been to have ben devoted to money or trade..... It's almost as if we've been taken to a place where everythign is opposite. Aldon's place, teh temples, Talen...."

(43) Bribri: (wouldn't hardly call him a lord, 12 year olds aren't lords haha)
(54) Talen: " Ya, my father was Hamish Dras, one of the wealthiest there was until he was sent to the dungeon"

** (60) Bane suddenly gets up and heads back outside, walking up to every single dward he sees, as if in a hyper-state **

(54) Talen: (i may not have been a real lord but my status barring age would have been the same as that of a noble)

(60) Bane (whispering): the point here is that if this has all changed, perhaps Bane's brother didnt' end up ruling the clan, Bane did - per the private history I sent you.....he's going to every dwarf he normally avoids so that they don't recognize him as his brother's twin...to see if they call him their leader......:)
(54) Talen: "Well it can't be crazier than my idea"
whispering to Bane, most dwarvs are of course sleeping.. but you spot one, wearin ga blind fold, and missing a leg... with many battles scars... and rags for clothes
(55) Melius: "the present is the compilation of all past events adn choices. what if somehow the past changed, and your father didn't get sent to the dungeon, that would chagne everything"
whispering to Bane, skinny too, hasn't eaten for a while
(60) Bane (whispering): "Sir, your name, sir your name -bah, nevermind, have you ever heard of the clan Wyrmsbane?
(55) Melius: "he could've somehow taken control of the town, which woudl explain all teh money temples, and perhaps the big gates"

(54) Talen: "I guess. But does that mean someone changed the past or we are merely in another thread of fate where things happened differently?"
(60) Bane (whispering): Bane's real name is Leoben Wyrmsbane, brother to Thoben, who is the leader of the clan Wyrmsbane. However, the party will know him only as "Bane", and not his true identity. At some future point, Leoben, will realize that he could easily assume the identity of "Thoben" in the eyes of the party, and convince them that his brother has stolen the reigns of the clan from him. Not sure we'd ever get to this point in character development, and perhaps Leoben would make choices as he develops that would preclude this from even becoming a possibility (ie learns what loyalty is, he understands it would be wrong to go against his brother, he learns that honor above all is important...so he would never act on his jealousy). However, Leoben is 5 minutes older than Thoben, so technically the "older" brother, and should have rightly inherited the clan from his father Taben. However, days before the naming ceremony where Leoben was to be named heir, the wizards of the clan met in private with Taben. The told Taben of some sort of prophecy that would come true if Leoben was named heir. Taben was torn, for tradition dictated his action, but the prophecy was apparently clear enough to push him into naming Thoben as the heir. To his deathbed did Taben take the secret as to why he chose Thoben over Leoben. He did manage to find out about the prophecy, but never it's details.
These events struck Leoben hard, and feeling the shame of everyone's eyes upon him, or worse their pity, he left his clan when all were asleep. Eventually he happend upon the city of Yelltrin. Leoban lived off the land, and trapped and hunted to trade for supplies with the city of Yelltrin. He never took up residence there, but instead chose to be a wanderer. Many labeled him the "Dwarven Hermit", a title he seemed to wear with a certaini amount of pride.
One day at town, he happened upon the dwarf Grizzen. Normally he avoided dwarves, to protect his identity, fearing that he'd run into someone from the clan Wyrmsbane, he made an exception with Grizzen. Yearning for dwarven companionship, he took Grizzen up on his offer to play in his weekly poker game.
(60) Bane (whispering): :)
whispering to Bane, "My name...? I dare not speak it... I am not worthy of my name......"
(54) Talen: "Actually that sounds much like what my idea was, where we were in a different but parralel reality"
(60) Bane (whispering): "Fine, Clan Wyrmsbane, do you know it?"

(54) Talen: "I had heard fiction in my books I read about such but nothing more than that, fiction"
whispering to Bane, "...... I said I di not want to speak of my name!" He yells angrly.. his voice sounding somewhat... familiar..

whispering to Bane, ".... you.. know my name... arge.. then my shame is not hidden from you..." He says as he slumps against the wall
(60) Bane (whispering): "It's leoben, your brother"
(109) Melius: "my first guess woudl be a different thread of fate, because of the cards... but I won't know until I can get my hands on them." M gets a horrid look on his face

whispering to Bane, "... what...? NO!" he seems to get very agitaged "You dare speak such lies infront of me!"
(43) Bribri: You both hear some yelling down the street
** (109) Melius looks to see the commotion **
(54) Talen: "We need to find the others to, if nothing else, make sure we aren't crazy"
(43) Bribri: you'll have to walk down the street some to do that... it's happening well as I said:down the street and its rather dark out haha
** (54) Talen looks at the scream/yelling **
(60) Bane (whispering): "Tis I, Thoben, tis I, what has happened?"
** (109) Melius heads down quickly **
(109) Melius: "that';s an issue, if Aldon's place is as it is, that may mean there is no aldon, which means no deck of cards, or it's somewhere else and we have to find it"
whispering to Bane, ".. ... Your words I know to be lies... but that voice..... what are you.. a specter come to haunt me? To torture me for my sin?!"
(54) Talen: "Ah, wait damn it..." sigh and follow
(54) Talen: "But he left after you did so therefore he should still be around"
** (60) Bane shakes him, then stands him up and loops his foot around the back of Thobens to trip him - ie the way he used to trip him when they were kids **
(60) Bane (whispering): "Thoben, Tis I, no spectre, but you, you are not the same as I last remember - tell me what has befallen you?"
** (60) Bane helps him up then **

(54) Talen: (i think he's triping himself)

(60) Bane (whispering): "not impossible, now, it may be odd, but tell me everything of the clan, why yuo think me dead - it may be odd, you may think I'm a spectre, but I need to know - who leads clan Wyrmsbane?"

** (60) Bane looks at you, then ignores you completely focusin on the conversation with teh dwarf **
(43) Bribri: "You wish me to say it? I know you are dead because it was.. with these filthy unworthy hands that I killed you!"
(109) Melius: (just wondered woudl this be a good place to stop?)
(54) Talen: "Nevermind him, if he chooses to do that rather than figure this out so be it"
** (109) Melius gets an intrigued look on his face, it become more clear to him" **
(109) Melius: "so somehwo the past changed or we're in a 'parallel universe' of sorts... all brought on by seemingly the deck of cards"
(60) Bane: "Thoben, tis I leoben, tell me what has befallan the clan? Why are you here. Who leads the clan?"
(109) Melius: "and the only constants seem to be us"
(54) Talen: "You say it's the cards but how can a mere deck of cards do such a thing?
(43) Bribri: "... no one leads the clan....there is no clan... It's I who all dwarves have to thank for it"
(109) Melius: "that i dont' know, but it's either that or something totally jnrelated that we have no knowledge of, so we have ot assume it's teh cards until we figure out otherwise"
(60) Bane: "Melius, Talen, I'd hoped to keep this from you, but given our circumstances, I can no longer do that"
(54) Talen: "It's going to be hell to find the others if they don't come back to this spot"
(43) Bribri: The blind dwarf slumps to the ground leaning against the stone wall of a nearby house.
(54) Talen: "Wait you have a dark past too?"
(60) Bane: "This is my brother Thoben, leader of the clan Wyrmsbane. He's my twin brother"
(109) Melius: "In other times it'd be a pleasure, but at the moment I can't say it is, but it's nice to meet you, we didn't knwo Bane had a brother"
(43) Bribri: "Leader...? I.. was never leader.. it was you who father chose... chosening tradition and ignoreing the prophcy..."
(60) Bane: "By right, I'm the leader of the clan, so there is a bit of noble blood in more than a you Talen. However, at the last minute my father, Taben handed the reigns of the clan to Thoben, I know not why other than prophecy. I left shortly thereafter. But This is NOT the brother I left."
(60) Bane: "What?
(60) Bane: "Father chose you, and I left in disgrace"
(109) Melius: "so more than one even changed...."

(43) Bribri: He shakes his head "It is you he chose! Not I...... he ignored the gods word and went with his own..."
(109) Melius: "that tells me this is another thread completely, and not one isolated event in the past"
(54) Talen: "Wait, wait, wait... We have a noble elf, an ex-noble(me), a noble dwarf, and who the hell else is noble around here?"
(60) Bane: "Thoben, come with us, help us figure this out and right what is wrong. This is not how things unfolded, the clan is strong. Help me, help us, fix what is broken"
(109) Melius: "Bane, there is nothing to fix. This isn't our 'present', this is an alternate 'present'"
(109) Melius: "to us anyways, that's why everything is different"
(43) Bribri: "... you speak of more madness Specter! There is no changing what has been done..."
(60) Bane: "Ye coward" ** and turns his back on his brother, and walks away
(54) Talen: "Melius, how are we going to find the others? I think I pull the noble me off to some of the guards to try and get some help but it could lead to some very hairy situations if the other me, if he is here, finds out"
(60) Bane: "Let's be gone, wrong I was, not the brother I grew up with, not the honorable and fierce dwarf I once knew"
(43) Bribri: Think we'll stop here... can't leave the others out for TOO long
