(991) Bribri: Okk then, last game you were on your way back to the library after retriving the priests lost book, which you only hope holds the answers you all seek. Once you arrive back at the library you find bane grumply waiting for you, as only a dwarf can.

whispering to Cy, Well, I'm not an expert at fantasy worlde conomic, so giving you an exact number of your finances and property is rather diffcult. For the most part you are just high enough to be considerd uper class, the handfull of bussiness you deal with appear to be honest ones, along with a good few charities (in this world, you are , apparently quite a generous guy) and.. you appear to pay all your servants twice the regular rate, at least at th emoment.

(983) Saeda: Saeda stares at the floor trying to appear uninterested as she rests one of her hands lightly on the coat pocket containing Ash.

(994) Talen: (i wonder if my dice bot is going to crap out tonight as well...)

Its the snivling coward again, Bwahaha" Causing the other priest to hide as the older quirks a brow and then shakes his head " *sigh* You'd think he never saw a familiar before.. there are many wizards in the city.. by the lord of books," he looks back "you're doing nothing but making us look like fools!"

(983) Saeda: "It's not his fault... Ashums has a very... colorful personality," Saeda sniggers, not quite hiding her amusement at the priest's reaction.
(991) Bribri: The book details many rather powerfull artifacts, most of which no one knows the current location of... though none jump out as what you're looking for. The nearest is a thing called the deck of many things.. which apparently can cause some major world alterations.. but this much? questionable.
** (980) Melius relays that to his companions **
(994) Talen: "So dead end huh?..."
(980) Melius: "well, we have a possibility, which is more than what we had before"
(980) Melius: "but nothing definite, no
(983) Saeda: Saeda breathes a silent sigh of relief.
(994) Talen: "hmm...Well, I'm sure with my influence I could arrange a meeting with the king to verify that it is who we think it is but after that I'd be lost"
(980) Melius: "we may have to retriece those stolen books, depending on their content"
(980) Melius: "well, if the King is in fact Aldon, I highly doubt he will help us"
(994) Talen: "I know. Which is why I think that would be a dead end as well. But after those stolen books we have no leads..."
(980) Melius: "have we found out what teh content of the stolen books was?"
(986) Cy (whispering): I'd probably meet up with these guys at Talen's house, since they planned and left while I was sleeping and I doubt I'd know about the library adventures
(994) Talen: ((can I assume that Melius or one of the priests have healed me by now?))
(997) Bane: "Well, I think you go right ahead and use yer influence Talen, If the King be who we think it is, he's got a date with me maul"

(980) Melius: "now now bane, we can't kill the king, one because they'll kill you, two because he may be the only way to get us back"

(983) Saeda: Saeda watches on, feeling somewhat guilty for thinking that perhaps letting Bane kill Aldon would be a good thing, if he could even manage such a feat.

(991) Bribri: "Hmm? Only the head priest would know such things... generaly speaking if the books are kept away from the general public.. there's a reason for it.. the knowledge is forbidden or the books to valuble to have on display"

(980) Melius: "hmm, we really need to know. woudl it be possible to speak with him?"
(994) Talen: "I'm sure they are worth while books, but we need to know what they are. I intend to hel with the retrieval"
(991) Bribri: ".. he's... currently out on an expedition I'm afraid, a ruins exvation up north.. he should be back in two days or so.."
(991) Bribri: "The fact you're willing to help Lord dras is very reasuring" The priest nods smiling, while the other sneaks out as Ash laughs at him "Cower as you should worm!"
(980) Melius: "two days? your books could be sold adn out of the city by then. "
(986) Cy (whispering): One thing I want to follow up on is my connection with the king....I believe I know we're suspicious that Aldon is King....and since I pretty much was responsible for his ascension, I have the feeling we must have got along pretty well, but I'd like to confirm that first before I approach him
(994) Talen: "I assume who have or will be sending word to him about this correct?"
(983) Saeda: Saeda rolls her eyes, but does little to restrain her "familiar".

(997) Bane: "Bah, books are books, and just words, Don't ye think those same words are copied into other books at other libraries. Forget the books, let's go pay our respects to the /king/ "

(991) Bribri: He nods "Of course, that's why he's going to be back in two days, other wise he would of been out many more weeks"
(986) Melius: "well, we need to find them, adn get the books back, no offense to your head priest, but I fear in two days those books will be long gone forever"

I mean no disrespect but shouldn't you have concieved this plan rather than letting some cobblerdo instead? I hope I am wrong and you knew the entire time but why only us be the focal of such a prank? Thiis leads me to doubt it was you. ** (980) Melius nods. (to the priests) "If they happen to contact you about a ransom, please let us know, otherwise I'm nto sure how you can help, but i would suggest beefing up security around here, just in case" **

(994) Talen: "Yes, I don't doubt your keen eyes but you alone can't stop thieves of this caliber. Security would be advised"
(983) Saeda: "Try to rob the same place twice?" Saeda mutters quietly, "Not likely..."
(980) Melius: "and with that, as the houir is late, i suggest we retrn to Lord Talen's to rest, recoup, and plan for tomorrow"
(994) Talen: "Fine with me. I'm sure Midge is giving Clara quite a hand full by now."

(983) Saeda: Saeda falls into step behind Melius, her mind obviously mulling over something as she stares at the ground.

(991) Bribri: Okkk then, you all head back to Talens, by the time you get there it's twighlight... .. though asy ou approch the door there's a rather well dressed man holding a rolled up, and sealed parchment. He's siting down.. but stands up the minute he spots Talen smiling "Ah Lord Dras! It is good to see you again"

** (994) Talen trys to think if he's seen the man before... "And you... I am sorry my mind has been a little rattled this day. Your name again?" **

(986) Cy (whispering): Assuming I'm allowed back in, I'll be inside somewhere comfortable, with my feet up, helping myself to some wine and reading some historical text or other (just for reading's sake, but also to study what, if anything has changed about the past)
(983) Saeda: Saeda arches an eyebrow at Talen's wonderful 'tact' around people his other self should know.
(991) Bribri: "ah... it.. has been a while, It's Noah sir, I'm a messanger from the king, he assined you to bring you this" He raises the pacrhemtn towards 'lord dras' "and only you.. apparently the king didn't want any others to rea dit so... I had to wait tell you arrived"
(991) Bribri: "Well... almost only you.. .the king gave me an odd list of names that you could show it to... though I haven't the fogiest of who some of the others are.. though I imagin you do"

(983) Saeda: "He's obviously the smart one among us," Saeda smirks at Cy.

(986) Cy: "Although it looks like I had the better afternoon"
(994) Talen: "Check her pockets and you'll find out you are absolutely correct"
whispering to Talen, The list, not surprsingly is one of the names of the people from the poker game, minus mitch of course, apparently Aldon didn't quite count him "Dear lord Talen 'ferrit' Dras, I the Aldon, the king of spades, invite you to attent a dinner, along with the others on this list if you are capable of ffinding them, tomorow, at the royal palace, at 6pm. As you may have noticed, we all have alot to discuss, as it's quite clear by now that the deck of cards I bought was far more then I realized. To wake up and find myself king, to find out that you're a lord.. and Cy a hero.. it's.. an interesting discovery to say the least. Not only thagt Gizzens long lost son, is around in this 'new' world.. and no only that, he is a hero in his own right.
** (994) Talen nods at Saeda **
(983) Saeda: Saeda shrugs at Talen's comment, settling down in the nearest chair and resting her sword next to her with a loud *clunk*
(980) Melius: "so Lord Talen, what does the parchment say?
** (986) Cy smirks "Isn't checking pockets your specialty Talen, or has the day in the life of a noble gone to your head already?" **
whispering to Talen, I'm not sure of the otehrs sadly, though I can only assume their lives have been made the beter as well.. at least that's the only theme I'm detecting here. REgardless, tomorow we'll have a feast, and see if we can figure this all out, assuming your free, and are the Talen I think you are. The letter ends in his signature, and a royal seal, as one would expect
(983) Saeda: "Considering he's getting missives from the king now, I dare say it has," Saeda chuckles.
(994) Talen: "Hmm, well my influence isn't needed. We have dinner with the king tomorrow night"

** (980) Melius does a double take. "You do eh?" **
(983) Saeda: "Just yourself Lord Dras? Or are all of us moving up in the world?"
(994) Talen: "I said *we* have dinner tomorrow, not just me"
(983) Saeda: "You do have a wife you know..." Saeda scolds teasingly, "'We' means you and her by default."
(994) Talen: "He seems just as perturbed by all this as well, and just as amazed that I'm a lord as all of you..."
(986) Cy: "What are you all in mind to do, once in the presence of *our* king?"
(983) Saeda: "So it wasn't him then?" Saeda looks honestly surprised, but the expression fades quickly, "So this is either an accident... or someone else is to blame."
(994) Talen: "Well, the things we must discuss with him I doubt me wife is really wanted at this get together of ours"
(980) Melius: "Not necessarily"
(983) Saeda: "I suppose we were giving a cobbler more credit than he was due..." she shrugs finally.
(994) Talen: "Oh he knows what caused it but was just as surprised"
(980) Melius: "perhaps he had little control over how our lives turned out, but was still teh cause"
(997) Bane: "ooheeee, maul-to-the-head on the menu tomorrow"
(986) Cy: "Do you make conclusions on such sketchy evidence in your prior profession Saeda?" Cy smirks "Perhaps you are then more suited as a housewife"
(994) Talen: "He believes we are all for the better becuase bot him and Gizzen seem to have moved up in the world rather than down"
(980) Melius: "well, he is mistaken then, but I do nto blame him for it"
(983) Saeda: Saeda smirks, "Honestly I don't much care... but I don't see what he would stand to gain by playing ignorant at this point... he holds all the cards if you pardon my pun."

(986) Cy: "Mel...the chances of whatever he did being exactly or even remotely reversible is probably too good to be true"
(983) Saeda: "How would that be gaining?" Saeda looks rather irriatated, but then her expression softens somewhat as she thinks of something, and simply says, "Do what you will."
(997) Bane: "The lass speaks some sense, I /will/ to bash his skull, who's with me"
(980) Melius: "well, in theory reversing it would be as easy as using whatever he used and simply "undoing" it"
(997) Bane: "Or killing him will break the curse that this is"
(994) Talen: "I say save the bashing for if he actually doesn't intend to help us"
(983) Saeda: "Yes because all wounds can be healed by using the sword that caused them to sew them back together," Saeda comments dryly towards Melius.
(980) Melius: "and bane, if the universe as we know it is changed, killing him won't change it back"

(983) Saeda: Saeda simply swirls her drink as Clara hands it to her, gazing curiously at Cy as her moodiness lifts for a moment.

(980) Melius: "well, I suggest you all find appropriate clohing for tomorrow's festivities, I doubt you can visit a king in that attire"
(994) Talen: "Oh don't go pulling that Cy, you might not think any of us may know what you did in the previous world but remember what I used to do, I know"
(986) Cy: "I think it safe to say that, for all of us, there are perceivable positives and negatives about our places in this new reality"
** (980) Melius looks over at Talen, confused...." **
** (994) Talen stops mid sentence and gives Melius a strange look then looks around at the manor then back, shakes his head and finishes the sentence **
(980) Melius: "well Cy, when you find the positives for me, I would appreciate it if oyu let me know"
(994) Talen: "Well Cy doesn't know of your situation yet Melius"
(986) Cy: "I remember exactly what you used to do, and where are you now? For all of us, it is the same in some regards. Yes, my personal situation has changed...markedly. However, I ask, should it not be looked at as an opportunity instead of a setback? Would you like to return to the slums Talen, or continue to play noble?"
(983) Saeda: Saeda watches the expressions of her companions over the rim of her glass, knowing full well some of them will be hard to sell... Melius in particulary.
(980) Melius: "arguing will get us nowhere"
(994) Talen: "Its all on the point of view Cy. I lost something that just can't be replaced, not by power or money. I'd gladely give it up to have her back. You may not have lost such a thing and only see this as an opprotunity but not me. Have my damn gold, I need it not to live."
(983) Saeda: "It hardly sounds like he's arguing..." she notes quietly taking another sip.
(986) Cy: "Discussion, however, will"
** (980) Melius has a thought pop in his head, which makes him feel very uncomfortable, but doesn't dare suggest it to the others **
** (997) Bane seeing the direction that the group is seemingly taking, sits, grabs ale and begins thinking **
(980) Melius: " so we have 2 that want to go back, one that may want to stay, and 2 on teh fence"
(994) Talen: "I've had my power stripped before, it happening again won't make a difference in my life"
(991) Bribri: (i'm around again though you people sseem to be having fun haha)
(980) Melius (whispering): this is such an odd group
(991) Bribri: Midge, coming in yawning "Huh? Hey you're all back! Finaly~ !"
(986) Cy: "I suggest you not be so short-sighted. What you lost, if indeed it is a girl, can be found again in another. Trust me. And I think all of us are overlooking one key fact. We are in good with a king. Not just any king, but one who is a king by name only. He is, by nature, a cobbler. There is opportunity there...no?"
(980) Melius: "are you suggesting we blackmail the king to keep his secret?"
(994) Talen: "No he suggests to make Aldon a puppet"
(980) Melius: "that coudl be the same thing"
(986) Cy: "No Melius. To spill the truth would hardly be believed. However, if he is to truly rule, he will need help no?"
(980) Melius: "from what i read, he and his line are very powerful in both sword adn spell, i doubt he needs our help
(991) Bribri: "Aldons turning into a puppet? is.. this like how I got turned into a boy" Midge muses

(983) Saeda: "He's a cobbler Melius, regardless of what his line was..."
(986) Cy: "He can turn to no one else but us, unless he risks showing weakness. Weakness is not healthy for a king, if you catch my drift"
(983) Saeda: "Just like I'm still a warrior, regardless of what this world may think."
(980) Melius: "talen, what time do you all have to go to the king's dinner?"
(994) Talen: "I doubt I'd want to offer such help Cy. You see only the power this new world may give you and and the true value of life one can achieve. I say nay to the idea, stay or leave I won't do such a thing"
(983) Saeda: Saeda smiles at Cy, obviously appreciating where he's going with all of this.

(980) Melius: "ok, assuming you have a library here, I will do some research then"
(980) Melius: "other wise i will ehad abck ot the temple"
(994) Talen: "I don't know Cy, maybe its just becuase of our difference in lives before hand that we don't see eye to eye on this."
(986) Cy: "All you see are some girl's moon eyes, I hardly see the comparison. I said nothing of power, merely comfort and good living. To be in high favor of a king will bring that...for all of us"

(997) Bane: "Bah, keep up yer talk and ya just find me maul in with yer teeth"
(997) Bane: (with that bane returns to his room)
(994) Talen: "Not just 'moon eyes'... it'd be hard for you to understand, you never really showed her much care in the other world either so why now?"
(983) Saeda: Saeda leans back in her chair rolling her eyes as she sees where this is headed.
** (980) Melius sees this is a personal issue.... "Well, i'm off to bed gentlemen, and SAeda. Sleep well, and I shall see you in the morning" **
(986) Cy: Cy's eyes narrow...."Don't be circumspect. Your a *noble* now, act like one and be direct man. Of whom do you speak?"
(991) Bribri: And here comes Clara into the room "Um... Lord.. Dras.. I don't know how to explain this but.. there's a Talking Squirrl going through the books in your library"
** (980) Melius heads to his room, cautiously investigates for people in the room, then securely locks the door as much as possible, then washes up and heads for bed **
(983) Saeda: Saeda smirks, "I'll handle it..."
(983) Saeda: With that she rises swiftly, restrapping her sword if for no other reason than to keep it near as she heads towards to the library.
(994) Talen: "Whom do you think?" *looks at Saeda* "thank you" *back to Cy* "You've seen her just today I belive, unless you have gone blind"
whispering to Saeda, You find the littler bugger doing exactly what she said, a few books are alraedy layed out infront of him, one open and he's reading through it, chuckling from time to time inbetween

Those who decided such things are nesssary are well dressed thanks to Talens access to finer clothing.
(991) Bribri: Kadus and midge, while aware of the meeting, aren't permited in the palace however, as they weren't on the list the 'king of spades' sent you.

(991) Bribri: there are two guards, dressed in black armor at the front of the gate, they look at you all as you approch..their faces are clear of mistrust though, reconizing Cy and Talen easily. whispering to Melius, So what's your evil plans? You reseach from the day doesn't give much on magic cards.. but it does shed some light on what you saw int he park. A childrens fairy tale of sorts, apparently their are storys of talking animals int he park that only speak to children.. .something that's not belived by any reasonable adult... but... you've clearly seen proof of the contrary

Gizzen is there as well, with typical drwaven manners having already started eating. and he waves to you all "Ah lads! 'bout time ya got here! Take a seat" Aldon just laughs "it's been just a few days, yet it feels like months, yes take a seat" he glances to the servants "You may leave" Who bow and leave as their king orders

(983) Saeda: Saeda does her best to look lady like as she takes a seat at the table, obviously out of her element.

(997) Bane: "Clan Wyrmsbane be no more, at least in this goofy world that is his doing, me brudder is broken and crazy, no more than a begger. Aldon done this, to be sure"
(991) Bribri: "Wyrmsbane? Me ears can't be right, I knew many a good dwarf from that clan, Bah, This just goes and ruins things.. this world be geting alot blacker.. but don't be blaming the boy for that... why would he wish your Clan gone? That ain't make no Sense"
whispering to Melius, Kadus pauses looking towards the windows "which.. is very likely hoonestly, honor among thives is a true thing.. traitors are delt with in rather harsh ways normaly...."

whispering to Melius, "not that you have to worry about that in a nobles home anyway"
(980) Melius (whispering): "yah, but how long can I stay hidden away here before they find a way to get to me. I didn't go to the dinner because IW as afradi the guards would arrest me on sight for being on e of them"
(991) Bribri: Aldon shakes his head "I didn't do anything, I just bought a pack of cards and played a game with it.... I was hoping this would be a pleasent meeting...where I heard 'good' things of what happend..."
(983) Saeda: "Be reasonable Bane..." Saeda sighs, "I doubt that's within Aldon's power."
(986) Cy: "Bane...perhaps you'll understand things if put another way. In the game of poker right....you remember that game....is the dealer responsible for who wins and loses a hand? No. you get the hand your dealt. I think the same logic, quite literally, applies to our situation"
(997) Bane: "so you think the boy is innocent in this?"

(997) Bane (whispering): I'm jumping ship for this evening, getting a headache and must get sleep :)

(986) Cy: "More like I think that everything in nature is connected, so in order to twist reality to suite Aldon's dream, everything else must twist as well, for better or worse"
(994) Talen: "I know I wished that my life be what it should have been, and I lost things that only came with me losing it in the first place"
(986) Cy: "Perhaps then, you should be more careful of what you wish for"

(980) Melius (whispering): "normal, a cobbler, would help you out if you needed it, never really asked for much, just a normal everyday person i guess. I didn't knwo him very well, we just played poker together, adn i got shoes form him every now and then"

(980) Melius (whispering): "no, but it will....and i worry about my friends, i think some of them woudl rather stay here adn live life this way"
(986) Cy: "I agree with that. However, what is done is done, however unfortunate some circumstances. The question remains, what can we do about it, if anything? From there we decide a course of action, plain and simple"

(991) Bribri: "... well I'm not exactly how the cards work, I am a sorcerer now, a powerfull one, but that doesn't mean I understand how I do it " (enter gruff comment from bane about magic being fooie silliness) " The Royal wizards are looking over the cards now actualy, the highest up and most trusted only of course, we don't want them falling into the wrong hands... they have more expertise then any of us combinded"
(994) Talen: "Well I believe if this is reversible it should be set right, the world needn't be changed by people who accidently decided to play with a deck of cards that changed reality"
(994) Talen: "Of course if it turns out that its irreversable then I guess we will have to make do..."
