~~My Idol ~~

Mothers day falls on the 2nd Sunday of May. This celebration started in America during the month of May of the year 1905 when the mother of a lady named Anna passed away. 2 years after her mothers passing, Anna managed to convince the organization that her mother had participated in to hold a remembrance ceremony for her mother. White carnations are used to represent the love of Mothers. After that, Anna tried to introduce the celebration to the public by seeking help from local VIPs. Anna organized a national level celebration to honor all mothers.

How did you celebrate this years Mothers Day? I could only think of my mother, as she left us last month. Although my mother had been busy all her life and had gone through a lot, but with her determination, she managed to overcome all obstacles. My mother was working as a nurse in Mainland China when she met my father. After tying the knot, my father went to Hong Kong to work. My mother had to raise the three of us all by herself. She had to work and look after the family. We reunited with my father in Hong Kong. We also applied to enable my grandmother and cousins to settle in Hong Kong. Therefore, my mothers burden increased as she had to look after nine people in the family. Despite that, she continued to work as a cashier to help out with the family finances. In my eyes, she is a bionic woman that needs no rest.

I remember her as a person that keeps updating herself by continuously acquiring knowledge. Other than working and looking after the family, she even learnt English by herself. With continuous practice, her fluency in English improved. In the early 60s, she started a Fur coat shop in a hotel in Zhong Wan. The items sold in the shop were mainly geared towards foreign tourists. My mother often visited various states in America to have business meetings with foreigners. While juggling her Fur coat business, she still managed to take care of her family.

Subsequently, my parents and my younger brother shifted to the United States. Even though we are separated in two different continents, but we continue to communicate through phone calls. My mother still treats me like a little child because in her eyes, no matter how much weve grown up, we would still be her children who would never grow up. Shes left us now, but her smile and liveliness would remain in my thoughts, forever.
