As a mellow mom Christine Hughes on CBS's Yes, Dear, Liza Snyder says the best part of her job is working with five kid costars age 6 and under. "They are the only ones who understand me," she says. "You can be having any kind of day in the world, and when they come to the set everything else falls away."
The 32-year-old actress grew up in a family of performers and was just a kid herself when she got her first taste of the limelight. Her father, Denton Snyder, taught drama at Smith College, where Liza made her stage debut at age 7. Her mother, Babbie Green, is an actress-singer and her grandfather, Johnny Green, won five Oscars including one each for scoring "An American in Paris," "Oliver!" and "West Side Story." Snyder grew up playing with her grandfather's golden statues. "I used to take the Oscars down from the mantle in his house and stand up on the ottoman and practice my speech," says the actress who is single and lives in Los Angeles with her Jack Russell terriers, Stanley and Stella. "Most people have to practice their speech with a spatulaI got to practice with the real thing."
Liza Snyder's Cajun Catfish
1/2 cup lemmon juice
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp. cayenne
4 tbsp. paprika
3 tbsp. onion powder
salt of taste
4 6-oz . catfish fillets
1/2 cup bread crumbs
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 cup canola oil

Ina mixing bowl, combine lemon juice, garlic, cayenne, paprika, onion powder and salt. Add catfish and let soak in marinade. IN a seperate bowl, combine bread crumbs and flour. Remove catfish from marinade and dip in bread-crumb mixture, coating evenly. Heat oil in a skillet pm ,edium heat and fry for about four minutes on each side or until cooked through. Serves 4.
