| Here I am, and to think, it's only been a couple of days! Anyway, things have
been great. Dabbled with college; worked for Reichhold Chemcials in NWhite
Plains for 23+ years and was downsized before it became a word. Jim
and I married in 1981 (just had to wait for the right guy!!) and we moved from
White Plains to Teaneck NJ in 1985. We have two grandchildren, courtesy of Jim's
daughter. (Can't keep up, sorry!!) After I left Reichhold, I worked for
a small family business until I watched them run it out of business. Then
I saw an ad for a church! I've been there now for 10-1-2 years! We have
our lovely home in Teaneck, and also a lovely home in Bonita Springs FL.
(Sorry Bob and Barb, but the beaches are alot better on the west coast of FL.
Actually, my brother in law lives not too far from you; when we are in residence, he comes over to the gulf because the beach is better ;-).
I had a nasty bout with ovarian cancer in 1998. Went through a kind of tough operation and courses of chemo. When my hair started to fall out, I
said to Jim, well, "'That's it, shave it," and he did and I was fine with that.
Had a couple of pretty good looking wigs, actually. Now my hair is
as God intended. Certainly not chestnut brown. I'm fine. Jim is a
diabetic and also a marathon person. He has run 4 at this point and will
run Baltimore in October. He is 61 and trains all the time. We were
n San Diego at the beginning of June for the Suzuki RocknRoll Marathon and it
was great. Always being the collector, I am a hugh Beatles fan, collect dolls from the 50's era, vintage clothing, and anything I think could further clutter up the house(s). But I am still always happy. We are presently owned
by two cats, Rocky Raccoon Hogan, a silver Maine Coon, and C-Moon, a cookie-jar
shaped calico. We also have two of the horniest parakeets, Rock'n'Roll
and Fabulous, who take great pleasure into doing the dirty deed and then destroy
the eggs. We have an assortment of fish in the tank. I feed every
critter in the backyard, but we did relocate about 6 groundhogs this year before
our garden was totally gone. Tonight I put up about 20 pounds of tomatoes. (Isn't that what good Italian wives are supposed to do???) Please keep me on your list. I can't believe that there aren't more of our people out there who don't have email. Were they born under a rock? Hpe you like the photo. Barefoot Beach, North Naples, FL.. Paradise by the early morning light... Lynn |

. My wife and I are both retired music teachers and have been bumming for 2 years. Hope to have more. We come back to Woodstock, IL and do a summer youth musical theatre thing and will head out end of June. We were on the cape 2 years back. I have 2 kids both are married but only one grand
daughter so far. Our son is in Michigan and our daughter is in Schenectady
and has our grandchild. We are headed that way in Aug. and Sep to harass
them. I was a band director in HS and grade school for all these years and just lucked out that I started when I did and the state came up with the early retirement. |

. On graduation from Marietta College, I landed the best job I ever had as a reporter for the Marietta Daily Times. Sadly, that bit the dust at the convience of the government in '66 when I enlisted in a Marine
reserve unit (no illusions of great valor, just the closest unit to where
I lived) to beat the draft. The unit closed down 6 months after
my arrival and I was transfered to the next closest unit 297 miles
away. They met weekly which meant a 600 mile mid week drive for 6
years. I volunteered for active duty, went to OCS, and the rest as they
say...
My wife Jan and I were married in June of '66 at Quantico, VA.(It has
lasted 35 years now so I guess she's a keeper, or one of us is) In Jan,
'67 I left her barefoot and pregnant in Carlsbad, CA for a fun filled 13
months running through the VN weeds as an infantry platoon commander.
Our eldest, Geoffrey was born in July of '67. We met briefly in Hawaii
in Oct. He was 6 mos old when I got home.
Since 1969 the year that happily marked my departure from USMC, we have
been 'hole up' in South Chatham, MA on the elbow of Cape Cod. For twenty some odd years I was an "upper" management goof in a couple of small building material chains here on the Cape. Both careers went down in flames as the result of some untimely remarks to some upper "upper" managers.
During our first "tweener " stint, Rebecca now 24 and living in
Sacramento, and Michael 22 and still on the Cape, joined our happy club much to the dismay of their then 10 year old brother (and their parents for that matter). During the second tweener I did some substitute teaching to pay the bills, liked it and went back to graduate school and got my masters in special ed. (What a kick, I was at 50 the oldest person in the classroom) For the past 8 years I've been working with special needs students locked up in the juvenile unit in the Plymouth jail. The state took all the juvenile murders and put them in a max setting, the island of lost boys, and they are now my peeps. An interesting bunch of lads.
In the down time, Jan and I started a miniature/doll house building
business which lasted for about 18 years until after suffering through
yet one more unhappy Christmas of trying to meet deadlines we called it
quits. For the past 11 years we've been operating an ice cream parlor
during the summer.
Geoffrey is a computer guy and lives with his wife Becky and our two
grand sons (who we graciously allow him to house and call his) Evyn -6
(pronounced evan) and Ryley-4. He and I amuse ourselves in local road
races as 'sandwich-team' runners; he runs way up in front and I run way
at the back. I did a lot of running (2 Cape Cod marathons, 1 Boston
and 4 Marine Corps) but now I fear my knees are shot and my M days are over - I'm content to struggle through a 10k. I've set the bar low - finish under my own steam in some position other than last. So far I've been able to meet that goal. The only BMHS grad I've stayed in touch with until now is John Maret.
He and I went to college together and now that his mom lives on the Cape
we get together 2 or 3 times a year. We do a little running (again he's
way in front and I'm way in back) and we ran one of the MC marathons
together. He and his wife, Lucy, live in N.Y. and have two grown children,
John and Russell (sp?)
We currently live in the appartment over the ice cream shop. We sold our house last year, kicked the kids out and moved in. Sort of sent them all a message. Now this is mom and dad's spot. |

. So many years have passed and so much has happened...Mostly good things.
I married Bob McDonald from Hawthorne in May of '67 - Our daughter Ellyn was born in '68 and daughter Suzanne was born in '72.
In '73 we moved to Waterbury, CT - Dream come true - House, cars, kids, dogs - You know!
Ellyn became a nurse and is married with two children. Trent is 4 1/2 and Katherine is 18 months. Ellyn and her husband Larry live in Hamden, CT.
Bob will be retiring from SNET in February. He is also retiring from his Business Agent position with CT Union of Telephone Workers.
I will be retiring in 15 months - I have been working at Adult Education for the City of Waterbury for 18 yrs.
Bob and I discovered the wonderful world of the Mississippi River about 10 yrs ago. We have been on 8 trips on the Delta Queen Steamboat. We have "done" the entire Mississippi, the Intracoastal, the TN River, the Arkansas River, The Red River, The Ohio River and on and on... We would love to relocated to TN in a few yrs. We actually did go to TN last summer to start searching.
I just returned from FL - There is no grass growing under my feet. Good thing I married Bob. He loves to travel as much as I do.
That was 40 yrs in a nutshell!!! |

. It is rather overwhelming to have so many of you in my life with a single E-mail. Just wanted to let you know that Journey With Me is my nonprofit corporation and that I am Fran (Kelly) from Hawthorne. I am now Fran Lyons and live at 161 Morse Hill Road, Newbury, New Hampshire, 603-938-5398. My last ties with Hawthorne seemed severed when I moved my Mom out of our old home four years ago. She now lives across the field from me. My sister Kathy is in York, Pennsylvania. And now, here is an opportunity to reconnect with you. It is a small world indeed. On a trip to Scotland and England this summer I found myself lunching with a man who works in Hawthorne, lives in Ossining, and walks past our old house on his lunch hour each day. I look forward to seeing all of you at a class reunion. Would love to hear from you. |

. I have been retired for a year from IBM. After 35 years
I decided to hang it up. I may end up going back to work again just so I can runaway from the HONEY DO LIST.
We also spent a "few weekends" at Brown Univ. for my son's swimming. |

After graduating from college, I began work on my master's degree and in September of 1966, I started teaching at John Jay Junior High School in Cross River...a brand new school. Much to my surprise, on the first day of school, I discovered that Bob Cerrone would be the other seventh grade science teacher and Harry Barrett would begin teaching at the high school.
Bob enjoyed keeping live animals in his room and one day I heard a terrible commotion coming from that direction. I ran up and when got to his door I realized that he was yelling at the top of his voice at two of the animals telling them that they couldn't do that in school and they better stop...soooooooo funny!
Alan and I were married in 1972 and our son, Dan, was born in 1974. We've lived here in North Salem since 1976. Dan lives the good life in Manhattan and works for Vivendi Universal at Island Def Jam records...a dream job for him.
I taught for 32 years at John Jay, finally having children of former students. I also taught one of Stanley Starr's girls, both of Frank and Joan (Lescarboura) Trischetta's girls and the daughter of Dick Bolander and Jackie Pujol. I loved everything...well, almost everything...about teaching, but there's nothing like retirement!
Sorry John, but I just had to include that word. (of course she did! - Ed.) |

Boy, where does one begin?? Got married in 1971 to a great Armonk girl- Lesley Tompkins and began to work for Ciba-Geigy in Ardsley the same year. We moved to Greensboro North Carolina in 1973 with Ciba where I was Marketing Services Manager.
I am still with Ciba, now called Ciba Specialty Chemicals, after 31 years and 2 major mergers and spin-offs. I have been involved with computers for many years and managed the Information Systems Dept. I am currently Human Resource Manager for their Manufacturing Plant in Charlotte North Carolina. We have 2 children, Michael and Amanda who are both off on their own, Lesley and I are finally EMPTY NESTERS. I am a home improvement nut and really enjoy building things, I also accomplished a childhood dream of learning to fly and got my pilots license in 1988.
Lesley is a crafter and is into almost every craft you could imagine. It keeps her busy and she really creates some very nice things. I am looking forward to the reunion since I have lost contact with most of the BHS crowd. Bea Tribit Kruchkow is about the only classmate I have kept in contact with. It has been a great ride since 61. |

I live in the Bahamas, work for gov't contractor, Raytheon, Manager of Software Engineering. My two children are both married: Caitlin to Dan and Regan to Jeni, and Cait & Dan have a 2 year old named Quinn and Regan & Jeni are expecting in November. So this reunion will be the "meeting of the grandparents" among other things. I'm divorced (I almost didn't think to say that....it's been such a long time..1976).
So, re: Bob Amarell's quiz:
I drive a golf cart where I live, so I use hand signals all the time (I have an old golf cart). Also ride a bike, same deal. And I remember practically everything on the list.
I get to the states often though, and I have the luxury of island life at the same time as civilization: West Palm Beach, San Francisco (Caitlin) and Portsmouth RI (Regan), so I'm happy about that and don't feel deprived. The beaches here are beautiful. I live on Andros Island, which has a Navy base on it, which is where I work...after 10 years in the Virgin Islands, and 14 years on Aquidneck island in RI, and now this September will be 7 years on Andros Island, I think it's safe to say I'm an "island person."
Andrea Schulman Williams wanted to attend but won't be able to so I'll be taking notes for her.
My sisters and brother are all well, all in the Northeast:
Jill in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, dental hygenist, one son, Sean
Kerry in Brattleboro, Vt, psychciatric social worker, one daughter, Anna
Mark in NYC, Ground Manager for Jet Blue at JFK, two daughters, Kelly and Kate (soon to be a grandpa)
Kim in Saxton River, Vt, working with Vermont Bicycle Tours. |

," What (am I)doing in Minnesota????" Well, here's the story...
I left Briarcliff in August of '61 aboard a United airlines flight bound for North Dakota....and at that time it was the end of the earth. I guess my dad thought it would be good for me to get out of town and head to the University of North Dakota...the land off the Fighting Sioux! Well, my dad knew what he was doing.....in the long run, it was the best thing for me.
During my 5 years...yes, 5 Years!.....at UND...I had a lot of ups and downs.....joined a fraternity (Kappa Sigma)....discovered parties, Everclear (180 proof....good for making punch!)....sleeping late...attended class occasionally.....and eventually was asked to leave the U. because my GPA was in the dumper. I appealed....got back in on probation, cleaned up my act...and my GPA...made the Deans list, etc, etc....
I also met a young lady.....she was our fraternity Sweetheart....Chris....a young lady from Fargo of good Irish Catholic stock...and we struck up a relationship.....which progressed till my graduation when she, after her junior year, had to serve an internship in Medical Technology (her major).....she was assigned to Tacoma General Hospital in Washington. Yikes! I had a degree in Education and no job yet!!!!
Anyway, I was hired, sight unseen, at a K -8 school in Eatonville, Washington.....teachers were in demand at that time. So Chris and I were somewhat together...we saw each other on the weekends while I learned the teacher trade. We were married a year later in Fargo, North Dakota (1967) I loved teaching at my school....Columbia Crest Elementary School (K-8). It was close to the entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park....a beautiful area!!! I started spending time talking with kids...did some coaching....Girls volleyball (how about that?), assistant football, etc....was the AV person at school.....and decided I wanted to spend more time with kids so I decided to get a grad degree in Counseling. Also, if you know anything about Washington State....it RAINS all winter!!! After 4 years....and one child, Casey,......we decided to hit the road to Minneapolis..where we had friends.
Chris found a job as a Medical Technologist in Minneapolis and I headed to grad school to get my degree in Counseling and Guidance. I have been here at Rosemount Middle School since 1972. I thoroughly love this place but I have decided to retire this June.....it's time to go when some of the teachers were also students here...and I was their counselor!
We have two kids, Casey, graduate of Northwestern U. in Evanston, who now works for the Minneapolis Star and Tribune. (He was a National Merit Scholar......must have my wife's genes!) Mike is a grad. of Univ. of Wisconsin and is working for Wells Fargo Banks in Denver. (We love visiting Denver....a great town....especially Rocky Mountain National Park.)
Well, that's about it.....we have a summer cabin in northern Minnesota....."up north" as they say around here....I thoroughly love Minnesota and would never leave....the winters are a bit long but you really appreciate Spring....when it does arrive.
I head to Vegas once a year when school gets out.....I make my deposit...and go back the next year to try and retrieve it! We have a good time though. I also drive a '67 Mustang....summers only.
This is getting lengthy.....I received an email from Bill Holden ('60) this morning......now there is a guy who has had an interesting life....he lives on an island off the coast of Maine...with his own lighthouse.....some of you may already know this....esp. you, Bonnie.
Take care everyone and if you are ever visiting the Mall of America, give me a call....I'm 15 minutes away |

I live in Saratoga Springs, New York ("health, history and horses") and work in field management for State Farm Insurance...teaching financial planning and being a "business consultant/cheerleader" for 40 agents It was a long strange journey...school in Ct and finished at Trinity University, San Antonio, TX...some graduate work in Psychopharmacology (why not, it was the late 60's early 70's) at the University of Vermont where I met my wife, Judy. Short stint back in Briarcliff running the swimming pool business that my brother and I started during college...bailed out of that and went back to Vermont to find a life. Ended up a State Farm agent in Montpelier, Vt. then went into field management with them which took us to Portland, Me for 7 years then Rochester, NY and then in 1993, Saratoga which I love.
We have two daughters. Kathleen is in a graduate program in Art History and connoisseurship at Christies auction house in New York City, and my younger one, Sarah is in Madrid, Spain teaching English...hope to get her home next Summer and into graduate school or law school but with Sarah you never know...she would have loved the 60's.
I do not know when I will retire...having a ball working right now...finally figured the job out! Probably will cut back in three to five years and just do some financial planning on the side for a few clients...more golf and fishing and less work...and maybe a little British Virgin Islands in the Winter.
I keep a picture on the mantle in my family room of one of my favorite fishing trips...to Ely, Minnesota! It was special...eating Walleye Pike and hearing the wolves howl as I nodded off to bed. Sarah started college at Northland College in Ashland, WI...closest airport was Duluth. I've even had Saturday breakfast at Mickey's Dinner in St. Paul. And I've spent many Winter evenings curling. So Minnesota would be fine for me too as long as I could get away in the Winter. You live in a great place. |
