Summary: Elizabeth returns to Port Charles after five and a half years away with a surprise for
Ric.
Author�s Note: Okay, This is assuming that Elizabeth finds out all about Ric and his agenda after their date to the art museum on the night they made love for the first time. She left town without so much as a good-bye to anyone. She hasn�t kept in contact with anyone, and she changed her last name to Hardy so no one could find her.

�You know Mommy, I�m starting to like the hospital.� Erica informed Elizabeth as they stepped
out of the elevator. Audrey had called them at eight in the morning telling them to rush out there
because she had good news. Elizabeth couldn�t wait to hear it. She needed some good news
where her grandmother was concerned. After what Monica had told her the day before, she
couldn�t imagine what it was.
�Really?� Elizabeth asked her daughter. �Why�s that?�
�Because, every time we come here, I get to spend time with Grandma Audrey.�
Elizabeth smiled at her daughter. She had a way of looking at bad situations and pulling out the
one bright spot. �That�s true. I look forward to coming here now, too.�
�I wonder what she wants to tell us. I hope it�s something really good!�
�She said that it was.� Elizabeth said while entering her grandmother�s room. Audrey was dressed
and sitting in the chair at the side of the room. �Grandma? What are you doing out of bed? Get
back up there. And get back in your hospital gown. Are you crazy?� Elizabeth ran to Audrey and
tried to help her up.
�Hi to you too.� Audrey said. �And I don�t have to be in the god forsaken bed anymore. Or that
robe. I�m going home.�
�No no no you�re not. I don�t care if you�re bored here or not. You�re staying here until you�re
better!� Elizabeth argued. What was she thinking? She�s worked in the hospital long enough to
know you don�t just get to check yourself out whenever you want.
�Elizabeth!� Audrey yelled. �Monica discharged me. There�s nothing else that can be done here.
They�re letting me go home.�
Elizabeth froze. They were letting her go? But what about what Monica had told her? She said
that Audrey was sick and probably going to die. Does this mean she�s really going to be okay?
�So you�re better?�
�Well, they�re letting me go.� Audrey stated. She didn�t want to tell her granddaughter, but it was
because they knew they couldn�t help her. They didn�t want her to spend her last days cooped up
in the hospital. She was happy. Now she could spend much more time with her granddaughter and
great granddaughter.
�Oh my gosh! I�m so happy you�ll be coming home grandma Audrey.� Erica ran to her and gave
her a big hug.
�I�m happy too! This means you and me are going to have to make cookies tonight like I
promised!� Audrey said, setting Erica back down of the floor after their hug.
�You bet! I can�t wait!� Erica smiled. �But Mommy won�t be able to make them with us. She has
a date with Ric.
Audrey lifted her eyebrow. �Really?� She smiled at her.
�Well, I did, but I can cancel. If you�re coming home, I want to be with you.�
�Nonsense, Elizabeth. You go have a good time. I�ll be there when you get home.�
�Are you sure?� Elizabeth asked.
�Of course. You and Ric need to spend some time together. It�ll do you both a lot of good.�
�Yeah, you�re right.�

�I still can�t believe you�re a daddy.� Sonny smiled at Ric. They sat in Ric�s penthouse with Lucky
and Jason. They all had a beer and the television was set on football. It was just a typical guy�s
day.
�You can�t? I�m the one who is and just found out. Now I�m the one who can�t believe it.� Ric
laughed. �But I have to say, it feels so right. All of it. Being with Elizabeth. Spending time with
Erica. It fits.�
�You know what I just realized? I�m the only one in this room who has not dated Elizabeth.�
Sonny led the group, all except Ric, in a laugh.
�Thank you. Thanks, Sonny, for reminding me why I hated those two�� he pointed to Lucky and
Jason, ��when I came to town.�
�Well, you�re the only one she wants now.� Lucky pointed out while taking a swig of his beer.
�That�s right. She wants me.� Ric smiled to himself. He felt like the luckiest man on earth for
being able to say that truthfully. She did want him. She loved him. And he was going to give her
and Erica the best life possible.
�I heard from Carly that she ran into Elizabeth at the hospital and read her the riot act.� Jason
laughed into his beer.
Ric turned to Sonny. �Yeah, you need to keep your wife away from Elizabeth before she decides
I�m not worth putting up with Carly for.�
�Hey, do you really think I can keep Carly from doing anything?� Sonny asked. He made it sound
like a joke, but it was one hundred percent true. Carly was in complete control of that marriage.
�Oh, married life. I can�t wait.� Lucky laughed. �Courtney�s not going to turn into my cousin is
she? Because if I wind up married to Carly #2, I�m going to be out of there in a second.�
�Hey,� Sonny pointed at Lucky with a warning look. �You don�t hurt my baby sister, hear me?�
He joked. �I�ll be after you.�
�Yeah, yeah.�
�Just three more days until you got the ball and chain.� Jason taunted Lucky. �Of course, you and
Courtney�s upcoming wedding has only made things with Brenda worse. She�s eager for me to
propose.�
�Well, you�ve been together for three years. I think it�s about time.� Ric threw a couch pillow at
Jason. He needed to get off his ass and take Brenda off of the market before another guy comes
along and sweeps her off of her feet. Kind of like Ric did way back in the day. Jason was stalling
and Ric swooped in. But that was a completely different time. He has Elizabeth back now. And
she is all he needs.
�I guess. I just wish woman didn�t need the ring and the ceremony. We�re happy. We�re in love.
Why can�t it just stay like this?�
�Because that�s not how a woman�s mind works Jason.� Sonny laughed. �They need the paper
saying that if anything should happen, like you cheating or leaving, she gets half of your shit!�
�Oh, Brenda already has half of my shit. More like all of it, and she would just take it with her if
we ever split up.� Jason sighed. �But I�m sure I�ll be asking her soon. I went to the jeweler�s
yesterday to look at rings.�
�Hey, you never told me!� Lucky yelled. �I would have went with you.�
�So when are you going to ask her?� Sonny asked.
�Haven�t decided! I was just looking at them. I�ll probably just take her with me to pick it out
herself.�
�No no no!� Lucky insisted. �How you do it is just as important as doing it. Trust me!�
�So, is Ric going to be popping the big question to Lizzie any time soon?� Sonny asked with a
slight nudge to his brother�s side.
�Hey, we just got back together, kind of. We�re really just going on our first date in this new set
up. We have to see how it goes.� Ric smiled. He wasn�t going to admit it, but he was already
planning on how to ask.
