FAN FICTION- "THE ROOMS OF HOGWARTS"

By Katherine

Harry's view-ch 1-
"can you believe professor mcGongall gave us so much homework?" asked ron, while he, harry and hermoine walked towards the library.

"ron, honestly. she's right when she says our O.W.L.S. are coming soon." replied hermoine.

"you're one to talk! you could finish it in a second if you weren't always checking it 3 times and doing extra credit!" harry sighed. it didn't seem like hermoine and ron would ever learn to get along. now they were arguing about who was a better teacher, Binns or Trelawney. frankly, harry didn't care. he didn't like either. suddenly cho walked by. harry gave her a nervous smile and she gave him one in return. if only cedric hadn't died harry would've felt comfortable liking her. she had changed a lot and wasn't as social. just then they arrived at the library. instead of the hawk-like madam pince there, they met a strange woman in her place. she was a pudgy old lady with a grim look on her face.

"what do you want!?!?" she screeched. harry had never heard a more suspicious voice in his life. it sounded as if she suspected them of something.

"er, we were just going to use the library to study, ma'am."

"library-this is no library!"

harry waited for hermoine or ron to back him up but he heard nothing when he looked at them, they were gone!!

"wh-where a-are my f-fr-friends" he stuttered.

"what fiends? you're here by yourself!" the woman replied.

"b-b-but they were h-here a m-min-minute ago!"

"well they're not here now. so tell me why you're disturbing the ancient forbidden spell room!"

Hermoine's view-ch 2-
while harry was lost, hermoine and ron continued down the hall to the library. they were arguing so noisily they didn't even notice harry wasn't there. then they ran into snape.

"what are you doing?!?! you're disturbing the whole hall!" said snape nastily.

"sorry sir, we didn't mean to" said ron, glaring at him.

"oh you didn't mean to. how touching. that's 25 points from gryffindor each!" yelled snape, as loud as they were. "and a detention for your cheek, weakly. come with me. you'll serve it now.

ron walked off scowling with snape and hermoine continued to the library. she finally realized harry was gone. "probably off following cho again! really, i don't understand why he's gone bonkers over her." she said to herself. she turned where the library door was and walked in. suddenly a centaur stepped up to her.

"you cannot go any further without completing this question." said the centaur. then hermoine realized the centaur was firenze, who harry had once introduced her to.

"firenze! i can't believe you're here!" cried hermoine happily.

"oh my! it's the human hermoine! how lovely to see you!"

"can't you let me by? and please don't answer me with something about the stars."

"sadly, i cannot let you by until you answer the riddle. otherwise i would lose my job. and i have not yet resorted to the planets to see the future. i can see it many other ways as well." said firenze.

"oh, if you must. all right then, what's the riddle?" sighed hermoine.

"to enter this place, you alone must find

the creature you dread, one was made blind.

this creature, you know, fears what comes at dawn.

next in this riddle is what is left, after some is gone

and last is the word that fills in this space -

'i came, i saw , i _________' said caesar's face.

now string them together, and make up your phrase

and see the cleverness of this word maze" quoted firenze.

"wow, this is pretty clever. now just give me a minute" hermoine mumbled to herself and thought for a while. "alright, i have it. 'the basilisk remains conquered'" said hermoine triumphantly.

"very, very good" cried firenze. "you may enter. call me if you need help"

hermoine wondered why she might need help but nevertheless, she continued into the door. as soon as she entered, she saw a maze. though she didn't know why, she continued, only to find the bones of others who entered within. she turned to go and saw the entrance had closed.

ron's view-ch 3-
ron walked along silently by snape, to scared to say anything. when they reached his office he told ron to wait in there while he set up the detention. ron walked in miserably. only the room he walked into wsn't snape's office. it was a bright, cheery room with ghosts bickering. only these weren't the normal ghosts at hogwarts, these were large, angry ghosts.

"h-he-hello?" questioned ron, trembling.

"why, it's a human boy" cried one!

"of all things" said the biggest, a dark grey ghost of about 10 feet tall. "where did you come from?" he asked

"er-hogwarts." said ron. "where am i?"

"you are in a ghost meeting place. sadly, we have no use for you and must get rid of you before you tell others.

all the ghosts started to surround him, looking angry. "stop!" ron cried "i won't do anything, i promise! ill leave, ill never come back, please, just let me go!" cried ron.

"im sorry, my boy. perhaps we will let you go someday, but not now. you could give away our secrets." said the 1st ghost. ron took out his wand and cried

"Reducto"

but nothing happened because the ghosts weren't solid. Ron was trapped.

Cho's view-ch 4-
cho walked along the hall silently. she felt sad, as she usually did when she saw harry. he was a nice boy and she did like him a little but whenever she saw him he reminded her of cedric. she really had liked cedric. and actually, she didn't know how in the future, if cedric had lived, she would've been able to choose between them. and she felt bad when she had turned down harry for the yule ball. she was gonna have trouble getting over cedric and getting to like harry. because she knew she would like harry. she already did like him better than anyone else. she could go one with this debate in her head for years, but now she had arrived at the ravenclaw entrance.

"platform nine and three quarters" cho murmured, staring at her shoes. she walked in without looking at where she was going. she felt a icy breeze come over her and suddenly she realized she wasn't in the ravenclaw house. "where am i?" she screeched. as she looked up she saw something. it had haunted her in her dreams. she saw harry and cedric in the maze. harry got hurt by a giant spider. then they both grabbed the cup. cho was pulled along with them and saw Wormtail. she heard Voldemorts instruction to wormtail to kill cedric. she leaped in front of him.

Harry's conclusion-ch 5-
harry had finally gotten the odd stranger to let him in. he did this by telling her he was there on dumbledore's instructions. apparently anyone in hogwarts respected dumbledore. he saw all sorts of nameplates. each one had a name on it. tom riddle. bill weakly. Sirius black. Minerva mcgongall. frank Longbottom. ludo bagman. lots others. and then-last and biggest of all-Harry Potter.

"why, these are all people from hogwarts. and all of them have graduated-except me" harry said to himself. then he walked over to his name and touched it with his finger and suddenly he was whisked into it.

"not again" harry moaned. he was sick and tired of being in memories. now he saw the worst thing that he had always imagined-his parents the night they died. he saw Voldemort before he got his new body. he was strong, tall, frightening. he laughed mercilessly at harry's parent's. and laughing still, he cried the words

"Avda Kedavra!" and harry's father died. again-"Avda Kedavra" and his mother collapsed. then he turned to the baby harry. voldemort was confident. he never expected anything to go wrong. "ada kedavra" -aimed at harry and then-voldemort disappeared. the baby screamed and screamed until Hagrid arrived. then he saw himself in his 1st year at hogwarts, fighting Quirrel and voldemort. this was bad, but lily and James potter's deaths were worse. then his second year, when he saw tom riddle as a child and defeated the future dark lord. his third year, when he met sirius and peter. and last, worst of all, last year, when cedric died and voldemort rose. this was the most terrible.

and then he saw himself as he presently was-always worried about voldemort, always thinking about the dead. never living a normal life. ron and hermoine were worried too, but still were more normal. and harry knew that he had to stop living in the past. and suddenly, he was back in the hallway.

Hermoine's conclusion-ch 6-
hermoine continued in the maze, getting the idea this was somewhat like the last treasured challenge. she walked around, and then realized if she wanted to get out, she should use the four point spell. she would go towards the center and that meant she should go further south. the first thing she ran into was a hippogrif.

"this should be easy. all i have to do is pretend to honor it." as she said this, she bowed and the hippogrif looked about to charge. immediately she backed off and took a different route. it would take longer, but she had to stay safe. next she ran into a skrewt.

"oh great" she muttered. "well at least these dumb animals should be easier then a hippogrif." all of a sudden the skrewt tried to attack. "stupefy" she yelled. nothing happened. "stuepfy! impedmenta! stupefy!" still the skrewt remained. hermoine moaned. it was the 1st time she had ever had trouble with a spell. well, she would have to take yet another different trail. she ran into a grindylow. she was getting less confident, yet she got through him in a flash. feeling a little better, she walked on. now she saw a foggy blur. this was what harry had gotten through in the maze. he said just walk through it. convinced she couldn't fail, she skipped through and her foot got stuck while she was upside down. uh oh. every time she got too confident, she got delayed. maybe that had something to do with it. so she tried to take a cautious step and it worked!! it seemed like she had figured out the trick. once in the middle, she felt relieved. and she sat down and thought and after a while realized that she needed to stop bragging so much. or it would stop her friendships. and then she was next to harry in the deserted hall.

Ron's conclusion-ch 7-
ron sat in the corner, listening to the ghosts argue. it was all about things he didn't understand. probably some foreign language only perfect Percy knew. he felt angry with percy for getting the job at the ministry while he was tied up. at this thought, the ropes seemed to tighten. and then there was Charlie, off working with dragons. and Fred and george, making tricks. and Ginny, being spoiled by mollie weakly for being a girl. and bill, being wild and crazy with girls fawning over him. and hermoine, making top marks and harry defeating voldemort. with each jealous thought, the rope grew tighter. that was odd, ron thought.

now where was he? well he got ok marks. hermoine had said once he helped her practice her debating skills. and harry did confide in him a little. fluer had started to pay attention to him at the end of the year. his father had said he was dependable, that he wouldn't do anything stupid. he was just in between with everything. he guessed for now that was ok. and maybe if he tried to stop feeling so jealous of everyone, he'd do better. suddenly, he was whisked to the hogwarts hallway where hermoine and harry were there.

"that is amazing!" ron said to them.

Cho's conclusion-ch 8-
although cho leaped in front of cedric, the spell went right through her. she saw cedric's look of surprise. and saw him fall backward, dead. so this was how he had died. no one had been able to protect him, no matter what they did. harry stared at cedric, stunned. next wormtail dragged him off to tie him to the gravestone. cho saw wormtail bring up the bone. she saw him cut off his own hand-she shuddered at this-and worst of all, she saw him stab harry.

then voldemort rose. cho watched stunned as the death eaters arrived and saw who they were. as she watched harry try to duel with the dark lord, she saw how scared he really was. she saw the wands reverse. shocked, she watched cedric's body come back. she saw Bertha Jorkins and harry's parents. after harry's mom came out, harry ran. surprised that he would risk his own life to get cedric's body to hogwarts, she saw him get whisked with the cup. she followed along with him.

while harry got back to hogwarts, cho seemed to get stuck in midair. she thought about how quiet she had been lately and how she still hadn't gotten over cedric's death. she was always thinking about him. everything seemed to scream 'cedric was here!'. and she hadn't really tried to think about it. to get over cedric' death, she would have to start living in the real world.

and then she was in the hallway with ron, hermoine, and harry.

The explanation-ch 9-
"what happened?" she asked breathlessly.

"i wish i knew" said ron.

"it was amazing" said hermoine excitedly.

"that's the oddest thing Ive ever seen." murmered harry.

"i believe i can explain if you would all kindly enter my office" said a new voice. they turned to see professor dumbledore. they followed him wordlessly to his office.

once inside, they all sat in a chair.

"i am sorry if i have confused all of you" began dumbledore. "this was one of my experiments i wanted to test out. i thought it would work, and with so many people affected by voldemort's return here, i thought this is where it would be more helpful. you see, all of you had some problem." he looked at each of them and said "cho, you didn't even try to get over cedric's death. ron, you were so tired of living in people's shadow, you started to rebel. hermoine, you got too sure of yourself and made it known, and harry, you were worrying about dead people and living in the past."

everyone thought about this and realized it was true. they all had their problems.

"what i did was start with harry and just enchant one of the rooms he was going to enter. anyone who had a problem that he met up with had a room enchanted for them as well.

"that is pretty clever" said hermoine looking at dumbledore admiringly.

"unbelievable" cried ron. "that's amazing".

harry and cho just sat looking at him, stunned.

"now" said professor dumbledore "you have had quite enough of an adventure for now so i advise you to return to your common rooms."

they returned quietly and stopped at a parting in the halls. Ron and hermoine just said a fast "g'bye, cho" although harry stayed.

"that was kind of risky for dumbledore to try, don't you think" asked cho.

"i don't really think so" said harry. "i just think he had faith in us. and i guess it did really help. it sure helped me."

"that's probably true. i-i guess ill see you later" said cho shyly.

"ok" said harry, smiling. they parted and each went to their common rooms.

So now you know just how many secret rooms there are at hogwarts. some are always there, some come and go like the ones dumbledore enchcanted, and some aren't secret at all.

Snape's story-epilogue-
you have found out what happened to harry, hermoine, ron, and cho, but not what happened to snape. it is definite he has a problem. you see, snape's challenge was to be kinder to the gryffindor's, and to be fair to them. in his room, snape refused to admit he was wrong so he got stuck there and until he can admit he was wrong, hi will stay there forever. so now the gryffindor's are treated fairly by their new potions teacher, professor Delacour.
