Class Rules and Policies
Classroom Rules: These are not optional nor are they suggestions. Follow them!
1. Bring appropriate materials to class everyday: pen, pencil, notebook, homework, textbook, and a good attitude. Under no circumstances should you be without these. Class time cannot be wasted with you begging for these supplies. It is a distraction to all. After school detention will be assigned for those who chose to not bring these materials.
2. Show your respect to everyone. I will show you and your classmates respect; I expect this to be reciprocated. Lack of respect will result in immediate consequences.
3. Be in your seat when the bell rings. When I walk in the room, you should be ready to work. I will not tolerate wasting time getting you or your classmates ready to work.
4. Remain in your seat. When I am up teaching is not an appropriate time to sharpen pencil or go to the trashcan. When I am not teaching, you are free to take care of those necessities.
5. Do not talk or pass notes during class. There will be times everyday when you will have the opportunity to work in groups or discuss issues with a neighbor. It is rude to talk while others are talking and also very disruptive. If you have a question or issue, raise your hand; I will be happy to help.
6. Sleeping or having your head down in class will not be allowed at any time. If you are too sick to stay alert, you do not need to be at school.
7. Also, do not interrupt instruction to ask for make-up work. Wait until an appropriate time to check for missed work. If you have questions or need help with missed work, you must come to after school tutorials. I cannot teach you the concept you missed during class time.
8. Be ready to learn and excel. Everyone can learn and succeed. While I was a horrible math student, I still succeeded in my own way by working hard. Show me the desire and willingness to learn, and I will show you the way to succeed. It is a team effort. I cannot make you learn unless you let me.

Classroom Policies
1. Being tardy=ASD (After-School Detention) Be on time!
2. Being absent puts students behind. You will discover that a significant amount of material can be covered in one day on a block schedule. Unless it is necessary for illness or emergencies, be here. It is much easier to learn it when I teach it in class.
3. If you are absent, all work must be made up. It is your responsibility to get the work. All work and lessons will be in your classs make-up book. You will have five (5) days to make up the work. After the five days, you will not have the option to make up the work. This includes tests and quizzes also.
4. Late homework is a major issue. Homework is designed to help students practice a concept. We will go over the previous nights homework the next day in class. If you do not have the work, it is not fair to let you turn it in late without severe penalty since you had the benefit of hearing the answers and explanations. Late homework will be given a maximum grade of 50 if it is turned in the following day. Ten points will be deducted everyday after that point. If late homework is a habitual occurrence, ASD will be used to help you find time to complete the assignments.
5. All tests and quizzes must be made up after school. Do not ask to do them during class time. You will not be allowed to do so. On rare occasions, you may be allowed to come during your lunch to make up a short test or quiz. If you are absent the day before an announced test, you still will have to take the test on your return.
6. Eating is not allowed in class. I will allow water or sports drinks in bottles with lids. No lid=no drink. Also, you may have mints or gum as long as it does not become a distraction with people ask others for these things. You may not have food in the class.
