System Of A Down on the frontline HOME
System
System Of A Down dont mince their words. In such a conservative system where everyone is afraid to express their views for fear of being labelled anti-patriotic, the group has to many ideas to keep quiet. They reacted to the attacks in New York (see www.systemofadown.com) condemning those responsible and sending a message of support to families of victims. Serj Tankian wrote an essay in which he blamed, amongst other things, the overseas policy and imperialism of the US government since the end of the First World War, as well as US actions in the Middle East intending to maintain relations with oil-producing countries. He sent the essay to American talk-show host Howard Stern, a forerunner of the crud talk-show format without whom Maurice, Arthur and Max Difool would not exist. The text was like a bomb. The host, who is used to controversy, accused SOAD of treachery and invited Serj to explain himself on air. At a time when criticism of the US war effort is seen as treachery, SOAD showed once again that they re not afraid to stand on the frontline.
