| 2000: How was it for you? "It was great. We got off the road for the first time in two-and-a-half years and we're going to make another album pretty soon. in that way, it's been pretty creative and it's nice being home. i'n very thankful for being where we are, and I hope to continue doing it for a while." Album of the year? "I don't know. I've been listning to the latest Sunny Day Real Estate, the new Cyprus Hill, and an album by Flogging Molly - this irish-styled punk band. Eminem's 'Marshall Mathers LP' is pretty interesting, but I don't know what the album of the year is - though if Faith No More was still making albums then it would be easy." Film of the year? "I don't watch movies or TV much. I barely see a movie the whole year. I reacntly saw 'Almost Famous' Which I thought was interesting, entertaining and very funny." Person of the year? "You" Wanker of the year? "Gore and Bush and the rest, except for (Green Party Leader) Ralph Nader" Tragedy of the year? "There were manty tragedies: the East Timor/Indonesian events, all the ariplanes that crashed. Too many." Personal high point of the year? "Coming back home after touring for two-and-a-half years." Personal low point of the year? "The resumption of war in the Middle East." Who have you fought this year? "The IRS... just kidding. Probably myself, who I fight every year!" The must-have item of 2000 was? "This pocket pager thing, an interactive email/pager. Very important for me." Where did you go on holiday this year? "I don't think I did Worst hangover of the year? "I haven't drunk much this year, so no hangovers" Weirdest fan request of the year? "This guy emailed me yesterday talking about different bands. I've answered a couple of his emails. He said that he and I are destined to be the two kings of rock 'n' roll together. I forwarded it to my manager and asked him if he knew who this was, since he was starting to scare the shit of me!" Most famous person you met this year? "Tony Iommi, maybe. I met a lot of famous people this year, so I'm not sure." Most embarrassing moment of the year was... "Right this minute with these questions." Sexist person you met this year was? "My right hand" Best band you saw this year? "I haven't actually seen this band, but I like bigself a lot. They're from Los Angeles but they play Europe more than here. I really like that music, very progressive and beatle-esque. It's very classic, very classic and very cool. I saw Flogging Molly recently and I thought they were a really good band live with that Celtic sound. i don't go to shows much, I try to avoid them" Best song you wrote this year? "No iead. You can't call any of them the best. I've been writing a lot of songs in my home studio in a lot of different types of music, some electronic music, some stuff that's nothing like System. I've been doing work with a female Scottish vocalist by the name of Petra Jolly who I started working with about a year ago. I think is going to be called 'Inner-Mission'. But I can't really say that one of those is the best, from an acoustic, beautiful song to one that's heavy, to an electronic song." Joke of the year? "I don't know what the joke of the year was, but the latest one I heard was, 'You mam's so fat, she was wearing a Malcolm X shirt and a helicopter tried to land on her." 'Big Brother': ace or arse? "I don't watch TV." What should Slipknot do next year? "I wouldn't know. Ask Slipknot" |
