The Rae family
Great-grandfather George Rae was a Switcher at a rail yard.
He is the man on the right.
Very little is known about this family.
I find the photographs interesting so we will have to let them tell the story.
Rae brothers.
One of them is Edward.
George Rae
to us he is g-granddad
Ann Rae, Maggie Littlejohn-(back) and __?__
Anne Rae came to Canada with her best friend Maggie Littlejohn.
Maggie may have been Anne's cousin.
father:
George Rae
mother:
Ann Brise
children:
John
Bill
Ann
Edward
Picture reads: Lincon Street From Castle Street, Aberdeen
George Rae was also an Agricultural Labourer (farmer) and had a farm just outsie of Dundee.
One of Edwards brothers was killed over seas during the war. A bridge was blown up as the troops were crossing it.

Registered 28th December at Cootney.  Buried in grave 19 row 17 sec. 14A.
On Ann Rae's birth certificate
under the heading:
Name, and Maiden Surname of Mother it says:
Ann Rae then under it is written
M. S. Brise
Can anyone tell me what this means.
If her name was Ann Brise then what does the capitalized M. S. mean?
<--------------
Ann (Brise) Rae was killed by one of the first streetcars (or trolly's) that ran in Aberdeen

She was coming home from a busy day of shopping with her arms full of packages. She exited the streetcar and then stepped in front of it. Being so weary, she was not paying attention to her surroundings nor the operation of such a vehicle.

She was still a very young woman. She was in her early 40's so I have been told.
Apparently, he was known
as quite a drinker in his day.

The Rae Children
Ann pronounced Annie had two brothers,
John and Bill. These young men were Monks
during the war. As the story was told, they
were de-frocked and thrown out of France.
Had they been spies or were they simply using the monastery as a place in which to hide?
