Dear Journal,

We didn’t do much today, we did go to Red Lobster and eat. Kim and I only went swimming for about 45 minutes. I still ended up getting sunburned yesterday and today; regardless of how much sunscreen I put on.

Dear Journal,

This morning Kathy and I woke up early because Kim kept on talking in her sleep and kicking us; she also kept screaming, “Move, move,” and, “No, no”. At one point she started singing, “Lalalala,”. As a result Kathy and I got up and we decided to take a walk on the beach. Yesterday, I think I forgot to mention that I had a temperature of 101. So my Mom took me to the doctor and he gave me some penicillin, some sinus Dimetapp stuff, and some cream for my sunburn. Later on today we grilled hamburgers, and had those with chips for dinner. After dinner Kathy, Kim, and I went to play Putt-Put.

Dear Journal,

My Mom, Dad, Kim, and I went to Marineland today, around 11 this morning and didn’t get back until about 1. Then we went downtown to see all the historic sites they had. My Mom, Kathy, Kim, and I went on this horse and buggy ride through town; which wasn’t so bad. Then we stopped at some place to get some cappuccino and we also ended up getting some pizza. After that we all went to a war museum which was pretty interesting, and we went to a candy store. Then while my Mom went to look at some places Kathy, Kim and I went on this tour where this lady showed us around some areas and told us “true” ghost stories about them.

Dear Journal,

We didn’t do much today, Kim and I ordered pizza from Pizza Hut for dinner, while everyone else went out to eat. So while we were home by ourselves we decided to pick a song to make up a dance to perform for everyone. We started it, but when everyone got back we were only halfway done, so we went to the beach and took Kim’s boom box with us; plus we got to see the fireworks since today is Independence Day. Then the tape started to mess up so we had to pick another song and start over, so we ended up only performing halfway through the song.

Dear Journal,

Today is our last day in St. Augustine, and at the beginning of the day I went ahead and planned what I was going to do. I basically decided that I was going to stay inside and read, watch television and relax. Kim wants to go swimming of course, and I don’t so my Mom overheard our conversation about it and offered to go swimming with Kim. So they left and thirty minutes later Kim comes running in and tells me that these guys we saw earlier who we thought were really cute were at the pool and begged me to go back out there with her. I didn’t want to go to the pool though because I was just tired. Then she left and came back in later on and asked me again and I said no, and then the third time she did this it was about 6 p.m. and I finally said yes.

Dear Journal,

We left and went home today. Kim and I slept most of the way home though. When we did get home Kim called her Mom and her Mom said she would come and get her. Then we called Mom and Dad on the car phone to let them know we were here, and they let us know they wouldn’t be home until late. After Kim’s Mom came and got her Kathy and I went to the mall, got some dinner and walked around for awhile and when we got home, Mom and Dad were already here. Then I went to bed and had a really nice rest.

Dear Journal,

I left home today with Kathy. I am spending 2 weeks at Kathy’s house, then 1 week at Aunt Susan’s. Kathy is supposed to take me to Aiken, South Carolina to Aunt Susan’s house at the end of the 2 weeks. When Kathy and I did arrive at her house, we went to her nephew, Christopher’s birthday party, he turned four today. I got to see Mert and Alan, Keith’s parents, and Angie, Keith’s sister, and Christopher’s Mom.

Dear Journal,

I went to the lake with Kathy, her friend Misty, and Misty’s younger sister, Lindsey. Lindsey is eleven years old. She seemed pretty nice, we found things to talk about at least. When we got home from the lake Misty and Lindsey stayed for a little while. After they left Kathy fixed Keith and I tacos for dinner, which were pretty good.

Dear Journal,

Kathy and I went to run some errands today, but before we went anywhere Keith’s Aunt Ruth called and invited us to come over and go swimming, since she has a pool because they were having a little get together at her house. I met one of Keith’s cousins, Melissa there. She’s 11 years old, but when I first saw her I thought she was like 13 or 14. After we left Ruth’s house we had to go to the mall and meet Trista, Kathy’s best friend. Trista and I had to try on our bridesmaid dresses and see what alterations needed to be made, and while that was going on Misty happened to walk in the store. So as a result we all went to Shoney’s to eat.

Dear Journal,

Kathy and I made chocolate chip cookies today, but we had to make two batches because the first batch got burned. See Kathy left and told me to take them out when the timer went off and I said okay, so while I was waiting I decided to go outside for a little while and by the time I came in smoke was coming out of the oven. The second batch did fine though. Later on Christopher and Angie came over and brought pizza from Papa Johns. Unfortunately I am not too fond of Papa Johns, but I still ate some anyway.

Dear Journal,

Kathy and I went to Wal-Mart and we decided to make chocolate chip cookies again. I also came up with the idea that we should make our own pizza, so we decided to have everything home made, including the dough. When we got home we made the cookies first which turned out okay. Then we each made our own pizza, we put pepperoni, beef, and ham on them, they turned out pretty good. For dessert we had the cookies, so that was all real nice.

Dear Journal,

Kathy, Keith and I decided to go see a movie, “Independence Day”. So Kathy and I waited until Keith got home to figure out what time we should go, which ended up being 10 p.m. We left at like 8 though so we could stop by Burger King and get something to eat first. Then to kill some time we went to Wal-Mart. The movie really surprised me it wasn’t at all what I expected, but it was still very good, I enjoyed it a lot.

Dear Journal,

We really didn’t do much today since we were supposed camping, but it started to rain. At one point we did go to Standing Stone park, which was alright. Eventually though I got really homesick, and told Kathy. So she let me call Mom and they decided to meet somewhere halfway tomorrow, so I could go home.

Entry 100

7-14-96

Dear Journal,

I had to get up at 11:00 today since we had to leave at 12:00 and meet my Mom at 2:00. I was pretty tired the whole time because I stayed up pretty late the night before, so I got dressed and packed my things. Then I told Keith bye, since he wasn’t coming with Kathy and I to meet my Mom and also said bye to all of their animals. When we finally got to the meeting place I was quite thrilled to see my Mom, but didn’t really express it. I was even more excited when we got home!

Entry 101

Dear Journal,

I was happy to be home today. My Mom is teaching at summer school so she was gone for most of the morning. I on the other hand didn’t get up until like 1. I called Amy for a little while. We started to talk about movies, and eventually decided we would go see, “The Nutty Professor,” together.

Entry 102

7-16-96

Dear Journal,

I stayed home again today while my Mom went to teach summer school.  I sure am glad I don’t have to go to summer school that would suck to have to waste your summer like that.  I mean summer is when kids are supposed to be able to have fun and relax, at least I thought that is why we had summer breaks from school.  I mean if kids fail a grade they fail…it’s not the teacher’s fault so I really don’t think the teacher should have to suffer in going to teach during the summer either.

Entry 103

Dear Journal,

My Mom and I got up at 4 in the morning today, so we could get up to the square to see the torch come by for the Olympics. I ended up having to go to summer school with my Mom because she didn’t have time to take me home. So after that was over my Mom and I went out to eat at Knickers, then we went home and relaxed most of the day. I must say I am so glad I don’t have to go to summer school, I mean it is summer this is the one time of year kids have time to relax and just have fun.

Entry 104

7-18-96

Dear Journal,

I stayed home once again while my Mom went to teach summer school. I talked to a few people on the phone including Amy and Alicia. When Amy and I talked for a little while we decided that she could spend the night with me tomorrow night (Friday). Then the next night we would go and see a movie.

Entry 105

7-19-96

Dear Journal,

Today I went to summer school with my Mom and I had to help the kids even though I didn’t want to, I just didn’t feel comfortable arguing with my Mom in front of them about it so I just went ahead and did it. Amy came over around 6 today. We went outside, watched movies, and played cards. We decided we are going to see, “Kazaam”, instead of the other movie. Amy and I slept in the living room on the couches, but we stayed up until about four in the morning. My cousin Sarah also stayed over tonight.

Entry 106

7-20-96

Dear Journal,

Amy and I woke up at about 11, and finished watching a movie we started last night. Then we played cards for a little while, and then got ready for the movies. After we bought our tickets we went to the snack bar place and I bought a slushy, cherry flavored. Amy and I split a large popcorn, we each paid half for it. The movie itself wasn’t really that great though.

Entry 107

7-21-96

Dear Journal,

Today after church I asked my Dad if he would fix my VCR and he said in awhile. Then I asked my Mom and she said yes. While my Mom was trying to fix it my Dad came in my room and started to fix it. Then both my parents started yelling at me for my room being so messy. After my Dad hooked the VCR up to the TV he told me I was grounded to my room and from the phone until I cleaned up my room.

Entry 108

7-22-96

Dear Journal,

Amy was the only person that called me today and I wasn’t allowed to talk to her. But I still spent the whole day in my room because I refused to let anyone tell me how I should keep my room, which contains part of my own individuality. But before I went to bed I decided to just go ahead and get it overwith so I wouldn’t have to have another screaming match with my parents.

Entry 109

Dear Journal,

After my Mom came home from school today Christy came over for a little while. You know what though?? I seriously don’t think I like Dan anymore, because when I called Christy earlier and he picked up I really didn’t feel a thing! So Christy and I really didn’t do much, but play a few games, and she didn’t leave until about 9:30.

Entry 110

7-24-96

Dear Journal,

Around 1 Christy called and asked if I able to do something again today, and my Mom said yes, so she came over. All she did the whole time was play with my cat and dogs. I kept asking her if she wanted to play games and she continued to say no. Eventually she left though.

Dear Journal,

When my Mom got home today she called and talked to Aunt Kathy for awhile. Then she played scrabble and 2 rounds of Channel Surfing with me. After we got through she told me she was going to visit Aunt Kathy for tomorrow and stay overnight then come back the next day. I asked her why and she told me because she sounded really depressed and confused and needs someone to take care of her right now, which is also the reason I can’t go.

Dear Diary,

My Mom woke me up at 10 am and told me she was leaving, so we gave each other a hug and she left.  I had to stay home by myself until my Dad got home from work which was around 5 pm.  I basically watched movies the whole time though.  When my Dad did get home we discussed where we were going to eat at because whenever my Mom leaves we always go out to eat and we finally decided on Knickers.  I got Sprite to drink and a salad with Ranch and for my meal I got the American Cheeseburger (again) with french fries of course.  It was all very delicious.

Entry 113

Dear Diary,

My Mom came home today which is a good thing I guess.  Other than that not much eventful happened, excluding that this is the last time I will be writing in this journal.
