The Fear Of God Beloved Servant Oct 18, 2005 There is no fear of God in the world and even in the church. People fear death, sickness, lack, and disasters, but they do not have a fear of God. The EYE of the God is open those who fear Him, and upon those who hope in His mercy, to deliver them from death and to keep them alive in famine. Psalm 33:18-19 This covers any disaster any sickness and is for those who TRUST FULLY IN HIM. On the internet daily we are bombarded with messages either about all the events and disasters happening around the world, or conspiracy theories. The problem is that for some people they incite fear, father than faith, and we are to look to God and fear Him, rather than the event or even the judgements. God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. We are not to fear any of the things we see in the news, we are to fear God, no only to worship and revere him as we have been taught in church, but to fear His awesomeness and His fearfulness, even to be afraid, He controls everything, and He kills and He makes alive, He controls the wind, and the sea, He controls the earth, so everything is in His hand, and if we refuse to heed the warnings to repent of our life of living unto self, then we can not blame God when He brings judgement. The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut them off from the remembrance of them on the earth. This includes anyone that is disobedient and does not repent. Psalm 34 tells us that we will not suffer want if we FEAR GOD, he tells us to keep our tongue from evil, keeping our lips from speaking deceit or lies, departing from all evil and pursuing peace. The eyes of the Lord are upon the RIGHTEOUS, His ears are open to their cry. And the angel of the Lord encamps round about those that fear him, and delivers them. If we are walking with the Lord, we do not have to fear any of these things because the word promises that if we fear God, He will protect us. The thing most people do not look at is God 's promises are yea and amen, they are true, and all we need to do is believe Him for His word, but there are certain conditions that go with His word. The Lord draws near to those who have a broken heart and a contrite spirit, He draws near when we are broken over our sins, and are truly sorry for them, having a repentant heart. The Psalm goes on to say that many are the afflictions of the righteous, we are not kept from afflictions but the Lord will deliver the righteous out of them all. He watches over you to keep your body from being broken, and to redeem the soul of His servants, and none that absolutely trust in Him shall be desolate. Many Pastors and teachers teach that the fear of the Lord is to just worship and to revere the Lord, and yet in the concordance it speaks more to be afraid, to fear, to frighten, of His dreadfulness, especially in the context of the verses I just gave you, in Psalm 33, and 34. The word fear speaks to me exactly as the word says, the The Lord is against those who do evil, to wipe them off the face of the earth, and all remembrance of them. I don't believe we are to go through life shaking in fear of God, but we are to have a healthy fear of Him because He hates sin. I believe that those who just teach that the fear of the Lord is justs to worship Him and revere Him, has caused believers to live carelessly, and unbelievers to completely find God a joke. They have no fear of God at all. It is very clear in the word that to fear God, is to depart from evil. This is not to say we are to fall apart in fear every time we slip, but we have to realize that today is much different than the early church, they knew the fear of God. Remember Ananias and Saphira? They fell dead because they lied to the Holy Spirit, now that was not just worship or reverence we are speaking about here, this shook the church, just as many other incidents when they saw the power of God. It is a fearful thing, to fall into the hands of the Living God. Heb 10:31 A Christian does not need to fear a sudden judgement coming upon him or her if they are walking in obedience, trusting Him, not just lips service but truly TRUSTING IN HIM AND HIS MERCY. There is a point where after you are warned and warned and you still go on in your sin, you will face fearful judgement unless you truly repent. The problem today is that there is so much erroneous teaching out there, watered down gospel and because the average Christian never goes to the word of God his or her self to see the truth, they walk in error all their life, often thinking they are all right because their Pastor told them God is a God of love and will not bring judgement, or disasters upon them. Many by saying that, are throwing out half of the bible, they throw out all of the old Testament, many do not even teach on the Old Testament. This is the example of erroneous teaching, and is a deception to the body of Christ. And has caused so many believers to not FEAR GOD, and so they never put their full trust in God. Yes, Jesus Christ is love, but if you read to the end of the book you find out that Jesus Christ is also a God of judgement. So many parents today are so indulgent in raising their children, if they want something they scream until they get it, their parents love them so they don't ever get disciplined, and they just figure God is just like that. But God is not like that, He disciplines BECAUSE HE LOVES US, because he knows what is good for us. And God said He will not always strive with man. In other words, He will put up with sin so long, and then comes the tribulation. Grace only stretches so far. Wake up! And repent if you are still doing those things that God hates, it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. David said He sought the Lord and He Heard him, we have to be seeking the Lord continuously. David also acknowledged his sins and confessed them and the Lord in His faithfulness forgives all of our sins. But be assured if you go on in your sins, you can't expect God to save you in the time of judgements, famine, disasters and the time of trouble, for His eyes are upon the righteous. Those that fear Him. As I said in my last message the Lord created us to be in His image, but we lost that by our sin, He has given us the opportunity to be once again in His image of holiness, love and peace, by the redemption plan but if we are in sin we are not in His image or reflecting His glory. Saints we are to fear God, and His righteous judgments. If we sin willfully after we have received the truth there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins but a certain fearful expectation of judgement and fiery indignation, which will devour His adversaries. And if you are in sin, no doubt you are in league with his adversaries. Psalm 91 is very clear as to who He will protect, those who abide in Him, and those who love Him, He will deliver. When we love Him, so much He is our LIFE, OUR HOPE,AND TRUST AND WE FEAR HIM, He watches over with his eyes so He will send His angels to keep charge over us, and keep us from harm. This is love, He loves the righteous and hates those who do evil. Do not be deceived God is not mocked, He knows who really loves Him, by the way they live their life, they either live it wisely, or live it foolishly. Fear God, Oh you Saints, live unto God only. If you are still in sin, repent while the door of opportunity is still open, and make Him your all and all. |
