Calling all sportsmen and women; Id like to introduce our 2003 Livingston County NRA Youth SportsFest to you, and invite you and members of your group to attend this event on August 16th 17th, 2003 at A-On-Do-Wa-Nuh Sportsmens Club in Cuylerville, NY. In years past, we have had 200 to 300+ youth participants for our single day events. With a renewed Spirit of the Wild, we will expand this event to include two days, in hopes of introducing our various outdoor heritages to 500+ kidsand some adults too. This is a hands on type of day, loaded with instructions and without any vendors. In a nutshell, our NRA Youth SportsFest is about introducing all our youth to various outdoor activities in a safe and fun environment. Certified firearm instructors will give detailed firearm safety classes to all event participants, emphasizing range safety and range rules. Youth participants, who meet our age restrictions, will be given further instructions on the firing line, and allowed to shoot our .22 rim fire rifles in various shooting positions with one on one instruction. These same rules apply at our trap shooting station, where expert trap shooters will be on hand to give further instructions on 20 and 12 gauge shot guns.and allow youth participants the opportunity to shoot a few clay birds. We are also looking to expand our ability to promote muzzle loading activities, and will use our existing rifle range or establish a new oneif there is enough interest from instructors / organizations. Certified archery instructors will be on hand introducing bowhunting and target archery to every event participant. On one archery range, we will have various 3d and bag type targets and several instructors giving basic archery instruction. On another range, we will have aerial archery targetsan event favorite. We also have an area available for a short 3d course..if there is enough interest from instructors / organizations. Fishing instruction opportunities abound as we will make our huge reservoir and small pond available for various fishing activities. We have large areas of lawn, without any trees, available for various casting instruction and demonstrations. We also have areas for boat safety instruction or other fishing related activities. A-On-Do-Wa-Nuh Sportsmens Club is making its entire facility available, including the clubs big hall, various pavilions, and buildings as well as acres and acres of lawn space available to help introduce our various outdoor heritages to our youth. The club is also opening the kitchen to provide a free hot dog and soda to every youth participant !! So, if your group is interested in hearing further details on supporting our Livingston County NRA Youth SportsFest, you can contact me, Larry Wooster at 585-382-3166. There will be an informational / organizational meeting at A-On-Do-Wa-Nuh Sportsmens Club on April 8th, 2003 at 7PM. I will be on hand at the club all day from 8AM until long after the meeting is over, so if anyone cant make the meeting at 7PM they can stop by the club whenever they can on April 8th. We will also be having a venison dinner that night at 6PM for instructors and organizational leaders.
