Heres my tutorial on how to get mIRC and use it. Here you will learn what exactly is IRC.
Well IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat... As you can see with the name, its a chat program. It allows you to join many of the IRC servers and chat with many people all over the world or just your friends in real time. Most top gamers that clan and play in the leagues use this program. Theres about 2 main servers that these clans go on. They are QuakeNet and GameSurge. Our channel is on GameSurge so we'll stick with that. So first you need to download mIRC. Where can I get it? Well, I did all the work for everyone and will supply the link for you! Click here http://www.mirc.com/get.html Now click on any of the servers to start downloading. Don't worry, its only 1.24MB. Install, then run. There should be a window that says that you are using a evaluation copy of mIRC, but not to worry. You will be able to use this wonderful program after you've passed the 30 day trial period without ANY penalty. I've been using it for over a year so you can rest easy! :) Click on "Continue" The mIRC Options window should now be on your screen. First we are going to ignore all of that you see right now and click on "Options" which is under the "Category" menu to the left of that same window. Click on "Perform..." Now check the box that says "Enable perform on connect" Then type this passage exactly on the text box(without quotes): "/join #livewirekapolei" Then click on "Ok" Now what did we just do here? This is a short cut to joinning the channel. Now you don't have to join it manually EVER again! Wahhoooo! So now go back to your connect screen. To do this just click on "Connect" which is on top of that same menu to the left. Now you can type everything that you need here.... Name, Email Adresss, Desired Usename/Nickname, and Alternative Nickname. Make sure you have a very uncommon username for your alternative nickname. You won't beable to connect to any channels if someone is using that same name that you have chosen. After thats all done, click on the picture that looks like a sun. On the drop down menu that says "IRC Network", scroll all the way down until you have found "GameSurge". Then click on it. Now go to the "IRC Server" drop down menu and click on "GameSurge: Random US Server" Then click on the box that says "Connect To Server" Great! Now you are connected to IRC, AND it automatically joinned Live Wires channel. Theres a window that says "mIRC Favorites". You can go ahead uncheck the box that says "Pop up favorites on connect" at the bottom of this window, then close it. Yay now you can start chatting with whoevers in there! You can double click on the person's name for a private chat or just talk in the open room. You can tweak the colors and settings around a bit, but I won't go into detail about that. For those of you that need access(channel powers/abilities) to this channel. I will then give you instructions on IRC on how to get that setup.
