On Sunday 24th August 2003,  Liverpool Uniting Church at a congregational meeting affirmed the following.   It was also passed at our Church Council Meeting on Monday 25th August.

At Liverpool Uniting

1.  We believe that Jesus Christ came for sinners, and he can bring forgiveness, healing and wholeness to all people, including those broken in sexuality, and suffering with addictions.

2.  We too are sinners and need this forgiveness and healing of Christ

3.    With Gods help, and in Jesus name  we will welcome all people to become part of this congregation, and in love will  pray for their transformation, as we do our own,  through faith in Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.

4.   While welcoming all people, we believe  those who become leaders in this congregation , should have grown to live a consistent  lifestyle  with Christlike behaviour, through the ongoing work of Christs healing and grace in their lives.  This includes holiness in such areas as relationships ,   addictions,   finances, and sexuality.  We believe the sexual ethic for our leaders should be   faithfulness in marriage and celibacy in singleness.
Leadership includes such roles as minister, elders, preachers, sunday school teacher, youth leaders, small group leaders  and worship leaders.
