Dawn

De..rrr..de..ti.titi, I stir and wake.
Quietly, slowly, I posture for a glimpse.

De..rrr..de..ti.titi, my visitor, so intent.
De..rrr..de..ti.titi, celebrating the calmest part of day.

Soon, bright is the morn, routine bustle begins.
But my new friend cant be found, only familiar and commonplace.

Maybe tomorrow, Ill get to see, that elusive winged sprite.
If not, please let me hear, just once more, that sweet tune.

De..rrr..de..ti.titi, Dawn comes once again.
Lively and yet methodical, full of promise and exuberant cheer.

Just as quickly she disappears, why does it have to be so.
How cruel and tormenting, to live but for a sliver of joy.

Only by dreaming am I fulfilled, I get to finally see.
A form to go with the voice, an attitude and some creed.

In Eden safe and carefree, Dawn dances in the wind.
Radiant and full of life, a spirit in harmony.

I plot a way of trapping her, but no, I couldnt carry that through.
Peace is what she glorifies, to teach all whod stop to hear.

De..rrr..de..ti.titi, each day, its always the same.
Dawn comes and then hides, curse the sun, for being so bold.

Just once, stop where you are, hang balanced in time.
Let encore follow encore, fill the world to gorging spill.

If not then let me fly, let me escape this lifes glare.
Ive become my own prisoner, I have no reason to stay.

Let me fly off to Eden, to live out all of my dreams.
To create my own special song, and avoid ordinary.

"Dawn" was inspired by a morning wake-up call on a camping trip. I had never heard the odd song before and to this day don't know it's origin.
