Liu Shueh-shuan (born 1969), Taiwanese composer, percussionist and conductor. He studied at California State University at long Beach music department, with Dr. Martin Herman, and received "1997 In Recognition of Outstanding Achievement in Composition". He is now one of the most active composers in Taiwan. His wide ranges of work including orchestral music, chamber music and Chinese orchestral music have become the most performed compositions in Taiwan.

"Psychoanalysis Cell"  (for projector, voices and chamber orchestra) world premiere conducted by him-self was his first multimedia experimental piece. "GUI-ZE" awarded the gold prize of the international composition contest "Council for Cultural Affairs 2003 Traditional Music Composition Contest (CCA-TMCC) " (ensemble category). "Second Erhu Concerto" awarded the silver prize of the "CCA-TMCC 2003" (concerto category). "Busia 1930" awarded the bronze prize (gold prize was not given) of the "CCA-TMCC 2002" (orchestra category). "Paintings of Lee Mei-shu" orchestra suite commissioned by the Taipei County Government and Li Mei-shu Memorial Gallery. Performed by Taipei County Symphony Orchestra (TCSO) and conducted by him-self. Taipei metropolitan government for the Chinese festival "Taipei Lanterns Festival" 2001 and 2002 commissioned the music for main themes. "First Concerto for Erhu" for the Finals of "The Taipei International Competition for Chinese Instrument" commissioned by the Taipei Metropolitan Chinese Orchestra (TMCO) has become the most well-known erhu concerto in Chinese music world. "The Wish" (for mixed chorus, child chorus, soprano and Chinese orchestra) for "The New Century" concert commissioned by National Chiang Kai-shek Cultural Center and the National Chinese Orchestra (NCO), performed by the NCO, TMCO, BCC Chinese Orchestra, National Chorus and the Taipei Chen-Kong Child Chorus. His arrangement music albums "Huo-Jin-Gu" and "Hung-Tien-Ying" for children both won the best record and best singer in "The 10th Golden Melody Award". "Foundation of Teresa Teng" commissioned him as the music director and composer of memorial concert for Teresa Teng who was the most popular pop singer in Chinese world. "Second String Quartet" dedicated to Taiwanese dance maestro Tsai Jui-yueh, performed in her 80th birthday, and most important artists were invited including the President of Taiwan. "The 2001 National Taiwan Athletic Meet" commissioned him as the music director of inauguration. Public Television Service Foundation (PTS) commissioned a series of Documentary films "The Masters in Chinese History". "Eight-Sound" for traditional Hakka ensemble and orchestra will be performed in "The Hakka Cultural Festival 2004" commissioned by Kaohsiung City Symphony Orchestra (KCSO). He invited to compose original film scores for "Ancient Tai-Lu-Ge Road" and "The Vanishing Face" premiered in Montreal First People National Festival in 2004 and 2005. "code: nylon" commissioned by Tsai Jui-yueh Foundation dedicated to Nylon Cheng and choreograph  by Eleo Pomare. "Stone-Lion of San-Shia-Zu-Shi Temple" for orchestra commissioned Li Mei-shu Memorial Gallery will be the program of the world trip in Taiwan 2004 of Budapest Symphony Orchestra (BSO), conducted by Tamas Vasary.

He has both traditional and western music educational background. Chinese flute, studied with Chen Chung-shen at Nan-men secondary school, and he won the 1st Prize of National Competition of Taiwan for Chinese flute at the age of 16. Percussion, studied with Ju Tsung-ching and Lien Ya-wen at National Taiwan University of Arts (NTUA). Composition, studied with Dr. Martin Herman at California State University at Long Beach (CSULB).
