♣ I have been teaching Chinese for the past 5 years. I have taught in a variety of linguistic environments in both Mainland China and Japan . As a private tutor, small group English lesson leader, and classroom instructor, I have experience in a wide range of teaching styles and methods.
♣ I teache all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing, depending on your language needs. If your needs are more conversational, then I will focus more on your listening and speaking ability. This is essential, especially for Westerners, as Chinese has several sounds that don't exist in English, for example. If you wish to brush up on your reading or writing, I will be happy to accommodate you. I am known among teachers and peers as having quite beautiful penmanship (handwriting) in both traditional and simplified Chinese characters.
♣ I grew up in the city of Harbin in the northeastern region of China, got university education in Dalian and embraced Chinese culture in Beijing, now I am living in Tokyo.
♣ Harbin and the area of the northeast are widely known to have the clearest and best accent for learning Mandarin Chinese. Because most regions in China have their own dialect (local language), they inevitably speak Mandarin (the common language) with an accent. As I am original from the northeastern region, my pronunciation and word usage is very clear and precise.
♣ In addition, I would like to share with you some of the culture and traditions China has. Culture is a very important part when learning another language, especially the Chinese language. I have traveled extensively throughout China , experiencing each region and sub-culture to its fullest. Because of this, I am able to share with you my appreciation of the richness and diversity of Chinese culture.
