| OK, so as you may have guessed, I'm a bit of a fan of the ole punk music. Isn't everyone nowadays? Like everyone else, I got into the punk scene after Blink 182 released the single 'All The Small Things'. I don't know how big the Irish band, 'Ash', are over in America and that, but over here in the UK, they're pretty big. I had always liked them, but they didn't seem enough to really convert me to the whole punk scene. I really got into them, so I then loaded up on the Ash and Blink 182 albums. Then went on a mad search for new bands. Napster was a great helping hand for doing this (R.I.P). I came across bands like Fenix Tx, New Found Glory and Sum 41, all before they got big. Then there was other bands like Dogwood, 88 Fingers Louie, Skirtbox, Yellowcard, Rufio, Small Brown Bike, etc... All of which are very good and I'd recommend them to anyone. One of my favourite bands at the moment has to be Vanilla Pod. They're a band from Kings Lynn, a small town not far from Peterborough. I've seen them play live and they didn't play particularly well, but yet they still rocked big time! They have three albums 'Trigger', 'Faster Disco' and 'Third Time Lucky'. I'm not on commision for each sale that they make, but you have to get them! People in the states, if you get this and expose it to your friends, they'd be well impressed by you for finding out about them! Then finally I come to the last of the bands that I'm going to mention in this section of my webpage. They are Dogwood! They're a Christian punk band and they rock so much. I'm only baseing that opinion on the three songs of theirs that I have heard. I have one of their albums on order at the moment, so am looking forward to hearing it when it comes through! Their songs are so meaningful if you listen to the lyrics. Fantastic, all round good eggs! Just cause they're Christians don't mean that they don't know how to do punk! They know how to do punk better than Blink! They're heavy, loud and fast, it's just the lyrics and their beliefs that make them a christian band! Otherwise they'd be alongside bands like Propagandhi! I'm now onto downloading music by real small punk bands from around the world. Stereostar from Spain i.raymond from Lexington The 65 Film Show from Viginia Beach Sweeper from Serbia 11 Minutes Away from Canada Skirtbox from Buckinghamshire, England I'd just like to quickly mention a pet hate of mine! That is all those 12 year olds who wear Slipknot and KoRn hoodies cause they think they're cool! They strutt around in their baggy carpenter jeans, with wallet chains dragging along the floor, swaying their shoulders etc... I'd just like to say 'grow up'! How can you seriously be liking that kind of music when you don't even know what the hell they're on about! The lyrics are about being hated, hating other people, life in general that you haven't even experienced yet because you're too young to have experienced it! Can you tell your Mom's that they should pay closer attention to the parental guidance stickers on the covers and stop you listening to it cause you ruin the whole image and style of the music. You can listen to bands like OPM though cause they suck and people will laugh at you for listening to them!!! |
