Using Tarot Cards
My experience with Tarot Cards is this....
I've just begun to use Tarot Cards, but I find them wonderfully helpful. I choose my deck based on what illustrations appealed to me and what sense I got from them. Then when I go to do a spread I ask a question or suggest a topic for the spread. Maybe I'll decide I'm going to draw four cards, and I'll choose what each of the cards will be about. I might decide the first card will be about the past, the second about the present, etc.  I'll shuffle the deck randomly, until a voice inside says "okay, this card. Take this card." I'll put the card out and without looking at it put it down somewhere in the spread... either in the order I had planned for the spread or just wherever my intuition tells me too.
Tarot cards give me something new to think about. If I draw the card of change, then I'll sit and think about changes in my life and my views on changes. If I draw the card of diplomacy I'll think of where in my life I haven't been diplomatic and where I need to learn to compromise more. I've been surprised with the accuracy of the cards. More often than not when I draw a card I'll think "yes, this is something I need to think about." And sometimes I'll pull out a card and start thinking something that has absolutely nothing to do with the card, but is my intuition trying to tell me something, so I'll go with it anyway.
Writing has always helped me clear my thoughts, so I normally do Tarot readings with a pen and paper in hand, drawing out the spread on the paper and writing down what cards and what interpretation I come up with. This helps not only for clarifying things in my own mind as I do it, but so that afterwards or the next day I can go back and review what I found.
I think one of my fears of using any type of divination tool is that I'd grow to trust it too much. I don't think I should have to believe that anything is one hundred percent accurate. I want to give myself permission to take everything with a healthy dose of skepticism. I have, to a large degree, and am glad that my religion is not one to require blind faith in anything.
