Little Welsh boy's ten point guide to surviving privatised British Rail

  1. Work out a good route that avoids changing trains or traveling with a 'bad' operator
  2. Never try and travel during an industrial dispute or 'Engineering works' (every Sunday you want to travel and none you don't!)
  3. So that you don't pay too much DEMAND the cheapest ticket possible
  4. Start planning your journey early (up to three months in advance, if you can!)
  5. Don't travel on a Friday or near Christmas
  6. Take a warm coat
  7. Pack supplies
  8. Talk to people
  9. Resist the temptation to take 'souvenirs' from the antiquated rolling stock
  10. er... that's it

I like traveling by train almost as much as I do by pedal bike...
