| Aptitude |
| Spent the past
few days practising the TYS MCQs diligently...I should have acquired mastery
over Paper 1 already...haha. Chem was a cinch...breezed thru those qns
without much difficulty. But for Physics, there were lots of calculations
and manipulations to be done. Some qns took me extremely long to solve, and
thus I tried to formulate a systematic method to resolve them should I come
across similar questions in the promos. MCQ marks are meant to be
scored...cannot afford to lose any them due to carelessness. If I'm not
wrong, in physics MCQ each qn carries 2 marks...that's quite a lot! And IIRC,
there should be only 30 MCQ questions (as compared to 40 in chem) which
means every qn matters. As for open-ended qns, I think I shall search for
the notes that Miss Wee prepared before she left (on atomic structure and
chem bonding), it's quite useful. For physics, maybe I'll just look thru
past tutorials and block test paper, at least it's better than nothing. Oh, I haven't touched on Maths yet...hehe. (must constantly tell myself not to be complacent) Look thru tutorials lor...what else? And ya...attempt those promo questions from other JCs... Somehow I dun think doing the TYS questions will help a lot cos the difficulty of the promos will surely surpass that of the A lvls. IMO the purpose of doing TYS is just for motivation and familiarisation...a compliation of different JCs qns will make a better "TYS". Btw I haven't looked thru the lecture notes for all the subjects yet...hehe. Everything is done based on my knowledge by reading reference books (for science) and tutorials (for maths). I will only read thru the notes on the eve of the exam to memorise definitions and stuff. Ok enough of all these crappy plans for the next two weeks (I'm eagerly waiting to resume my Star Ocean), let's start the entry proper. Have you heard of sth like "Attitude, not aptitude, will bring altitude."? (can't remember the exact statement) Nvm...I just want to say that it's rubbish to a certain extent. Who says aptitude cannot bring altitude? Like the Chinese proverb/idiom qin2 neng2 bu3 zhuo2, it's just a mere consolation for stupid ppl. It's true that attitude plays a part in achieving success, however it cannot stand alone. Aptitude helps to boost one's morale and confidence, and thus determines interest in a particular subject, which in turn generates the required attitude to bring altitude. So it just boils down to whether one has the natural ability to excel in a subject as well as the motivation to do well in it. There was a topic in the forum discussing abt why ppl who do well in exams are those who do not study at home. This is obviously not true...and I believe nobody can totally claim that he/she does not practise self-revision outside school hours and yet obtain good grades. I'll worship that person if there's really one... And of course, different ppl has aptitudes for different subjects. This is what I observed abt the link between aptitudes for each subjects: (Note that the converse does not necessary hold, ie. X implies Y doesn't mean Y also implies X...*the first chpt of Analysis....*) Generally ppl with aptitude in
language usually have aptitude in humanities. |

| The reason why I
put up the chinese name is becos there are so many names in English which
mean the same thing. Like Mid Autumn Festival, Mooncake Festival, Lantern
Festival...and I seem to have heard sth like Chang E Festival...-___- Last
time when I was small, I used to look forward to Mooncake Festival (I refuse
to use the shorter "MAF" cos it reminds me of the boredom I experienced
during that event few weeks ago...) as I get to light candles, play around
with fire, with my neighbour at the neighbourhood park which caters to a lot
of flats in the vicinity. We brought boxes of candles, matchsticks,
sparklers, as well as a lantern. Then we would quickly make our way to the
park's playground before the "peak period" (which is around 7pm), occupy a
space and start lighting a row of candles along the boundary of the
playground. After that we would ignite our sparklers and wave them around,
create patterns of lights, poke other ppl...(no lah just kidding!) When
there was no more sparklers left, we would start to set up our lanterns
(paper lanterns...mind you....not those battery-operated lanterns that
produce high-pitched, screechy, out-of-tune music.) and leave our candles
(it's ok since there were fewer ppl already) to take a short stroll around
the park to observe how ppl arrange their candle as well as to see how badly
littered and "burnt" the entire place was. Every inch of the park was not
spared. We can't sit on the benches cos there was wax all over them. We
can't play the slides and swings cos we might get scalded on our backsides
if we attempt to do so. After the stroll, we began to prepare a incinerator
by digging a huge pit in the sand. (during that time playgrounds still
contain sand) Then we would collect a few dry leaves, put them into the pit
and set them alight. This is where the fun starts: we would just dump every
stuff we have into the "incinerator", like unused candles, boxes, used
sparklers, plastic wrappers, plastic bags (we were told not to burn plastic
cos it will give off poisonous gases, so we removed them from the pit)
Yup...we burnt our lanterns too...no point keeping them anyway. (No no
no...we dun burn our clothes...) We wanted to sit back and watch the fire
grow but it was never achieved cos some things just does not burn as readily
as others, and some things cannot be burnt. So we have to like barbecue
those things to make it burn...tough work! After burning as much as we
could, we tried to look around and see if there were anymore candles, left
by other ppl, which were still burning...so we can continue to play around
with them...hehe... When everything in the park had reduced to wax and ashes
(fortunately no one started a fire in the grass), we went home reluctantly.
*For the next few days, nobody dared to play in the park cos it was in a
really terrible state.* But now, Mooncake Festival to me is just like yesterday and tomorrow, nothing special (partly becos it's not a public holiday) except that I get to eat mooncakes during this period. After I shifted house from Jurong to Bukit Panjang, I see no enjoyment in such activity of lighting candles and burning stuff. Firstly, the playground below my flat is not as bustling as the one at my old estate. And the facilities are constantly being damaged, then repaired, then damaged again, then repaired and damaged again. (Must be due those destructive, delinquent, red-black uniformed Zhenghua Secondary School students...hmph!) The town council must be getting fed up already cos currently the entire site is excavated, blocked off, and nothing seems to be done abt it. It's just full of soil and rocks. Sigh... However this does not stop ppl from playing in the site today, cos just now I see quite a few ppl breaking thru the barrier and lighting candles, playing sparklers, like the previous years. (They even threw the sparklers into the pile of stones...haiz...why can't they just spare the playground's graveyard?) I think it is always the same few ppl who are doing this every year...those very enthu and traditional ppl who die die must play with candles and sparklers during Mooncake Festival.... Secondly, (there was a "firstly" btw if you noticed earlier...) my old neighbour isn't here to play with me anymore...and my new neighbour is a Malay............. There is a box of mooncake waiting for me at the dining table...I think I'll go and attack it now. Btw I prefer mooncakes with yolks so it will not be too sweet. One or two is enough...four is just too much... Anyway I'm referring to those traditional mooncakes, not those kind with fillings like red bean, yam, kaya, butter, chocolate, ice-cream, bird nest, etc. Gotta continue my revision soon...wasted a lot of time taking afternoon naps liao. |

| Crazy People |
| Posted this in
the forum: Dunno why I
met a lot of them this year, esp in buses. Ranging from those who talk to
themselves so loudly... shout at strangers for nothing....doing weird
actions...to those who claim that they are mental patients and require
financial assistance from me.... |

| Promo Day 1: GP |
| For essay, did qn 6...the prolong life thingy. I think a
lot of ppl did this question cos it is one of the easiest IMO. The compre
passage is rather simple to read...the qns are so-so and I didn't have time
to complete my AQ...hiaz. Anyway I noticed something very interesting abt
the vocab qns (I'm sure most of you noticed it too)...consider this:
From
Passage A: I won't be surprised if anyone really wrote that cos according to my Oxford dictionary it is correct. I really wonder what the GP teachers were thinking when they set the paper...the meanings of these two words are soooo close lor. First time seeing such qns.... Actually I was very tempted to write "natural" for part b) but I thought the GP teachers won't be so stupid to set questions that yield the same answer, so I wrote "active" instead (which is not very correct I think). If the correct ans is indeed what I typed above (which is unlikely cos in the passage "spontaneous" is followed by another "natural") , I think I'm going to sue the GP department for misleading me. Either the passages has very few chim words or the teachers are just too lazy....cos both words are taken from the 1st paragraph and are merely 1 line apart...-___- No lesson after that, unlike the poor S7s...hehe. |
| 23 September Thursday |
| Gah |
| Played soccer
for PE today, followed by rockclimbing (used my eye-power...). Nobody
reached the top except Mr Tan, who made rockclimbing look so simple.
Expected Say Kai to climb higher...(esp since he has a lvl 1 cert for
rockclimbing) but it seemed that his energy was drained before he could
reach a considerable height. Kaizhi blamed his giant feet for preventing him
from stepping on the "rocks". A good effort by Jialing, who could climb up
to abt 2/3 the height of the entire wall. Quite a remarkable achievement
considering that she's a girl. Then Chem SPA...accidentally spilled H2O2 on Mr Lee's paper...so careless of me... (You shld have seen the look on his face....haha.) Hopefully I dun get marked down for that : P Aiyah...H2O2 only mah...will eventually decompose to form water and oxygen...then it will smell very fresh...hehe. If want to speed up the reaction, then dip the paper into a solution of sodium hydroxide and iron chloride. I'm sure the paper will become very clean after that.... First time reading an inverted burette, and plotting an inverted graph...I strongly suspect that some of the values I read are wrong... But since I can draw a "smooth" curve (more like a forced curve) with my free hand, I guess it doesn't really matter. Didn't pin much hope on Skill B anyway... I'm just not suited for practicals... I hereby declare that our batch is the most "screwed-up" batch of students under the MOE: 2nd batch taking Social Studies (which I heard is going to be abolished soon), 2nd last batch taking O lvls, last batch taking F Maths (if it disappears by 2006), 1st batch taking SPA, 2nd and last batch taking PW (rumour...), first half of JC life experiencing faculty system, and another half in cluster system. It seems that we are in the middle of all the transition and changes of the education system. Ya... I suddenly got the motivation to study F Maths liao...haha. Promos start tmr...GP first...the paper that determines my promotion and eligibility to take S-papers. Yet I'm not a bit concerned...dunno why. Good luck to all for GP tmr! |
| 22 September Wednesday |
| Bye Bye Faculty |
| From next year
onwards, faculties will be abolished and all classes will be arranged in
clusters. With a mix of S3 and S6 classes in Clusters A and B, Arts and S7
in Clusters C and D. I would prefer to be in the same cluster as S7 as most
of my friends from other classes are there... Also, S32 is grouped into
Cluster A while I'm in B....sigh....separation again... The sch may
reallocate the CT benches according to clusters and it is highly unlikely
that S32 and my class will be in the same wing cos that arrangement means
all S3s and S6s will be in one wing while all Arts and S7 in another wing.
Hopefully my class can still occupy the left wing cos I like the environment
there...hehe. As for assembly positions, I won't be affected for the first
half of next year until I step down from band. Actually I think that
arranging classes from different faculties into clusters might not be as
effective as thought. Ya, it is useful during cheering sessions and sports
events, but how the classes from different faculties interact? The S3s will
still be having FM lectures together, while S7s will have all their lectures
together in the audi, S6s having their Econs, etc....how to interact?? Hence
the only time for interaction is CT session...but that period is often used
as mass gathering in audi or personal time with Civic Tutors. "Cluster" is
just a name on surface, and classes from different facs will treat each
other like strangers. Ppl will still recognise themselves as being in the
same fac rather than a cluster. Actually this doesn't matter to the school
since the problem only exists in my batch. Next year's new batch might not
be very affected by this cluster system. S33 and S34 will be clustered with odd classes of S6 (S61, 63, 65....). And the worst thing is I dun even know anyone from these classes!!! In the whole of S6 I can only recognise quite a few faces from S60 and S62 (I think they are very prominent....) but both are even classes...-___- Zhe Han is in S66 right? Haiz... is it a coincidence or what? I looked at the band member list and realised that there are only 3 ppl in the band who is in odd classes of S6. In addition to Eugene in S33 and me, it adds up to 5 band members in Cluster B. Compared to whole S3 fac where there are 4 band members, there isn't much difference... From what I observed, the cluster with most band members would be Cluster D (odd classes of S7) consisting of most ppl from S73 (2), S75 (5), S77 (2) and S79 (2). Btw there are no Arts ppl in the band...majority of band members are S7s. Ok...enough of my analysis...I better go and study liao... |

| Work harder! |
| After doing the
practice qns that Mr Yap gave, I realised that I dun really know a lot of
things about sequence and series...esp the summation formula for e^x. I
think I cannot be complacent liao...need to work harder...practise more qns....starting
from today. Unfortunately other than TYS, it seems that there isn't any
assessment books for F Maths leh. Maybe becos it is a minority subject...
Haiz...how to practise?
GP...haha...last lesson...so happy!! ^_^ Chem lecture was on a new topic - Arenes - lectured by Holy. I think ppl have become bolder towards her liao...make so much noise... Holy tried to control the noise level, but of no avail. Then she gave up and said those who want to listen can listen. Sigh... Right after that was chem tutorial...conducted in the audi!...haha. Sat on a VIP seat...quite comfortable but the table very small leh...I wonder how those ppl sitting there usually do their work... No PE cos there was no teachers in the PE staff room...the teachers even slackier than us... A chem qn to ponder (for those who are interested): Elements of the same group exhibit similar properties. Then why does SiO2 form macromolecules while CO2 form simple covalent molecules? |
| 20 September Monday |
| Meh |
| Extremely sian day, nothing of much worth to talk about....except that Dawes was so evil today...made us stay back to do AQ knowing that it was our last lesson for the day. Nvm lah...second last GP lesson with him before promos...let him do what he wants. After promos we can just rebel against him and pon his lesson altogether. Or maybe Mrs Soo will be back by that time, then we can complain about him. Got back 2 chem tests...26/30 for structured and 14/16 for MCQ (where the last qn is bonus). If not for my stupid shading mistake, I would have got 15/16 liao...sigh. I realised that my thermodynamics really sucks...can't even comprehend a simple pressure-volume question. Haiz...everyone is mugging for promos now and yet my group is still trying to get PW done before promos starts on Friday. And ya, for the nth time, PW sucks too. Sry for the short entry today...look out for tmr's one k? |
| 18 September Saturday |
| MAF |
| Started to feel
the boredom as soon as I stepped into the school. Walking alone in such an
occasion is even more boring than I thought. Met Jialing and Thazin, who
were busy with their stalls. Met Mr Lee, who was busy with administration.
Met Wenjia and Jinhin, who were busy with PA. Met Bingye and Wu Rong, who
went home cos it was boring. Met Jeff, who went with me to watch the
programme before he left with his class on a lantern stroll. Met Chen Xi and
Youcheng, who went to dance after taking photos. Met many many more ppl who
were with their own friends. The theme of this year's MAF is
圆 yuan2 (Gather). As for me, the theme of my
experience in this MAF is 缘 yuan2 (Encounter). I
had met so many ppl but yet none could stay with me (or I stay with them)
for long...until I finally met Zhe Han.... Walked around with ZH for a while before we settled at the space near the rock-climbing tower to chat. Chatted abt A lvl subjects and its value. Walked around a little more before ZH went to pack up his stall and I went home. Thanks a lot to ZH for making me feel less bored. I shld have met him earlier so ppl won't get to see my pitiful state...haiz. The only thing I can comment abt the programme is "The lightings were great!" Yup, that's all. Dun bother to ask me whether I enjoyed MAF or how I think abt MAF. |

| Mediacorp and SPH merge?! |
| Yeah...I was
shocked too when I heard this news from my parents just now. The day has
finally come! The good old days of one-media dominance are back again! This
may spell an end to the endless local soap operas which have been flooding
the drama industry in Singapore ever since the 2nd media company sprang up
in 2001. This might also mean that there will be more creative variety
programmes and diverse drama serials like the classic Mi Li Ye-type shows,
period dramas as well as local made swordplay serials like Shen Diao Xia Lu.
No more crappy programmes that merely aims to boost ratings! Ya...most
importantly, no more media-press conflicts and ratings rivalry! However the
merger may not be as perfect as I think, I foresee many problems to arise
soon.... Actually I'm rather excited abt this news as I've been supporting the idea of merger ever since MM Lee raised the matter some months ago. I grew up with the TV and watched it transform from SBC, to TCS, then to the current Mediacorp, which received quite a few criticisms regarding the way they manage their programmes as compared to Mediaworks. The most flourishing TV-age is during the TCS era where the best programmes were produced and I really enjoyed watching those shows at that time. But ever since the rise of Mediacorp, quality of TV shows started to deteriorate as a desperate attempt to cut costs, keep ratings by producing cheaply-made shows. I really wish that this merger can bring the TV industry back to the TCS period... Nothing much happened today except the perpetually boring GP lessons (glad that Dawes is aware that he is boring us to death...) and the time wasted in staying back and waiting for a cancelled chem o session. Stupid lah....dun have training but we weren't informed lor! The teachers dun even bother to make an announcement or sth...make us wait so long in the AVA room in suspense, wondering if the lecturer has met with a car accident and passed away or sth. |

| Bishan Welcomes You! |
| Feeling stressed
by work? Think you are unable to cope with the current workload which has
already deprived yourself of much happiness? Expecting your dull and
meaningless life to simply revolve around the cycle of work and sleep?
Hoping that something could free you from the suffocating shackles and put
an end to your misery? Do not fear, Bishan is here. The ideal place where only peace can achieved amongst the hectic lifestyle of Singapore. Take a jump from the platform located in Bishan MRT and all your worries shall vanish into thin air. The MRT system, opened in 1987, has only realised its hidden potential recently, all thanks to someone who took the plunge and started the ball rolling. Now, Bishan MRT is the chosen station, whose purpose is to relieve stress of all Singaporeans. The unique location of the station - half above ground and half underground - has made its role possible. Though some would prefer other stations which are closer to their school or office, it's ok, as long as the station isn't built underground. The steps are easy! Sit down and wait until the display screen alerts you of an incoming train. You may want to bring along a pen and paper to note down your final wishes to your family and friends, or whine about people who had once offended you, making sure that you will drop in on them as soon as the ritual ends. Before the train reaches the station, hop onto the tracks and position yourself in such a way that pain will be kept to the minimum. Once the pain stops, you will find yourself floating over the horizon, watching the crowd of onlookers who have gathered at the area where you jumped, transfixed in terror over the grisly mess that you've left behind. In addition, you have the privilege of getting a once-of-a-lifetime opportunity to meet with the renowned Mr Yan Luo Wang! So what are you waiting for? Come to Bishan MRT station and you won't be disappointed! See you in the news! |

| To go or not... |
| Looking forward
to this sat's MAF celebrations. However I also realised that I've nobody to
go with... Most of my friends are involved either in council, CCA stalls or
PA. Dun really feel comfortable sticking with the PRCs (they have their own
hostel friends too...) and certain ppl are out of the question. When I say
"go with", I mean somebody who can accompany me, talk with me, throughout
the event. Not those who will be busy with their own commitments on that day
(dun want to be a burden) nor those who plan to hang out with their own
friends that I don't know (dun want to be a leech). Now the problem is
nobody in my class can satisfy all these conditions. This brings me to something else... why am I so free as compared to others? Why am I involved in so little things? The good thing is I can slack a lot. But the bad thing is I will not get much company during school events like MAF. Everyone is so excited in doing their duties for this event...but I can only feel lonely walking around the school alone, looking at things that will only interest me provided I'm with someone else. What is the fun of going for such events but cannot share the excitement with your friends? I dun really want a repeat of what happened during Homecoming Carnival. I became the wandering ghost, drifting from one place to another seeking solo enjoyment, but ended up disturbing ppl who are busy tending to their own stalls... Another example is National Day Celebrations where I sat alone in the hall, watching the interesting programme but was unable to share my feelings with anyone. Have you ever watched a movie or a concert all by yourself? Do you why giveaway tickets (won from lucky draws, competitions, quiz, etc...) usually come in pairs? Sigh...I'll continue to ask some more ppl and if I really can't find anyone to accompany me, it will depend on my mood on sat.... Chem test today was quite ok. It has the weirdest set of qns I've ever seen...asking for name of scientist, name of lab attendant and there were so many typo errors in the paper. Holy haven't return us the previous test yet, which is so many weeks ago already lor...haiz. Did abseiling for PE today...quite fun lah, but I find it very difficult to control the legs and keep my body in L-shape since I'm hanging in mid air. Much easier than rock climbing hehe...gravity does all the work... |
| 15 September Wednesday |
| Short Day |
| Wow...today's a
short day for me cos CCA suspended...hehe. Was very busy for the past few
days doing PW....argh..... The worst thing is there are so many sleeping
members in my group...pffft. I really sympathize with Jieying lor...she has
to juggle her council work, academics and responsibility as a PW leader at
the same time. Because of PW, she stayed up for the whole night finishing
the report till morning. Unfortunately, there are just too much work that
the group has yet to complete....sigh. And to the sleeping members of the
grp: Wake up now and take the initiative to contribute to the project!!!
Being poor in English doesn't mean you need not write a single thing at all.
Dun sit down doing nothing and expect to receive credit for other ppl's hard
work. New topic for today: Differential Equations. (reminds me of the chem o kinetics...) Hope it would be easy... CT session was pure boredom! A speaker from the Ministry was invited to give a talk on governance (SS...). Never heard of her before...seems that she aren't so great after all. From her first sentence I knew that the talk is not going to be any interesting. Listening to her monotonous voice made me fall asleep lor. I think the teachers were also very bored as they started to become restless, walking around to patrol or chatting with students. After the talk...got scolded....as expected...that teacher was actually watching the students from the PA room and he spotted many misbehaviours. Luckily my class is sitting far back at the audi, cannot be seen from the PA room...hehe. |
| 13 September Monday |
| Term 4 First Day |
| Oh...just
realised I didn't have an entry for Sept 11...me got sth to comment abt the
911 attacks...hehe. But nvm lah...since that day is over I shan't talk abt
it anymore. Anyway my comments aren't going to be very pleasant, so I think
it is not wise to discuss such sensitive issue in order to prevent ppl from
having the urge to slap me or sth. Of course I know they won't lah...but it
is definitely going to anger somebody. Was almost late for sch today...and the bench area was super crowded too!...With all those excited J2s who were preparing for their prelims. Good luck to them! The lectures today were rather slack (for me)...teaching things that I have known already. Then Mdm Yeo was absent cos she sprained her leg...and some acted as if they were so concerned liddat. What a hypocrite! Some ppl wanted to pon GP last period...fortunately watching the video tape abt abortion made the lesson slightly more tolerable (but still very boring). I expected the video to be enjoyable that I could pay attention to and watch but it was an utter disappointment. Firstly the video was soooooo old and dated (produced in 1987...my year of birth...hoho...). Observed that many wore those large square-ish specs which made them look very ugly, esp for girls. I used to wore those type of specs also lah....abt 10 years ago...must admit that I really look very nerd and geeky...hehe. Secondly, the video went a bit off topic...talking abt sex education and stuff... After that there was another show about a woman who tok tok tok tok in front of the camera and trying to act cool at the same time...-__- It is abt euthanasia I think... Pls lah! If she wants to talk abt this topic, dress up so pretty for what?? Trying to attract all those Chee Goh Pek to believe in her pitiful story issit... what the hell is the programmers thinking when they made this show?? I think the entire thing might just be a fake. It's just some kind of mei3 ren2 ji4 lah. Met an old band section mate in the bus today...chatted a lot with him...seems that he's having great fun in his present class now... I've come up with a conclusion: Band is so SIANZZZZ!!! |
| 10 September Friday |
| Playing |
| Must continue to
update or else ppl will forget to visit my web....anyway I'm very busy
playing my PS2 now (in a very serious holiday mood), neglecting all my sch
work. Tutorials are not a problem cos I've done most of them during the
first few days. The only worry is PW, which I think is not worth spending my
precious holidays on...we've lots of time after promos anyway. Actually I've
a dilemma abt my game....whether to continue playing after the hols or stop
till after promos.
Ok, some ppl think that I'm getting very niao already. But dun worry lah...in real person I'm still the same, the niao thing only applies when I'm in the net. Learnt all those niao languages from a message board which I frequent daily (those who know me well shld know which msg board...). Ppl there like to niao a lot so er ru mu ran I also picked up a few techniques lor. It really challenges your language skills cos it takes good vocabulary and logical thinking to put up a good niao. (Vocabulary is for the use of the most appropriate words to describe scenarios or exaggerate facts while logical thinking is to prevent the NO LINK factor) Judging from my English standard, I doubt it would be possible for me to achieve such high proficiency in niaoing like those ppl in the boards. Nvm lah...actually Singlish can also be used to niao but not as effective due to the limited vocabulary which can cause overusage of certain terms. It doesn't work well on those pro-English ppl, and is often not appreciated in debates and arguments cos it is usually seen as a crude (or even barbaric) language used in dire situations when one can no longer provide good supporting statements. I find difficult to niao with Chinese...maybe becos the language is made to be more straightforward than English? The most common one I heard is "ru guo ni bu kai kou mei ren hui shuo ni shi ya ba" (If you dun open your mouth nobody will say you a mute). I find this statement rather disturbing cos it doesn't seem to be directed at talkative ppl, but more targeted at mutes instead...haha. Enough of the discussion abt niao...I'd better go and play SO3 as much as possible before the term starts... |
| 7 September Tuesday |
| I hate Physical Chem! |
| I have enough of those equations
liao! Firstly, Kinetics... the "rate = k[A]" we've learnt was actually a
differential rate eqn...there is also an integrated rate eqn too, which is
obtained by integrating the differential eqn! Siao... Very difficult to
integrate...esp for 2 or more different molecules order 2 and above. That
means I've to memorise all those crazy equations, or even derive them
myself! Secondly, Particles and Waves (quantum physics)....this topic
is really hell lor...I dun understand most of the stuff...never knew that
electrons have wave functions...dun understand how the eigen equation HΨ =
EΨ works....haizz... *cries*
I want to comment on some things I saw in the bus today. A Chinese High boy was sitting on the outer seat when a couple got off the bus, leaving an empty two-seater. Just as another student, who was initially standing up, was walking to the seat, the Chinese High guy immediately switched places and occupied that two-seater. That student had no choice but to take up the seat that the tchs guy once occupied. The worse thing is, the tchs guy placed his butt on the inner seat and used the outer seat to support (and show off) his "sexy" leg. Wah...trying to act beng issit? Or issit becos his piece of leg is just a boneless flesh and needs a soft surface to support it? Or perhaps he is trying to display his beautiful leg so that everyone can ogle at it? Fortunately that didn't last long as someone else requested for the outer seat, so that guy has no choice to draw his leg back... I think that person shld just sit on his leg instead. On the same bus, a few stops after the leg-incident, a guy got up the bus and immediately found himself a place to seat, without tapping his ezlink on the reader! Wow...this is wonderful...another dua pai person who thinks his grandfather owns the bus or sth. Still dare to walk in such a feng1 guang1 manner somemore... I tot tapping the card shld be already a habit for most ppl liao...esp after years of implementing this ezlink system. And (almost) everyone knows that bus fares have to be paid upon boarding. That means......tsk tsk...so poor thing...must be the first time taking a bus in his life... Maybe I shld forgive him after all, since he has been living under a rock for his whole life and didn't know that there is such thing as paying the fare in public buses. Ya...we shld also teach him to press the bell when he wants to alight, if not he'll just jump off the window, or smash thru the emergency exit. And of course lah...the bus driver is not stupid...he told that guy to pay before he continued driving. Oh...I can form a combo with these two incidents. Imagine this scenario... I walk into the bus without paying and immediately sit on an empty 2-seater, placing my leg on the outer seat...and shake it (to enhance the effect mah!). See, that's would be so cool dun you think so? |

| I hate Thermodynamics! |
| What a killer
topic...50 over equations...and they are not as simple as "U = Q + W"
only...soooo many derivations! The person who came up with all these
theories must be really crazy. And who was the one in the physics lect notes
that said "Thermodynamic is easy, I did it many times."...he/she really
deserve a slap. That person must have merely attended only the first intro
lecture on Thermo and obviously haven't studied that topic in University.
He/She must be attempting the same example questions over and over again....
-__-" Dunno anything still talk so much... Maybe I shld also say
"Relativity is easy...I read the Sec 3 Chinese textbook many times." Then
ppl will worship me...haha. What a tormenting chem o training today! The first topic on thermo practically killed my day...the next topic on MO was quite interesting...it is like another theory like VSEPR...then periodicity of transition elements...also interesting. Somehow I like periodicity...haha. Ok, that's for the morning...after that I went to buy Star Ocean 3 (Till the end of time). Wah...the game has 2 disc somemore...it will really really take a long time to finish playing...can last me up till beginning of year-end holidays. Another good news is, I've just finished most of the available tutorials left to complete! Finished Analysis A22 (Mean and Centroid), A23 (Maclaurin...it was really easy...read the lecture examples then can do liao) as well as Roots of Unity tutorial (I find it rather difficult) and Alkanes, DC circuits (nuff said). This is the result of pia-ing non-stop for the past 3 days just after the holidays began. I think it is a rather remarkable feat and I'm very proud of myself...for having such a motivation to do so...heheee. Actually there are also a lot of things that I haven't complete...like Intro to Organic (Nah...not going to do), Fluids (lect haven't finish yet), GP publications (I will either use the papers as clean my backside or file it into the almost-going-to-burst GP file and leave it to rot...I never read them anyway), and last but not least...PW (no comments...). Going to play SO3 liao...see ya! Buye Buye! |

| L.A.T.E. for last day of term |
|
Ok so this is what happened: I did my last minute work for PW in the morning and ended up setting out for sch late. Worse, my mum and I realised that there was a massive jam in BKE towards PIE (which is exactly where we were heading for) just as we passed the last traffic junction leading to the expressway. There is no chance to U-turn anymore as the road only leads to the congested expressway. However there was another way out...that is to travel in the north direction towards Woodlands. (as you know expressways always have two directions) We took that way and exited at Mandai. (ya...that's even even further from the sch) Then travelled down Woodlands Rd to reach Bukit Panjang again, from where we started from. But....it's the WORST choice ever made...cos the bottom stretch of Woodlands Rd as well as the entire Upper Bukit Timah Rd were terribly congested, up until KAP. (due to the large no. of cars exiting into Upp Bt Timah Rd from BKE) Sadly, I was stuck in the jam for more than 45 min...and when I finally reached sch, it was 8.30 and the first period was already ending. (Luckily I'm not caught cos J2s had study leave for prelims and they were allowed to return to sch at any time...hehe) First 2 periods was GP and I dun want to see Mr Dawes anymore, so I decided to stay at the class bench until the 3rd period. You can say me "pon lesson...bad boy...tsk tsk" or anything...I dun care...I also dun think it's my fault. Firstly, it's the stupid PW subject that dunnowho came up with. Secondly, the irresponsible driver that created the accident in BKE. Thirdly, our wonderful GP teacher who has the speciality in boring students. Everything went on quite smoothly after that...except that the PW files that I saved on the disk cannot be opened...all my efforts spent in the morning wasted... Surprisingly Mdm Yeo didn't even know I was absent during assembly (or extremely late). She won't suspect me anyway...cos me so guai...hehe. Btw I got 43/50 for Section A Maths Test...more than expected...see...she so lenient, so fortunate so let her mark our promo papers.... Anyway there was early dismissal from Mr Lee today. But cannot go home...stil have to stay back...haiz. Learnt hybridisation (still very blur abt it), inductive effect and mesomeric effect of organic ions...quite interesting though. Then on the way home in the bus, I was once again pissed off by an inconsiderate passenger. The person kept making puking sounds like "Orrryyyhh....Yuurekkhh", giving that kind of "I-AM-GOING-TO-VOMIT-ANYTIME-TAKE-COVER!-AVALANCHE!" signal... That's so sick, disgusting, gross and super super disturbing. I could see that the woman sitting in front of that person was extremely annoyed by the noise. That disgusting person was none other than...A Filthy Old Woman! ...Hello? That's a bus, not your mobile lavatory...It's 2004 and not the olden times where ppl just spit/vomit/puke anywhere on the streets and no one gives a damn. I know you once enjoyed vomiting at public places during your younger days when "hygiene" was still non-existent in the vocabulary. Thank you very much for creating such a nostalgic scene for the older generations in the bus. And pls, Singapore is not like India where passengers just anyhow shit and urine in public transport for convenience. If you want to vomit then you can kindly hold it till you reach Chinatown/Kampong Glam/Kampong Chulia or whatever and the night soil can cater to your puking desire. Or you may consider bringing a chamber pot with you next time or even better, do it on your grandchildren's face and see if they'll happily accept the "gift" that you bestowed to them. Phew...feeling much better now... it indeed feels great after chiding someone! |

| Me Autistic? |
| I think my
sports really suck. For today's PE I went to play Basketball with some guys
in the class and I was more like a hindrance, an obstacle, to the other
players. I didn't know where to move and who to steal the ball from. Luckily
the other ppl were clever enough not to pass the ball to me at all, if not
I'll just screw up the play. Then I went to practise my shooting...Horrible.
Nvm...I shan't talk abt it anymore.... I would prefer to play racket-type
games actually, after watching Mr and Mrs Susilo getting so close to an
Olympics medal...haha, no lah...it's mainly becos I dun like to play in a
team...hehe.
I would like to clarify something: I'M NOT AUTISTIC! After so many years of schooling, communication with classmates and friends, I was asked by Kaizhi today if I'm autistic... Plsssss lah...I attended Nursery and Kindergarten before and didn't cry for the whole day ok? I can talk to friends and socialise with them and besides I dun carry my bolster around. What makes you think I'm autistic? Just becos I'm quiet? Oh there are soooo many ppl around as quiet as me, are you suspecting all of them to be suffering from autism? I see someone coughing badly, I think he has tuberculosis...I also see someone with red rashes...he must be suffering from HIV. Yeah...very funny. Realised that there are more ppl reading my blog than I thought...thanks a lot to those who read but seldom/never leave any comments...as for those who always comment, double the gratitude! Anyway have you heard abt the most popular blog by a Singaporean which attracted abt 20000 (forgot the figure liao) viewers daily? It is the blog of a girl named Wendy Cheng and she was interviewed by Straits Times not long ago (It was published in the Sunday Times) and her blog address has been "publicised" in the newspaper a few times. I've visited her blog before and it was quite interesting lah...esp when she thinks she's very pretty and likes to bash/criticise ugly behaviours of ppl that she encountered in her life. However her style of writing may easily offend ppl, and that's what makes her blog so popular. Most ppl like to read criticisms and complaints right? Anyway for those who usually go online and do nothing but reading other ppl's blogs, here's the address: http://xiaxue.blogspot.com/ Enjoy! To make my blog more interesting to read, maybe I shld try to criticise more abt the things that I come across which made me very bu shuang. Anyway I've already done a bit of that in the recent entries if anyone notices... Dun be surprised if you see any harsh words appearing in my web. If you cannot take it, perhaps you may consider jumping onto the MRT tracks and wait for an incoming train. It's the trend nowadays wat! What's more, the whole country will know who you are and you won't die in loneliness. Ppl are seeking new ways to die now...and on seeing that jumping off a building is outdated and overused, they have begun to make use of the MRT as a suicide tool...well done! |
