| Shuk In's house 2 |
|
It was Shuk In's birthday party...didn't prepare any presents, so I just bought a pack of M&M...very insincere right? Majority of the PRCs went (even Dawei) and S'geans just Mong Seng, Youcheng, me and Rose (who left halfway). This is the maximum number of Sgeans I shld expect anyway (plus Jieying, who couldn't make it becos of her mum's birthday). Maybe I shld also stop splitting the class into PRCs and Sgeans, and see them as a whole. That will make my life better whenever I attend class outings. Ok ok...from now on I shall stop ranting abt the number of PRC and Sgeans in class outings. Ppl have their own reason not to go, and if they are unenthusiastic and unwilling, we can't force them also. The food was nice...esp the very oily-type chicken (dunno how to call that) and the pizza (the crust was a bit too hard). Both were home-made. If only my mum knows how to cook all these...then I'll become a fatty liao! Some proceeded to play mahjong while others watched a movie called "Mean Girls" I think. Too bad there was only one table, so I have no choice but to watch movie lor. The movie is quite nice lah...now I know how evil, scheming, cunning can girls be...I better be wary of them next time...>_> After that I went to play cards, Jing Zhan and I taught Han Xiao and Chen Xi to play floating and contract bridge. Wah...so surprised that both of them picked up the rules so quickly. For me I'll just become blur blur cannot catch anything lor. So long didn't play contract bridge liao...forgot all the strategies already... Played Heart Attack also...so excting! Esp with so many ppl (8 ppl I think). Went to West Mall for dinner before going home... |

| Last day of school |
| Today marks the
end of our J1 life...it's also time for me to reflect on things that have
happened for the past 1 year (10 months to be exact). I remember the first
day of school when we reported to the hall and met up with our sec sch
friends, then proceeded to the audi and sat there for the rest of the day...
I'll talk abt this in greater detail next time.
Watched the 30th anniversary video...does anyone notice that I appeared in one of the scenes? (abt 1 sec only) I assume not cos nobody seems to be aware of it. I think ppl already cannot recognise me with specs liao...haha. And ya...from next year onwards, there will be COMBINED morning assembly, HCJC and TCHS, every monday. This means abt 3200+ ppl squeezing into the terraces for flag raising. That would be soooo chaotic! Very very noisy also! Most likely the hc band won't be asked to play together with the tchs band... I pity the tchs band leh...have to withstand the stress of being observed by twice the current number of ppl. I look forward to their blunders (very evil of me right?) such as dropping of bass drum mallets, drumstick flying away, wind instruments playing at the wrong time, dropping of instruments, ppl fainting at the spot, and everything that you can possibly think of! I expect a great spectacle then.... Then it was special CT session in the classroom. Boring... Anyway our maths tutors next year will be Mr Tan Yew Meng and Mrs Jasmine Yap, and chem would be Miss Esther Tan. Wah...all of them are so ideal...I feel so blessed being taught by them...haha. Phy tutor still dunno yet...*hopefully can change...* The biggest mystery of all is: Who is going to be our CT???? Sigh...PW OP on the last day...have to wait so long before everything is over... Anyway Happy Holidays! |
| 28 October Thursday |
| K Box |
| Didn't update yesterday cos there is really nothing much to
write abt. An extremely boring day...a super long 4-hour break between my
last PW lesson and CCA. Aiyoh...stupid timetable! Used the time to do chem
spa skill A and sleep lor. After sleeping, my eyes were both red...haha...you
all know why right?
Why is it always NG SHENG RONG ?!!?!? He got the top score for phy, chem and from what I heard bio also... Wah lau...is he a manifestation of some god?? I think he's the idol for the entire cohort, with the exception of Arts classes. Anyway that's as far as he goes (which is very very far liao...). I'm sure he cannot top in Maths one. Anyway who's that mysterious person who got 100 marks for maths paper ah? Or issit just some stupid ppl spreading this rumour? I'm 99.9% sure that Ng Sheng Rong cannot score full marks in Maths... (quick ppl! Tell me who's the one who scored 100 if you know it!) I wonder what he got for GP...if he gets an A1, I think he shld just shoot himself and prevent ppl from being so depressed seeing his results. An ultra-long break after that, from 9.20am to 3.20pm. So some suggested to go K Box and I agreed...anyway I dun want to go home, neither stay in sch and become a statue. Finally, only 7 ppl went, majority the PRCs. This make me recall what Zhiqiang said in the beginning of the year...the PRCs are more enthu than we tot. It is the Singaporeans who are not cooperating. I admit that I was very un-enthu in the past, refusing to turn up for any class outings and such. But now at least I try to make an effort to go for the outings. I can list out some outings so far and this can serve as a check to the enthusiasm of every ppl in the class: -JTS in Changi Airport Shuk In's birthday party and the second fac chalet are coming soon...well? Anyway Yong Feng, I think your class outings are much more than that right...haha. Err...where was I? Ah ya...K Box. We went to cineleisure, only to find that the K Box not opened yet, so we went to Paradiz Centre, a mall near Dhoby Ghaut station. First time K-ing...dun have much confidence in my voice. I tot I would just sit there and listen ppl sing, or sing along without the mike, or play cards (but cannot lah...cos nobody except me knows how to play bridge). For the first few songs, I just listened and watched the MTVs. Then I started to open up my voice, by attempting to sing the songs I'm most familiar with. Soon I began to get the hang of K-ing, and chose songs that I've heard before (doesn't matter if I know how to sing or not...can sight-read anyway). Mong Seng kept chosing Jay Chou's songs...dun like them leh...so many rapping, so many words squeezed into one phrase. I think somebody shld put a word limit on his songs...haha. Chen Xi chose some English songs...nah I dun listen to them. Some of their MTVs look so stupid...a woman posing for the entire song... Bosen chose a lot of Ren Xian Qi's and Xin Yue Tuan's songs...nice meh? Xin Yue Tuan is just a blastissimo band...remember to prepare earmuffs, and turn the volunme down. There was one song where Bosen and Chen Xi just shouted into the mike like mad...it goes sth like this: AMANI NAKUPENDA TUNA WE WE. Doesn't make any sense to me leh. What language is that? I have a preference to woman's songs lah...mainly becos they are easier to sing, less words in one phrase...the only problem is the high pitch, but it can be easily overcome by singing an octave lower. (as long as tune is there then can liao...) Chose some old songs also, like Xu Mei Jing's Tie Chuang and Lin Yi Lian's Ai Shang Yi Ge Bu Hui Jia De Ren. Very old right?? Actually I'm looking for one old song...but dunno who sang it. It is the theme song for the Channel 8 Telemovie (Xin1 Shi4 Dian4 Ying3) Ghost Taxi (Gui3 De2 Shi4) starring Ix Shen. I can hum the tune. If anyone knows this song and its singer, pls tell me ok? Had a very great fun in K Box! Feel like going there again leh...hopefully lesser ppl better, then no need to snatch the mike... Then we headed back to school for a s-paper briefing. Basically it's just some forms we have to fill up. Oh ya, I'm eligible for Maths, Chemistry, and Physics S Papers...but since I got C5 for GP, I can only chose two...three is just mad lor. Most of the ppl in the class chose maths and physics, cos they go quite well together. I also heard chem s is harder... Then me extra choose chem instead... If I were to take phy, sure will fail horribly one...and I'm more interested in chem lah...I shld stick with my interest right? Hopefully somebody else in my class will choose chem (preferably one that I can relate well to) then I won't feel so lonely liao. A lot of ppl appeal to take s paper lor...I wonder what is the maximum intake... |
| 26 October Tuesday |
| GP |
| Had GP lesson
with the special class students...I think their teacher is better than Dawes
and Soo lor. Surprisingly I kept awake for the entire lesson, listening
attentively to her going thru each and every essay qn! Although she is
elderly, I think the way she conducts the lesson keeps ppl like me awake
(not necessarily true for everyone...). Maybe I shld join special class next
year...haha. Anyway I also got back my GP compre paper...1 more mark added.
Now it adds up to 60/100 for my GP promo...which is a B4! Wah!!! So proud of
myself!
Holidays are coming but why do I still feel that I have so much work to do? Argh...PW must be the culprit! *Draws a stickman representing PW* Da Xiao Ren!!! |
| 25 October Monday |
| PW OP |
| Finally one
down! Handed in the final written report already...yay! Bye Bye WR...you
suck! Now it's to Oral Presentation, which I think there won't be much of a
problem if I know my project well. Had a trial presentation today...very
unprepared, esp the ppt slides, luan qi ba zao. Jieying spoke too fast; Chen
Kan and Ying Ying didn't perform very well (the reason to this shld be kinda
obvious...if you have been reading my past entries). As for me...erm...the
general comment was that I lack enthusiasm, monotonous, no smile,
etc...which in turn affects my confidence. Actually I'm quite confident of
my speech lah, just that I can't force myself to be enthusiastic abt the
sucky PW. Aiyoh pls, how to expect me to smile at sth that is only capable
of stressing me out? I rather smile at my poo poo....at least my poo
relieves me. (anyway this colour scheme reminds you of sai right?) As for my
monotonous speech, I'm sorry but that's how I speak when it comes to serious
stuff. Feel free to sleep whenever you want.... The best
presenter for my group goes to Bosen!!! He knows exactly what to say at the
tip of his...tongue? Very fluent and confident, and can easily stimulate
interest in the audience. Although some of the things he said are crap, but
his good delivering of speech makes the audience close one eye.
Tot of playing Spades in yahoo, but I think I play finish Star Ocean first then say. After all Star Ocean is the my priority for now. After that still have to play Tales of Symphonia in Gamecube. Heard that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is coming out soon...I'll be getting that also. You see? I got sooo many games to play! I think I'm busier than most of u lor! |
| 22 October Friday |
| Open House |
| I tot a lot of
ppl will pon today but I guess I'm wrong. Went to practise in the music room
after flag rasing, then made use of the short break to play cards in the
band room...hehe. The first performance was quite good lah...much better
than the last rehearsal...but as it was still early, there weren't many ppl
watching. That was followed by a 2-hour break where I played cards again!!!
Haha...addicited liao! Soon it was time for the second performance...but it
started to rain very heavily that the floor was almost flooded. The "stage"
was moved in the inner plaza instead, where there were more ppl watching but
it was very noisy due to the rain. So the band blasted thru the whole piece
lor...hopefully it still sound balanced.
Finally everything ended (faster than I tot). As I spent most of time playing cards, didn't really notice what is going on in the plaza and the left and right wing. I also dun care lah...anyway the booths and performances are for secondary school students. Met Yong Feng after that, and received my birthday present!! Thanks a lot! ^_^ A cute bear bear! He was getting bored so I brought him to the 3rd floor bench and teach how to play drawbridge. Shortly after, Zhiwei arrived. We were about to play dummy bridge when Mr Lee appeared out of nowhere and ruined everything. We gambling? Pls...as if we dunno the consequences of gambling in sch liddat. We are intelligent people who play intellectual card games, and wun degrade ourselves to low-class gambling. Luckily he let us off (he shld, anyway...), and we realised that the area was too open; anyone could just pass by there. So we decided to switch to a more enclosed place so that we can play in peace. Soon after, Xueping, a percussionist, joined us in a game of spades. That was my first proper Spades game and I think I'm getting the hang of it liao. It's easier to pick up than contract bridge and also requires much thinking and strategy. Playing with Xueping is fun, she's so emotional when playing...haha. Although both of us lost (by a narrow gap...haiz...), ie Zhiwei and Yong Feng won, I still enjoy the game very much. I think it also depends on some luck lah. Looking forward to the next Spades game! Tmr got band, sianz...hopefully it is the last saturday prac liao... There is supposed to be a PW meeting tmr...time to pon band... |
| 21 October Thursday |
| Slax |
| Did spring
cleaning in the morning for one classroom. We were supposed to clean 2
classrooms, but we decide to slack and clean only one...haha....no lah no
lah, kidding. The second classroom was locked lah...hehe. I did nothing
much...cleaning the windows that's all. When Mdm Yeo came into the class to
spot-check, she immediately discovered the dirty corners of the walls and
windows. She also claimed that she is experienced in this kind of cleaning
stuff... Actually the classroom in overall was already very clean liao, much
much cleaner than the other rooms in the same block. So we were
considered very lucky today! Chem lect after that...we were (a bit) noisy, which made Holy blast her ultra-blaring voice thru the mike. It was so deafening lor. Some ppl covered their ears while she screamed away. Then she put down the mike and shouted...it was as loud as when she is using the mike to lecture! Ppl started to giggle...-__-. At that instant I pity Holy lor, she tried very hard to control the crowd but yet they laughed at her voice...haiz... Anyway I conclude either she's very sensitive to slight noises or we are a bit noisier during her lecture. Dunno what happened to me during band prac...made a lot of mistakes, played a lot of wrong notes, gave the clarinet section a very bad light...maybe some ppl will think how come the section so lau ya... Played Hearts and Bridge after that, my first card game after a long long break, I admit I'm getting dumb dumb already. How can I forget such basic rules? Shld I visit bbo again? What's the deal with Tam Beng Beng? Why so many ppl like to tease her or sth? Is her lecture really so amusing? If I'm not wrong she's the one who invigilated us for the fm promos (she knows nuts abt the graphic calculator so I assume she doesn't teach fm...). I still remember last time I was giggling away at Ms Kwee's lecture...the way she talks is sooo comical! |
| 20 October Wednesday |
| Cards |
| First period was
Student Forum, for students to comment and clarify their doubts abt the
school admin and facilities. Most ppl asked abt the 5 day week thingy which
poses inconvenience to many ccas. Personally I dun mind resting on Saturdays
and being busier on weekdays cos most of my weekday afternoons at home are
spent on sleeping. Hopefully staying back in school will help me kick the
habit of afternoon napping in the future. Then Saturdays will be solely
spent on playing or studying....yay! That also means I must sleep earlier at
night liao! Recently the entire ct bench wing has become a gambling den or sth. Almost every bench is occupied by ppl playing daidee, bridge and other variations of card games, esp during breaks and after dismissal. Urge to play cards rising.....unfortunately in my class, ppl dun play cards (eg. PRCs, Jialing and company), ppl cannot play cards (eg. councillors) and ppl dun wish to play cards (eg. Wenjia, Shuk In,...). Sigh...no choice but to sit down and mug while others are playing away... And ya, Eesuan has learnt how to play bridge already...maybe next time we'll have a Bridge Sectionals....good idea right? PW is not going to be scraped after all...it's just a rumour. Haiz... But then I heard from Jialing that the amount of details required in the GPF will be reduced. Actually I shld be happy that PW is to remain, cos I want to see the juniors suffer! Muhahahaha..... *evil laugh* Skali there is another rumour that SPA is going to be scraped too... Open House rehearsal this afternoon...the band didn't play very well...expected lah...cos we are not very prepared mah, no warm ups, no practice before that or anything. Aiyah...what to do... Just watched "Ren Wo Ao You"...the show's quite interesting lah...but a lot of bodily exposure. |
| 19 October Tuesday |
| GP and Physics results |
| Heard that PW is
not going to be included in the A lvls and university admission anymore...
Then what's the point of me working so hard??? Argh....I feel like tearing
the PW booklet now! Fine...anyway I've already started liao, might as well
work to the end. Abt 3 more weeks before we say bye bye to PW...looking
forward to it... Let's talk abt GP results first...got 29/50 for compre and 30/50 for compo. Then realised that the teachers forgot to mark the last page of AQ. What stupid nonsense is that? Just becos I wrote another paragraph on the new page the markers refused to acknowledge it. Are they too lazy to flip over the page or what? I can't believe that after marking so many scripts they didn't know the last page can be written with answers too. Students can only send their scripts for review only if there is addition errors and unmarked questions, however we might also get our marks deducted after the review. All because of the teachers' idiotic mistakes, I've to risk my marks? What kind of atrocious logic is it? How outrageous! Nvm...I've sent my compre for review already...I'll continue ranting next time depending on the results I get. Now my overall grade is between C5 and C6 (and most of u shld know what is the significance of C5 in GP). Actually it's ok one, not having a S paper is fine with me, I dun need a scholarship anyway...it's the school's loss, not mine. Shld I get C6 or below I wun go and appeal as if I'm so despo for s papers liddat. I see my sucky GP results I dun think a scholarship can help in any way. Forget abt the crappy stuff abt GP, let's talk abt my physics which has done me proud. I almost tot I would get B for sure judging from the enormous mistakes I've made. Was relieved upon receiving paper cos the teachers gave marks for wrong answers due to Error Carry Forward (ECF). I see the marking was quite lenient too... Hmm..ok, Mr Lee, you've proven yourself and I wun say bad things abt you anymore. Thanks to him, I got 110/137, which is erm...you can calculate yourself... *Hugs Maths, F Maths, Chem and Physics* "I'm so proud of you all..........? and who's this?...GP? Shoo, you pest! Go away! Get lost of my sight! And PW also, go and flush yourself down the drain." Here's a summary of my results below: *Very Satisfied* |
| Subject | Continual Assessment (15%) | Block Test (25%) | Grade | Promotional Exams (60%) | Grade | Overall | Final Year Grade |
| Maths C | 80.8 | 97.1 | A | 96.0 | A | 94.0 | A |
| F Maths | 80.5 | 72.5 | B | 80.0 | A | 78.2 | A |
| Chemistry | 87.1 | 73.3 | B | 82.0 | A | 80.6 | A |
| Physics | 88.0 | 59.5 | D | 80.3 | A | 76.3 | A |
The table is pretty clear, you can see my relative abilities on the 4 subjects. A huge improvement for Physics! Well done!
| 18 October Monday |
| Chem results (What does this colour remind you of? Nothing to do with chem...) |
| Just as I predicted: got one mistake for mcq...so I got
82/100 for the paper, but I'm kicked out of chem o liao. Actually not being
in chem o is quite good also...can spend more time playing these few days,
not so stressful. Glad to learn some extra stuff in chem o which motivates
me to read up further, but I guess it's goodbye now... Anyway Zu Yuan got
the highest in class 86/100 I think, and she's the only one in the class who
got into final chem o team. For those who still think my chem very qiang,
maybe this promo result will prove you wrong. I'm not a supernatural being
who's good in all the subjects lor...I've my own limitations too. Talking abt chem, here are some chem jokes taken from the message board I frequent: A small piece of sodium which lived in a test tube fell in love with a
Bunsen burner. "Bunsen! my flame! I melt whenever I see you" said the
sodium. The bunsen burner replied :"It's just a phase you're going through". Here's one for you to ponder: Lastly check out this site: http://www.enzine.cyborgcow.net/exam/ This student was crapping his whole way through the chem paper. See his response to the questions! Before I go, I would like announce that.... PW SUCKS...BIG TIME! |
| 15 October Friday |
| Maths results |
| The day started
with a lecture by another alumnus (didn't see/hear what his job was)
promoting his book. This is the only lecture so far that is able to
captivate my attention and keep me awake for listening to each and every
word the speaker says. Unlike most speakers, he didn't use powerpoint or
anything...just used his voice. The most interesting thing abt him is that
he likes to niao almost everything. Victims were S71 (I pity them for the
legacy left by their grand^20 seniors), Arts, RJC, women... Fortunately S3
was spared from his merciless remarks though he did mention it at one point.
Maybe I shld learn from him...hehe.... After a long wait, we finally got back our maths, fm results. Got 96/100 for maths c and 80/100 for fm (higher than I expect). I also feel that the markers are a bit lenient...made some (minor) mistakes but marks not deducted...(I think I better not say this if not some ppl will wallop me...) Jialing got highest in class for c maths: 97/100 and as for the highest for f maths...err...I shan't mention the name. (I think most of u already got the 'hint' liao) You see? I'm trying to be as humble as possible...hehe.... For those who didn't score well in fm, dun be sad lah... Like I said before, fm is supposed to be difficult and an average person won't score well in such a tough paper. |
| 14 October Thursday |
| Flu...zzzz |
| Woke up with a
sore throat this morning...tried to drink more water to "swallow" the pain
but no avail. Had a bad flu also...the mucus in my nose is so uncomfortable
that I have to blow it out every now and then. Used up a lot of toilet
paper. The 3 packets of tissue my mom gave me were also used up. Kop some
toilet paper from the school toilet...and was used up too. Tried to keep my
head as straight as possible to avoid mucus flowing out. I sneezed a lot too
and felt extremely worn out. Just taken flu tablets...so feeling very drowsy
now. Nvm...I try to finish typing today's entry first. Today is basically a
eventful but very uncomfortable and exhausting day for me (had to go to
toilet/take out tissue paper so many times). First lecture was Maths, followed by a long break where I went with some friends to SIM to eat. First time eating there after being a tchs student for so many years. Ate a fish and chips meal with 2 drinks and 2 soup for only 4.90! Quite worth it...I was so full that I didn't take the second helping of drink. After the 2 h 40 min break was pw. Intended to discuss more things with my group members but I was so tired from all the sneezing that I didn't have the mood to talk at all. Tried to put my head down to sleep but the mucus kept regenerating within my nose it was so uncomfortable. Then we went to audi to listen to a noble prize winner speak abt science/physics. (some tchs students were there too) So tired that I feel asleep, constantly waking up to blow my mucus. He was talking abt so chim stuff like super fluids...catch no ball. Right after the talk was physics lecture where we watched a second video abt flight. This documentary was mostly on planes...a bit boring to me so I feel asleep at some parts too. Didn't go home after dismissal cos there was a class outing to Marche to spend our vouchers for the best carnival food stall! Yay...I like the food there! Initially there were only 17 ppl out of 24. Then soon Jieying and Shuk In joined in later. $25 was shared between 2 ppl, definitely not enough for such an expensive restaurant. Ate Ham and Cheese Crepe (like stj cos I think it's very nice) and Rosti (fried potatoes with sausage). Just 2 of these already cost more than 12.50 liao...but they were very filling. Felt very bloated after eating...and sleepy too...cos I was still sneezing. Youcheng drank alcohol and his face became red again, like in stj...haha...I guess he's just not 'strong' enough to handle alcoholic stuffs. After the meal, some went to play pool...but I cannot cos I'm in school uniform, furthermore I was too tired to play. Looking forward to the next Marche outing! I want to eat that Oreo cheese cake! Tmr is the return of both maths papers. Wonder how I would fare for fm...maths c shld be ok lah. If I cannot get A then I'll go and jump down the mrt tracks liao. |
| 12 October Tuesday |
| Shift house liao |
|
http://www.geocities.com/littleservbot101/ Remember to save to Favourites or bookmark it after you access the new page! Topcities already down for 3 days liao...I can't stand anymore so I turn to Geocities instead. |
| 13 October Wednesday |
| Lecture Day |
| 4
lectures in a day! Argh...*falls dead*. Actually lectures are quite fine
with me lah, cos I prefer to listen ppl talk rather than to participate in
class discussions during tutorials.....hehe. The first one was by an
external speaker from Institute of Mental Health (the name itself makes me
shudder...). He is a psychiatrist and also an alumnus from the school. The
talk was abt becoming a psychiatrist as well as his experiences with
patients. Being a psychiatrist? Nah...I won't even consider abt it. As you
know I hate crazy ppl (from my past entry) so this profession is definitely
a no no for me. Anyway I think his children are very cute...what a fertile
wife he has! Second lecture on the schedule was Maths...learnt abt eigenvalues and eigenvectors...quite confusing I shld say, esp coming up with so many simultaneous eqns. I already have the trouble deriving the inverse of a 3x3 matrix...and I expect more difficult stuff to come up soon, like vector spaces. There was a two-hour break before the next lecture, so I went with some of my classmates to KAP for lunch. Haven't been eating in McDonalds lately; didn't know that there were 2 new permanent burgers, namely "Nice & Tasty" (sth liddat, forgot the name liao...but I know it sounded very spastic) and "McCheese" (also forgot the name liao...but I know it contain cheese). The "Nice & Tasty" is wrapped by a silver paper, which seems like aluminum foil (maybe it is...). Looks very cool leh...maybe next time I'll go and try...not to savour the burger, but to admire the wrapper. After that some of us went to student lounge (is it still called fish tank? I think it shld be called tiger enclosure instead...) to play carom. From what I heard from teachers and alumni, students like to play caroms in the past. Quite interesting, but a bit troublesome to set up...need to place a board and apply powder to it. The next lecture was physics, where we watched a video on birds. After watching this documentary, I realised how cute birds are...esp the way they tidy their feathers and how they fly. I wonder if the hummingbirds really get tired from flapping their wings so much...25 per second! I dun think any part of the human body can vibrate in such high frequency. (Yong Feng, remember the press-the-calculator game?) Yup, I'm also amazed by how some birds managed to fly with such good coordination, like turning and landing together. Won't they ever collide with each other? The last lecture was on chem spa skill A...just copy, copy and copy. Next time band prac cannot be held on sat liao...which means we will have to set another weekday for our weekly prac. I prefer mon or tues cos I want to leave thurs and fri free for slacking mah...along with the 'long' weekend....hehe. Yesterday I saw 2 mutes in the bus. Both of them were communicating using sign language, but one of them was making so much "Umm umm umm" noise that it attracted quite a few ppl to turn back and look at them. Unfortunately I didn't sit behind them if not I can try to decipher what they were talking abt...sounds very fun to me! Talking abt that, I wonder which of these ppl is the worst to be: a mute, a deaf, or a blind. For me, I think being blind is the worst (which I think I'm going to be if my eyesight continue to deteriorate) followed by deaf (I dun want to live in a quiet world...so scary) and lastly mute (I dun need my voice to live...I dun mind being quiet, which I am since 11 years ago). So what do you think? |
| 11 October Monday |
| Pon |
| Today is not
intended to be a short day, but it appears so to me cos I pon! Haha... First
period was CT session (not exactly CT cos Mr Koh took over) where we did a
80+ qns survey which requires two OMS (or issit OAS? or OMR?). This triggers
me to wonder how those OMS are being printed. They are coloured and not made
of the 'normal' type of paper. It must be expensive to mass-produce them,
right? While I was studying for promos, I can't help but to notice that the
Section A Analysis notes are extremely wasteful. There are so many pages,
yet printed in single sides. Furthermore, we need not use the blank sides to
copy examples most of the time becos the examples are already printed in a
separate set, in single sides somemore! My Analysis file now is really very
thick lor. If all the notes and examples can be compressed together, it
could be thinner than both my phy and chem files. Received my first present given by a friend... Thanks a lot Jialing!...For such a cute Garfield which is as lazy and greedy as me...haha. After that it was the Festival of Sports. What a glamorous name given to such rubbishy event! Festival indeed. I've nothing to talk abt it cos I pon right after it started. |
| 8 October Friday |
| End of Promos |
|
Actually promos already ended
yesterday, today is physics SPA. What an unexpected experiment...a bobbing
test tube on water. Dun really know what is that main factor affecting the
period, so I just assume it is the mass of tube with water, even though I
know there is only one possible mass for it to float vertically on the
liquid if not it will either topple or sink. Heard that the "correct" factor
should be density of liquid...haiz...all wrong liao lor.
Suddenly I feel so stupid... Yesterday I tried to do some qns in the FM paper and I managed to get the answers quite easily. Seems like the paper isn't that hard after all. It's just my stupid mistakes. Hope I can retake the paper again...haha. Can finally play my Star Ocean again...yay! Good luck for those who are still having their promos! |

| Promo Day 5: F Maths |
| My brain cells
are completely dead after the grueling 3 hours in the examination room
trying to squeeze out all my knowledge to answer those bloody tough qns.
This must be the most difficult paper I've ever encountered. For the first
qn on proving, I was already stumped. Subsequent qns were worse...had to do
so many steps and workings just to obtain 4 marks. I think I really wasted a
lot of time. Furthermore I discovered so many mistakes made which I shldn't
as they are very basic. Screwed up the curve sketching qn again, like in the
block test. What's worse, I spent so much time working on the wrong
equation. Sigh... the last question was not very difficult I think, but I
had no time to complete by the time I reached it.
Deducting marks from those blank qns and mistakes....haiz...dun want to think abt it for now. Tonight I'll just memorise the sample answer for Skill A SPA tmr (dunno whether I still got memory space or not...). Then after tmr, I'll prepare to resume my Star Ocean again. I dun want to care abt promos results anymore. I want to live for myself, not for my friends, not for the teachers, not for my parents. |

| Promo Day 4: Physics |
| Argh....Physics!!!
Paper 2 is always sooo time consuming...so many pages...so much blanks...so
many marks. Haiz...still unable to finish the data analysis qn...I realised
it's super easy lor. Nvm...I'll now do my own analysis on whether it is
still possible for me to get an A in Physics or not. Ok let's assume I get
2/3 of the marks for lecture test, which contributes 15% to the final year
score. Got 60% for BT, which carries 25% of the total. If this promo paper
is upon 137 marks total, what is the maximum mark I can afford to lose so
that I can attain at least an A? Ok...I calculated and it seems I can lose
no more than 22 marks. Now, let's see the paper...found 2 mistakes in mcq
liao...4 marks gone. Left abt 15 marks worth of qns blank...that means I've
already lost 19 liao. I can only afford to lose 3 more marks to either
random errors in mcq or structured, which is highly impossible. Sigh...just
hope that my assumption of 2/3 is wrong. If I were to get 3/4 instead, it
might be more possible.
Somehow I think this paper is not as hard compared to block test. The good thing is, yesterday I stayed up till 3 am to read up on thermodynamics, oscillations, electrostatics and DC circuits. And today, all the topics I read came out for structured! Luckily my memory is still fresh and I'm able to do the thermodynamics qn, though I was utterly confused at what I'm writing....whole bunch of eqns and variables...so hard to keep track. However this does not mean my hatred for thermodynamics has diminished. F Maths tmr... Mdm Yeo already told us to be mentally prepared. So scary! Really so difficult meh? Seems that I've to stay up till 3 am for the 3rd time this week. So physically tormenting! |

| Promo Day 3: Maths |
| If I know the
paper is going to be that easy, I wouldn't stay up so late yesterday night
to study lor. (Went to bed at abt 4 am....that means I've only got 2 hours
of sleep) Was a bit blur blur this morning...it's like I've forgotten all
that I had studied liao. Looked at the first qn...inequalities of modulus
quadratic functions...I squared both sides...got a quartic eqn...then
reduced it into a cubic eqn...stuck....cannot factorise....then skip to next
qn. Sigh...so demoralising at first, but little did I know it would be the
one and only qn which I will stumble on. Fortunately everything was a breeze
after that and I began to brighten up. At one point I felt that I was doing
a little too fast, so I slowed down, checking my answers as I write them.
Some of the qns are really a giveaway...so few steps yet so many marks, esp
the application of differentiation ones. Ya...the sine rule qn also...just
apply a simple sine rule eqn and presto! 3 marks give to you. Very cheap
right? I think the JC teachers aren't aware that we are very very familiar
with sine rule since Sec 3. It's in the E Maths syllabus somemore...haiyo.
Overall I think the test is very easy lor...straightforward, very typical,
not complicated, not demanding much, etc...easier than block test. (I think
block test one is also very easy) So what is considered difficult you may
ask? The tutorials lor, lecture tests lor, they are more demanding and
requires a lot of thinking. Perhaps that's only the view of a FM student,
while single maths students might think otherwise. If I were to ask some
Arts students abt the paper today, maybe I'll get replies like, "Wah lao...it's
so damn difficult, I practically skipped every qn in the paper!" or "I'm
going to jump into the MRT tracks tmr."
The bad thing abt easy papers is, what if everyone scored very well and the teachers decide to moderate the grades into sth like...95 and above -A, 90-94 -B, 85-89 -C, 80-84 -D, 75-79 -E...74 and below FAIL! Haha... Anyway I also noticed the design of the cover page of qn booklet is a rip-off from the Cambridge style. Aiyoh pls, it's so kena obvious...dun be such a copycat ok? Physics tmr....sigh...I got the feeling it's going to be quite difficult like the block test...hopefully my intuition is wrong. |
| 1 October Friday |
| Happy Birthday To Me!! |
| The word sure
spreads fast. Though I did not say anything abt my birthday to anyone, a lot
of ppl came flocking to me today and wished me happy birthday. Thanx thanx a
lot...really happie ^_^... Special thanks to Yong Feng who sent the birthday
message last (mid)night...I really appreciate it. Except for a few ppl who
are close to me, I dun really remember birthdays. So I decide to wish all my
friends whose birthdays I dun remember this year, a big fat happy birthday!!
I know it's a bit too late and lack of sincerity....but it makes my
conscience clear (as if it's not clear liddat...ha). I feel bad if ppl give
and I dun return (or I dun give and ppl return). Maybe becos my birthday
falls on a unique day and is easily remembered by ppl. And happy birthday to
Zhaoyang, who shares the same birthday as me...haha... Ok...Chem Paper today. Neither very well done nor very badly done. However the post-paper feeling is much better than that during BT, where I felt very very unconfident of every answer I give. Now, I'm quite optimistic abt my MCQ results (esp after all the time spent in doing practice MCQs...). Anyway I checked already. The electronegativities of O, Cl and S are 3.5, 3.0 and 2.5 respectively. That means O-O is the least polar, followed by O-Cl, followed by O-S which is the most polar. Anyway diagonal elements usually have similar chemical and physical properties, including electronegativities. IIRC I think I learnt that from chem o...hehe. Structured is the part where I worry the most...left a huge part blank. Haiz...I hate the ICl series...can't iodine just obey the octet rule faithfully and stop going around to exhibit so many oxidation states? Chlorine also, but at least its oxidation state is more predictable than that of iodine. Such mischief only give the teachers a chance to set questions like "IxCly, find x and y." Next time if I see such qns again I think I'll just write x = [π(2)^⅓]³/π³ and y = e^(-cos π/2 + lg 1). They are whole numbers wat...why cannot? Free response is ok...except that I spent a lot of time in the kinetics question, despite already knowing the order of reaction wrt to each reactant. (that's the advantage of doing so many mcqs) The organic qn was very fun...just draw a few structures then can get 6 marks liao. The structures are pretty easy to deduce since there are only 2 possible isomers for butane, 2 possible monosubstituted chloroalkanes for each isomer. Just draw all 6 possible structures first and then label them according...haha. Sigh...now I'm starting to worry abt my silly mistakes that I usually make whenever I dun check my answers... Ok, back to my birthday again. Very happy today...just eaten a piece of ice-cream cake n_n. Thank you all once again for remembering my birthday. Hopefully I can score well for chem...hehe. Gotta study Maths liao. But before that, Happy Children's Day!!! |
