April 2004

30 April Friday
Changes
Say Kai was telling me if I want to change my image I must start from my actions first. He told me not wave my hands too much while talking...but I find it hard to keep my hands restrained. Dunno if I shld continue this change or just be my old self.... I'm thinking whether to wear contacts in the future but my degree so high...very unsafe leh.

Mdm Yeo decided to re-elect the CT rep becos of Youcheng's poor attitude and disability to work efficiently. (anyway YC lost the paper flowers for the second time already...which made everybody very unhappy) I was nominated for the post by dunnowho...haha...I think I'm too 'quiet' for that job liao...also I doubt I'll get much votes anyway. Finally, the results were out and Chen Yu became the CT rep while Say Kai became the assistant CT rep. Congrats to them...haha... Furthermore Han Xiao was the new welfare rep while Youcheng became the cleanliness rep liao... From CT rep to cleanliness rep...a bit sad for Youcheng... Btw Kaizhi is the new fac head...dunno whether to be happy or sad for him...but today I was utterly disgusted by his actions... Poor Wenjia.

Didn't play cards today...but went Coro to buy birthday present for my friend. Tmr I'll be going for the VJC funfair...looking foward to it...

29 April Thursday
bridge...Bridge...BRIDGE!
Chem lecture is back to Mrs Tham again...teaching reaction kinetics. Then PE was running. (same as last week) I think I ran slightly faster than last week...but I dun think it's enough to go under the 2.4km 13 min mark.

During break Xiaoxuan and Jieying were saying that I should change my image by wearing contacts, spiking my hair, improving my deportment and personality...then suddenly the wind blew the plate onto Xiaoxuan's arm...haha...her arm was full of rice...haha. Xiaoxuan interpreted it as an omen that I cannot make it one. Quite true lah...changing looks is ok but what if my personality doesn't fit my image? Then it would be very very weird lor. Even if I change, it would take a lot of courage, confidence and time....not sure if I can make it. Ben3 xing4 nan2 yi2...guessed I will grow up like Mr Koh...

During Chem prac Mr Lee was talking to me abt the chem olympiad stuff...and that I must start reading up chem reference books liao...haizz..me too lazy to do it... He also said his class got a lot of enthu ppl who read up so many chem stuff in other books...really stressed lor...hope I fail the selection test...hehe. See first lor...

After dismissal I went to tchs track to watch my senior class ppl run for relay race. Got first for 4 X 100m boys, but last for 4 X 400m girls...interesting race to watch. Realised that Khai Qing could scream really loudly...

After that a group of us went to Coro to eat and play cards at the same time....then some of them left so Xiaoxuan and I went back to the band room and play cards again... I'm too addicted to cards liao...esp bridge...come play bridge with me! Can't wait for the next time to play bridge!

28 April Wednesday
Tests and tests
Next week is going to be hell...Physics test on Monday, Maths test on Tuesday, Chem SPA on Thursday as well as the dreaded NAPFA test! Argh...better enjoy this week while it lasts...

Our PW proposal was rejected...as expected. Realised that the initial plan was full of flaws and out of focus, so we decided to abandon the plans but still stayed with the same topic. Finally with Mr Koh's help, we saw the light and managed to come up with something much focused and manageable than before...all thanks to Jieying!

For the whole physics lecture I was desperately trying to understand the concept of gravitational potential energy...Maths lecture wasn't any better...I was also trying to make sense out of the examples I had copied. To Kaizhi: I'm not feeling unwell or upset or anything...just a lot of things in my mind. As for yourself I think you shouldn't commit to so many things...give yourself some room to relax, then you won't get upset or stressed so easily.

The whole J1 cohort was scolded by Mr Pang, because we were making too much noise when the external speaker was giving a talk about electrical energy consumption. (I think the talk was rather interesting due to the large variety of statistics...but I was busy folding flowers instead...hehe) CT session is soooo boring, maybe becos I'm sitting too far back and cannot see what is going on at the front.

While waiting for band to start I went with Youcheng and Rosemary to Coro to ask abt the address of NTUC headquarters (for their project...). Band prac was merely a practice for those running for student conductors. A few band members (which unfortunately includes me) were asked to play Count On Me Singapore for morning assembly announcement. (what the...August is still so far away lor....) Dun really know how to play the weird rhythms at the beginning of the piece...aiyah...

After prac Xiaoxuan, Elise and me wanted to play bridge but short of one person again...so Xiaoxuan and I went to a classroom to watch the bridge club ppl play contract bridge lor. They all so pro...me also see blur liao...but my urge to play bridge is really rising...   Must.......Play.......Bridge....

27 April Tuesday
Must work harder!
Still remember Boxer from Animal Farm? This is what he said...IIRC. Sometimes I really think that I'm not working hard enough...but after seeing the progress of my classmates I feel that I'm already very hardworking liao. Maybe I'm not working smart enough...I might be doing all the tutorials diligently, but can I really put my work and knowledge to use during tests and exams? I do things too slowly and never fail to run out of time for every test. Chem SPA is coming and I expect myself to hand up an incomplete report again. (like what happened for physics) Maths lecture tests are around the corner too and I doubt I could perform as well as expected. Tutorials might be fine but when it comes to the real thing, everything screws up...esp when I take my own sweet time. Got back GP essay today...26/50...haiz...no improvement at all. Feel like giving up on GP...since I think working harder doesn't make a difference...my English sucks and it will always be, no matter what I do. Today's chem test was ok, except for some minor mistakes here and there. (eg. not showing lone pairs in the molecular shape diagram) Hope everything turns out well.

Last lecture with Mr Lee...haha...dun need to be so nervous liao....but his lectures are kinda interesting....

During PE period we went to tchs terraces again to watch the sports heats. Saw the long jump event where some ppl could jump really far...thought of my standing broad jump... The inter-faculty relay race got not enough runners for s3 so some ppl from my class like Mong Seng, Bing Ye and Bo Sen were asked to participate in the race. S3 took the lead at first when the first runner Zhiqiang ran really fast. Soon we became last liao, as other teams began to send out their strong runners. Then we continued to lag behind for the rest of the race...not forgetting to mention that Mr Lee was our last runner! Haha...was surprised that he actually participated in that race... Didn't stay back to watch the staff race...wonder how Mr Koh and the rest of the teachers fare...

25 & 26 April Sunday & Monday
Sleepy...
On Sunday I replied 2 letters until abt 2 a.m, then today I felt very sleepy. This morning during math lecture Ms Kwee praised us for being so quiet and attentive unlike last Wed. She said that we were more well-behaved after being scolded...which I dun think is the case...more like sleepy and tired instead... Ya, then she told us a story abt man's life...sounds very true...haha.

Miss Wee took over the 3rd period and she gave 'tuition' to some ppl who need help in Chem bonding, in preparation for tmr's test. Har!..I rather self-study than listen to her talk. Went to do my job as a Maths Rep to publicise AMC...entry fee $7.50...so expensive...never handled so much money before...hehehehehe...*evil*  Dunno whether to join or not...but if got PEARLS points then I join...haha.

During Physics lecture Mr Remedios showed us the 'Apollo 13' movie...wah, so magnificent! Too bad I dun even know what the hell they are talking abt...aiyah...ang moh movie ah...cannot watch without subtitles one.

GP lesson changed venue to an air-con room...some proposed to postpone the test while others thought that it was better to get it done and over with. In the end we still took the test. Fortunately the passage is more readable than that PJC one...and Mrs Soo gave us more than enough time to complete it. Now I go orh orh liao...bye bye!

24 April Saturday
Poor Hew Hui
Today is Hew Hui's birthday. I didn't prepare any presents but I wanted to give her something so I bought M&M chocolate from the vending machine in the canteen. (I think she likes chocolates) Everybody was anticipating band prac to end so that they can 'celebrate' her birthday. (and execute their evil plans...)

After prac ended, I saw Mei Siang and Xin Hui taking out a blender machine and started to stuff all the rubbish inside, including vegetables, tomatoes, bananas (with its skin), grass jelly, milk... Then they were blended together to form a super yucky liquid (which looks like the colour of red bean ice cream...) The e3 xin1 mixture was poured into a pail. Meanwhile Hew Hui was waiting *obediently* for her "doom". When everything was finally ready, the girls chased after Hew Hui and splattered tofu on her face and hair. Then Hew Hui was cornered and the pail of yuck was splashed onto her body. That's not all...Mei Siang (I think...) placed the pail over Hew Hui's head and now she's entirely full of yuck. Poor Hew Hui....she seemed so helpless...she didn't even retaliate... Hopefully she had brought extra clothings...

Wondering if anyone will do this to me on my birthday...........Nah, it can never happen.....firstly my friends are not as 'dirty' as the girls, secondly only a few ppl bother to remember my birthday. Dun be mistaken...I'm not asking for it...

At the bus stop I saw the percussion section planning to go someone's house to play cards. So jealous of them...

23 April Friday
Photo taking
Wore Petrina's band t-shirt in the morning. Luckily it is not as small as some other ppl's...gang gang hao. After the anthem and pledge, the school remained in the central plaza for Presidential election voting, and the 4 nominees gave their last speech before the votes were cast. I am not moved by Shi Yang's "I love you all" speech; Cherie's speech was short and sweet; Wei Lin's singing is nice but other than that nothing is impressive. So in the end I voted for Faith cos I think she is the most outstanding (in terms of her eloquence) one among the 4.

Followed up was photo taking session at the field where the students were supposed to jump and cheer. Mr Lee came along and talk dunnowat "enthalpy of photo taking...." crap stuff... (-__-) It was so hot at that time so I seeked shelter in the central plaza. (Pity those who had to stand in the middle of the field...) During photo taking the band ppl were supposed to raise their instruments and smile...then many of them started to lift their instruments as high as possible...I think the trombone is the highest. Saw ppl in the field being thrown up into the air too...

After photo taking there was a short break before lessons resumed. We went to com lab for PW. Then I became very bored and began to do funny things in the com... (dun tell you...hehe)

Last 3 periods was my first physics SPA. Very upset...didn't manage to complete everything...(I never fail to screw up practicals anyway...) I tot I was already quite fast compared to the previous few experiments, but in the end I'm still much slower than everybody. If not for the stupid rubber bung I would have finished everything liao... Ya...and the stupid graph too. Cannot decide on what scale to use. Haiz...first SPA already like that liao...I dun think I will do any better for subsequent ones.

History repeats itself. Yesterday it was raining when I was dismissed, today's the same thing again. Went to find Xiaoxuan to play Bridge again, but this time cannot find anybody to play with us, so no choice but to go library and mug lor. After the rain stopped, Wenjia and I went to Coro to buy birthday present for Jia Ling...hope she'll appreciate it. Wished that someone could buy me that cute little animal pair from the Coro gift shop...hehe. 1 pair for 6.90 only...not expensive lah...haha.

Oh btw the election results are out. Faith is the pres and Cherie is the vice-pres...gals rulz.....................

22 April Thursday
Free periods!
I think Chem lecture is quite interesting today. Mr Lee showed us a video clip abt a gummi bear (sweet made of glucose...I wonder why they have to use this sweet out of so many things) which was strongly oxidised by oxygen. The bear is dropped into a heated test tube and immediately it produces a very exothermic reaction emitting a lot of gas. (the bear was 'struggling' frantically in the test tube...so poor thing...) Everyone was laughing away when they saw the video...so sadist. Soon after, Mr Lee called me up to show my answers through the visualiser...luckily I didn't make any mistakes. Then he allowed me to take 2 sweets! Yay! After that he was talking abt bond energy when he posed a question to the audience. Then he called Mr Pang to answer...haha. Of course Mr Pang answered correctly and Mr Lee told him to take a sweet from him after the lecture...haha.

Next was PE lesson, where we ran 2 laps around tchs semicircle road then back to hc. (my ankle is hurting now..) Very tired. I was supposed to do the napfa training for standing broad jump and chin up but I was very tired at that time so didn't do. During the break, it was known that chem prac was cancelled...that means got 3 free periods...yay! Not very sure why it is cancelled but I think Mr Lee says he haven't finish marking the prac assignments. Tsk tsk...what an excuse....

I spent my 3 free periods in the library, doing Physics tutorial. 2 hours passed and I still cannot finish it...so shi bai... After that I went for FM lecture then dismissal liao! While waiting for the rain to stop, I played Bridge with Xiaoxuan, Elise and Jacob at the top of the stairway...a rather hidden area. Wished the rain lasted longer...

I think Wenjia and Kaizhi are getting more and more lame liao...too lame until I can't even smile...completely speechless...I can only sit between them quietly, listen to both spout nonsense to each other. Find it very hard to communicate with them...

21 April Wednesday
Project discussion
Thought of some project ideas yesterday then wrote them down. Sometimes I find it very hard to work together with PRCs esp when they do not know much abt Singapore culture, like media, which makes it hard to decide on a project topic concerning Singapore. Furthermore they live in the boarding school and do not have their own computer, which makes it difficult to carry a discussion online. Today during PW, my group members started talking abt cartoons (mostly Chinese ones) and I had no idea what was going on. Just hope that they are efficient workers so as to make up for their "inaccessibility".

Jing Zhan has been so obsessed with Bridge lately...I saw him reading the book "Bridge for Dummies" and today he requested Jieying and me to play "Paper Bridge" with him cos he wanted to practise his skills...suddenly I had the urge to play bridge again. Seriously speaking I didn't enjoy the past few times of playing bridge cos of the not-very-conducive environment. Firstly there is always always a time constrain when I play bridge with others. We seem to always have a shortage of time and we keep playing rush games. (Christopher's house...too late at night; 4C classroom...release of O lvl results;  STJ...too late at night; Esplanade...concert preparation) Secondly, we play in fear of being caught. (esp in school and public areas) Thirdly... shortage of players... (Xiaoxuan's house after JTS) Fourthly...uncomfortable setting and surroundings...(Fac chalet...nuff said; Ke Ai Ji...ppl are eating.) I really really hope to have a proper and comfortable game....

Yup...Nicoll Highway collapsed, we all know that...dun need to keep mentioning it (and making fun of it), Mr Remedios....

Today's CT session was abt CIP thingy, followed by an origami session where everyone was taught how to fold paper lillies. (for certain event I think...) Many ppl find it hard to fold but I found it quite easy...and fun too, maybe becos I used to fold origami when I was small. Youcheng and Jing Zhan dunno how to fold...Wei Jian, Michelle and even Mdm Yeo folded wrongly. As you can see, I RULE!...hehe...

After school there was a performance in the inner plaza and I watched a little. Then it was sectionals where we wasted time finding a place to settle down. Lastly it was band prac in the hall...hot and sleepy...Zzzzzz.

Felt a bit sorry for Zhaoyang cos he was pushed from section to section...then he ended up being very lost and having no section to join liao. "Maybe you can consider joining other ccas?"

20 April Tuesday
Presidential Elections Q & A
The first 3 periods were used as the Presidential Elections Q & A for both J1s and J2s in the hall. Didn't know that the hall can squeeze so many ppl. (I think a lot of ppl are absent...) There are four candidates running for the election, 3 girls 1 guy. (aiyoh...tsk tsk) The candidates were posed with many questions but I'm not very interested so I read Chen Yu's lecture notes. Then something caught my attention...one girl named Faith (I think) started to talk abt multiracialism then she recited the MRT "Pls stand behind yellow line..." in four languages! Haha...amazingly it sounded quite real. Didn't expect anyone to memorise it...I think she's really too bo liao already... The rest of the school population were very sian...didn't want to stand up when being asked to. After the whole session, it was break...before lessons resumed.

The first half of Chem lecture was a debrief on the spa mock test, followed by the proper lecture. Surprisingly Mr Lee didn't call me up, maybe he thinks I didn't do the exercise again. (so wasted...did my workings so neat for nothing...) Instead of picking cards randomly, he threw the chapteh at the students to decide who to answer the questions. Quite creative...

For PE I tot we were going to run since we were supposed to report at the tchs tracks. When I reached there, I realised it was only the heats for the coming sports event. (Chey...so worried for nothing!) Then the class ended up having to remove the hurdles from the track...aiyoh actually the PE teacher was just using us as helpers. Some seniors came along but I got nothing to do liao so I just went home lor.

18 & 19 April Sunday and Monday
Happy Birthday Yong Feng!
Yup...hope Yong Feng enjoys his birthday as well as the presents! Haha...if no place to put the bears then give me lor...hehe! A bit jealous of you since I never had so much friends celebrating my birthday for me. Even my class also dun care abt ppl birthdays one (Chen Xi raised this today). I really think that the 'class culture' of S34 and S32 is very different. Guess it's too late to defect liao...

Let's talk abt Sunday...I didn't go for the class movie outing becos of the day before...very tired. I heard that a lot of ppl didn't go too so luckily I didn't turn up if not I'll just be wasting my time with ppl of different frequency. At night I watched the NKF show then went online and saw a lot of controversy abt whether there's a trick behind Zoe Tay's knife performance. I think there should be some markings or something on the knife holder so as to ensure the safety of Zoe Tay mah!

Today (Monday) I feel that I 've got a lot of free time liddat...maybe becos got 2 breaks and we were released early for Maths lecture (20 min) and Physics lecture (10 min) and GP. (10 min...cos everyone's too bored liao) Yong Feng came back again and received more presents. Eh...I like that bear very much...so soft so cute...I want to have one of it too!

17 April Saturday
Outing with S32 ppl
Really enjoyed the wonderful outing I had with mostly s32 ppl. (see the pics above) So nice and friendly bunch of ppl... Haiz...how I wished I were in s32 at first...

After the slacky sectionals, I went with Jin Hin to Coro to buy present for Yong Feng...teddy bear lor. (I think next time buy presents go Coro better cos I think the stuff sold there are much nicer than the ones in my neighbourhood shopping centre.) Then I quickly went home, prepared some things (birthday cards lor) and set off to Marina Bay MRT.

I was slightly late but Yong Feng and Jin Hin was as late as me also. Zhaoyang, Chan Swee, Yu Fan were already there. Then Xinling and Sixun arrived. Then Zack arrived. Gave Yong Feng the teddy bear...now he has 2 liao...(hope someone will give me the same thing for my birthday too...) All except Yu Fan were unable to squeeze up the first bus...haha. Luckily the second bus arrived shortly and brought us to the food centre. First time eating steamboat with friends...hehe. I did very little cooking, but eat a lot...hehe. Jin Hin and Zack were very helpful...kept taking food and drinks for us. Not long after we started eating, Yu Jia and Jacqueline came, then Yu Jia started to share all her 'cold' riddles...cos very hot mah! Then Zhe Han came...glad to see him then I won't feel so odd liao. We let him guess who is who...and tried to confuse him also...haha. After the long meal, we took a group picture before we leaving. Lucky got the auntie help us take if not I would be out of picture liao!

Dunno who suggested to walk instead of taking a bus back to MRT station. It was a very long walk but at least it provided us the time to interact with each other while walking. Felt hot and sweaty. Then Yu Jia was talking abt a head under her bed or something. And Zhe Han said he appreciates flute players the most and flute is the greatest instrument blah blah...*ahem* at Xinling...

Finally we reached the station liao...it was late so everyone went home. Hope there'll be another outing like this next time...hehe.

16 April Friday
First proper Friday of this term
Last Friday was Good Friday, last last Friday was council elections...so today is the first proper Friday of this term lor. GP presentation was abt Christianity and Islam...felt that what Jingzhan said was very informative. (But not much coverage on Christianity) It took almost the whole period as well. After that was PW where we got into our groups and discuss. Couldn't think of much idea yet...and other ideas proposed were common and not very unique. Haiz...still have a long way to go. Mr Koh said that the class was more serious during PW than in Maths tutorial...hehe...A lvl mah!

During both Maths tutorials, I was busy doing polynomial assignment. Then Kaizhi said I very hao lian and stuff...grr...We stayed in the same classroom during the break after that. Say Kai was screaming like siao...haha...practised too hard liao... Then it was Physics prac where I sweated a lot cos need to keep bending down. Heard a lot of marbles drop... The data was so irregular too...

After that I went with Xiaoxuan and company to Coro where we ate together with Kaizhi, Jieying and company. We played cards too... (table so oily) It seems that Kaizhi already offended me many times...

15 April Thursday
Upset...
What a tiring day...First period was Chem lecture. Mr Lee randomly picked up a card and Kaizhi was chosen to present his answers for the lecture examples on the visualiser. My class became shocked since most of them (I think all of them) did not do the question at all. Kaizhi also didn't know what to do since the ppl around him also didn't attempt the question. So he just took his lecture notes to the stage and it was...blank. Unexpectedly, (a bit kind of expected though...) he called my name! But I also didn't do so he called mong seng...still a negative response...

At that moment I felt very dui bu qi Mr Lee...cos he had a rather good impression on me and he had expected me to show a good answer. (That's why he called me) Yet I have disappointed him by not doing his lecture examples...felt really bad... However I have a burning question: What makes him have a good impression of me?

The lecture continued until Mr Lee told us to do one example on the spot. Then he went up to the seats and scolded Da Wei (I wonder if Mr Lee had anything against Da Wei? If not why would he come up all the way just to scold someone?) After scolding him, Mr Lee came to me and asked, "Why you didn't do?" I was speechless...didn't know what to say...then he told me to present that particular example on the visualiser! What? I became a bit anxious and quickly attempted the question. Unfortunately, I mistook the question...liquid here liquid there...finally Mr Lee had to show the workings by himself cos I took too long to do liao...Haiz...I disappoint him the second time...

After lecture I felt really very bad. (while Kaizhi felt embarrassed...) No face to see Mr Lee during prac liao...

It was PE at the swimming pool. Some took their test while others went do pull-up and other napfa stuff...with our swimming suits. After all that exercise, we went into the small pool and play around. Kaizhi was gay-ing Say Kai...and some ppl tried to "carry" each other...haha. Then we played Water Captain's Ball. I didn't play cos it was too chaotic liao...

10 min before the next lesson start, Xiaoxuan invited me to play bridge. (for dunnowat reason) then Michelle was a bit unhappy...

It was chem prac...and Mr Lee asked me why I didn't do the question...again... This time I just said "no valid reason", and shun bian asked him that "burning question". Oh...firstly it was becos of the diagnostic test which I did very well. Secondly he knows Mr Chew TY from Chinese High...what a coincidence! Yuan lai ru ci... Btw he told the 3 of us who didn't do the question, to show our answers for other questions during the next lecture...as a way to redeem ourselves.

Mr Yap released us early during Maths lecture...but I have to stay back in school anyway.

Wenjia and I went to library to discuss GP group work...two of us in the group only...so pathetic. After that I went to the lab to do make-up chem prac with the S33 ppl. I think Mdm Ching is a funny person, very friendly and talks like a typical 'auntie'. During the entire prac, I felt very lost as I couldn't identity the colours and there was no one to ask. (Mdm Ching was busy with s33) As a result I did very slowly then Mdm Ching said to me, "People use 3 periods to do experiment and report, but you use almost 3 periods just to do experiment...aiyoh..." A bit malu leh...so I quicken my pace and heck care about accuracy and anyhow titrate. Luckily I was able to clear up all my apparatus before 33 evacuate the room... What a distracting practical for me...table so small and uncomfortable also...dun want to do make-up pracs anymore...

I went for band to do some recording stuff for 30 anniversary thingy. For the clarinets, only Elise, Jeff and I was filmed. Jeff and I were ok with it, but Elise couldn't memorise the score yet so she was making a lot mistakes along the filming process. (becos the score was too far from her and she couldn't see it.) Then the cameraman said that though she made a lot of mistakes, the notes that she cooked up sounded rather nice too....haha... -__-.

Hope tmr will not be as bad as today...

14 April Wednesday
Performances
A pretty slack day. First period was PW where I knew my group members. (I'm doing with Jieying, Bosen, Ying Ying and Chen Kan.) Quite satisfied with this group already, though some others were "better" while some were "worse". There are 5 groups in the class, 4 grps of 5 and 1 grp of 4. CAP was slack as we chit-chatted with Mr Koh. Then I found out that Mr Koh was once a member in his sec sch band, and  he played the clarinet too! But he said he was sick of the band stuff so he didn't continue in JC. (No wonder he was previously the teacher-in-charge of the band...) (Found out that the boarding school was affected by the blackout too.) Maths Lecture was Ms Kwee again, but I didn't laugh as much liao. Kaizhi was doing some lame and stupid stuff...haiz...something wrong with him today...

CT session is in auditorium, watching some performances to commemorate International Friendship Day. First was the Indian Drums performance where we were introduced to different kinds of drums and heard how they were played. I think the ppl were so qiang....their hands can beat until so fast...and they were quite in rhythm too. Next was a hip-hop dance by 3 dancers...very interesting in the way they dance...quite coordinated. The boring part was the speech by one of the dancers, where he introduced the hip-hop dance styles. Finally it was the Sandwich Making Competition...but I couldn't see most of the sandwiches cos too far from stage liao. Then there was one sandwich being projected on the visualiser which looked like a bacteria at first...haha...actually it was just the colour scheme on the visualiser. I heard that there were dead babies in the sandwich cos the infant mortality rate in Africa is very high...yuck...so e3 xin1. Can't believe that it won the second place...

Yong Feng came back after CT session...then Zhaoyang was so enthu in joining the band. There was no band prac today, only a briefing abt the elections and what is going to happen next... (haiz...one more concert to tackle) Then it was spring cleaning for J1s where I was stoning most of the time...

Midnight
Blackout
Was writing letter halfway when the room lights suddenly went off. Then I realised that I wasn't alone...the surrounding blocks of flats were dark too...even the street lamps by the road were out...so it was like total darkness lor. It was 11.30 pm and my parents were asleep liao, so I woke my mum up and told her abt the power failure. Since the air con wasn't working she just told me to open the room door lor. From the opposite block I saw some ppl already taken out their torchlights. Some torchlights were so strong that it lighted up a huge area on the wall of the block, thus reflecting into my room. Others started to light up candles. I began to take a torchlight too, but realised that it was too weak, so I took my handphone instead.

While I continued to write the letter using my hp lights, I heard from ppl from the opposite block making the eerie sound "Wooo...." It was followed by some screams before someone shouted at them to keep quiet. I looked at the road...the cars were moving slowly through the darkness...even the traffic lights were off...really afraid that accidents might happen. I look across further and saw that the BKE too has no light at all. Of course I heard some cars horning away too.  The LRT broke down and the shutter bus took over. I went outside my house and realised that the lifts weren't working too...wondered if anyone was trapped in the lift...and those ppl downstairs cannot go home either. (unless they take the stairs which is a bit exhausting and scary due to the darkness)

I didn't have mood to write letter liao...it was getting very hot and I began sweating away. So I just walked around with my hp...used my camera and took photos of the 'darkness'. (Wah the flash was really so bright!) My mum also cannot sleep due to the heat. I wanted to listen to radio on my hp but cannot find the proper headset for it...argh. Feel like sms-ing and calling someone but I tot it might be too late liao...moreover I didn't know if this blackout was only in my area or on a large scale. Suddenly I realised how a hp is so important to me at times like this..

1 hour later the lights were finally back...heard some ppl were cheering for joy. I quickly switched on the radio and found out that not only Bukit Panjang area, but Choa Chu Kang, Yew Tee, Teck Whye, Bukit Batok, Bukit Timah, Woodlands also suffered the blackout. (Some were stuck in the LRT too) Many ppl called in the radio and talked abt their experiences in the 'darkness'. I continued my letter then went to eat ice cream (hehe...) before going to sleep. What an experience!

13 April Tuesday
GP Presentation
Finally our long-awaited GP presentation has come liao. Jia Ling was afraid that her speech is too short but it seems that Han Xiao and I has compensated for her. Han Xiao's speech was so long (longer than expected) and I can see that some ppl already falling asleep liao. Maybe her superstition examples weren't interesting enough. Finally it was my turn liao...I spoke for very long too...but I tried to "wake" the audiences up by listing some common and interesting superstitions related closely to our life. At least I can see that some ppl 'seem' amazed. Next was Jieying and Jia Ling who had relatively short speeches. After the presentation was Q & A and my group was bombarded with questions opposing our point on why superstition should not be eradicated. It was a heated 'argument' which we didn't expect cos our group's stand is that superstition should be eradicated to a larger extent. The entire presentation took 2 periods and actually another group was supposed to present on the same lesson too (maybe the purpose of asking so many questions is to stall time?...hehe) I think Jia Ling spoke quite well, despite her claiming otherwise...

PE lesson is gone again... (for the nth time already) We went to hall, see no teacher then went back to ct bench again...I wonder if Zhang Li even bothered to look for the teacher... And I heard from Kenny that NAPFA is around the corner liao...haiz I think I'm going to fail...lack of practice. (btw the class haven't had a proper napfa training session since start of the year)

Wenjia was asking the girls what they like. He said it was for a survey...ya rite.

12 April Monday
Back to school
The start of another new week... nothing much to look forward to except this coming Sunday, which is Yong Feng's birthday (should I give him a bear?) as well as the NKF charity show. (I like to look at ppl doing stunts...whether or not to donate is another matter...)

Maths lecture is taken by Ms Kwee again!! Ya...I like her a lot. I can't stop giggling during the lecture cos I feel that she's just so amusing to listen to...the way she speaks, way she explains, her funny jokes from experiences...haha...it tickles me whenever I hear her voice. The new lecturer for Physics is Mr Remedial (*Remedios*) I wonder if he gives a lot of remedial to his students...and I wonder why he has a "tail" behind his head...

I think Mr Lee is far more better than Miss Wee, the pms queen whom everyday always bin chow chow one. Hope she leaves ASAP... Today Mr Lee was going through practical for only half a period then the rest of the time he allowed us to do other work. He is quite sociable...going around interacting with ppl. (I feel that he seems to have a rather good impression of me, in contrary with Da Wei) He mentioned abt the New Paper article yesterday regarding PRC's impression towards SGeans, and even agreed (did he?) to have a debate on that topic someday.

Very busy now...got to read my lectures that I missed on Thurs, do a bit of journal entry to show Mrs Soo tmr, prepare GP presentation tmr, reply my angel's letter...haiz...

9, 10 & 11 April  Friday, Saturday & Sunday
Uninteresting weekend
I was looking forward to this long weekend cos I tot I will have a lot of time to do what I want. But unfortunately time seems to fly very fast and yi zhuan yan the 3 days are over liao. Other than on Saturday, I was at home all the time, either in front of my com or in my room trying to finish the never-ending pile of tutorials. I realised that I take a very long time to do one tutorial. Maybe I'm not concentrating enough...or maybe I feel sleepy easily so I will lie down on my bed and take a nap every now and then.

On Good Friday I woke up at 12. (expected...due to the night before) I went online until late afternoon where I took a nap till 7, then went online again for a while before starting on my Chem tutorial. Before I realised it, a holiday has just passed like that....what a waste! Btw my bro went back to camp that evening liao.

On Saturday it was slightly better, I woke up at abt 10. Did tutorial until 2 where I went back to school to discuss the GP presentation with my group members. Saw those newly elected councilors having their camp...I think they are even more ke lian...wonder if they are enjoying it... After that I went for a haircut. (that auntie was playing around with my hair...) I went online for a little while and did my tutorial for the whole night.

On Sunday I woke up at abt the same time...did my tutorial until 2 then fell asleep. I feel that I had spent more time on a tutorial than expected. Btw I mentioned "did tutorial" for these 3 days and all of these refers to the same tutorial!!! The stupid Chem tutorial!!! Those questions require so much to answer esp those "explain as fully as you can" type. Spending almost my entire long weekend doing only one Chem tutorial...very the waste of time leh...Either my time management is really very bad or I'm too slow in doing tutorials. Not to forget that GP presentation too...already cracked my brain for 4 hours liao to think of a debate speech...haiz...who ask myself to watch the NKF show while preparing the presentation script...sure cannot concentrate onez...

I think I'm really really very slow in doing things...even typing this entry already took me about 20 minutes liao...no wonder I always find myself lack of time to do things... Ya...and my habit of taking naps too (even when I am not sleepy)...100% waste of time.

8 April Thursday
Beyond Boundaries @ Esplanade
In the morning I reported to school per normal and went to settle some work before going for band. After playing for morning assembly, the band members went to the street soccer court to gather, waiting to board the bus to Esplanade. Soon the bus arrived. I saw the saxophone section playing cards in the bus, so me, Jeff, Elise and Michelle started to play too...until we reached our destination. At Esplanade, we were led through a labyrinth of dressing rooms (can get lost one leh) to reach somewhere just behind the concert hall. No one has the keys to the dressing rooms yet so everyone just set up their instruments for rehearsal.

I was amazed by the huge hall...abt 5 storey high leh. The stage is stepped, the audience seats form an arc in front of the stage with a block of seats in the center. (the audiences can occupy up till the 4th storey at the arc-seats...very very high up. Those must be the cheapest seats...$11 dollar one...) Then Elise told me that there are seats just behind the stage too (not backstage) and those are even cheaper than the $11 ones. One thing good abt those seats is that the audiences can look at the scores, conductor's face, and other things that ppl in the front cannot see. During rehearsal Mr Lim the conductor was having 'pms' and he shouted at the brass players. We did not play very well during the rehearsal I think.

After the rehearsal the rooms were finally opened. The guys took a room that is abt twice as large as other dressing rooms cos it is a suite...haha. (got sofas, coffee tables and piano somemore!) The band was released for a 5 hour break. My section went to eat at a food court in Marina Square where I felt cheated after buying the food cos the serving is so small. After that I played cards with Xiaoxuan and others at the space below esplanade (like after stj) while the girls in my section went bowling. We played cards there for a while until we realised it is wiser to play in the dressing room to avoid being caught. So we went back to the guys' room to play (cos it is bigger) until about 5.30.

Then it is the changing time. After that I went to play cards again, at the corridor this time. Soon it was dinner time and I quickly took the chance to take a lot of photos with my new digital camera. We ate in a place within the dressing rooms area which looks like an alley. After dinner we took a section photo. (seems like Xiaoxuan is becoming a member of clarinet section liao) Finally it was abt time the band go up the stage liao. The band tuned on stage and then waited for the concert to commence while the audiences made their way into the hall. The concert started a bit late...

The band played and played and played...no major screw ups...but not very impressive either. Then it was over liao. After keeping my instrument I played cards again... Then the tchs band ppl came along and gossip abt the hc band ppl. (didn't know guys like to listen to scandals too...) Soon the band went out to the stage again for curtain call, present token of appreciation blah blah. After all was over which was abt 10.15, everyone began to disperse and go home...

Btw my brother returned from NS tonight, with a botak head...hehe. The house is so messy...all the army stuff strewn around. Too bad he'll be going off again tmr...so ke lian...

7 April Wednesday
Physics Test
My first job as a Maths Rep...collecting order forms for graphic calculators. I went around asking for them during PW lesson and some ppl already hand up liao, some ppl forgot to fill in, some ppl forgot to bring, some ppl lost their forms...so ma fan! Mr Koh was presenting a powerpoint on PW and I only listened a bit. Then CAP lesson was slack cos the class got no Newsweek.

After break was Physics test. I think it was rather easy but dunno why I still make a lot of careless mistakes...I stumbled on a lot of questions (mind-block) and had no confidence in my workings...Luckily there was more than enough time (1 hour a bit too long) so I can still finish it. Hopefully can get 75% lor...

CT session was abt PW. (so fast got A lvl question booklet liao!) Then I was either daydreaming away or talking to someone else. At 1.45 the band and choir members were supposed to leave early for some sort of filming but as soon as we went out of the audi, the teachers called us back again cos PW is important blah blah... (ya rite...I'm not listening at all lor!) Back in the audi, those teachers spoke a lot abt stupid stuff all the way until 2.15 then release. I joined in the band, then warm up...went to the central plaza (aka the frying pan) for dunnowat ppl to film the band playing college song and Zhi Wei Na Ai. I was standing at the corner so it's easy to get "pai-ed", but not as bad as being focused by the camera (like some girls...) or having a microphone at the back... When filming ended, the band ppl gathered outside audi for briefing on tmr. No prac...yay!

Will only be in school tmr morning... Hmm...a 5-hour break...what should I do during that time?

6 April Tuesday
Muggers
Nothing much happened today...Mr Yap was showing his card tricks again, and telling jokes too. There was a presentation on globalisation during GP. It was so chim that I fell asleep, then Mrs Soo woke me up with a poke of her pen on my arm...so embarrassed... The PE lesson today was pushed foward again. (yay...but an extra break popped out on Friday before phy prac...haiz) Fortunately the teacher didn't come so no PE lor...hehe. After that was mugging session where me, Saykai, Jieying and others mugged at the bench preparing for the physics test tmr. (hopefully the test is easy, and I can finish in time...)

4 & 5 April Sunday and Monday
Must catch up...
I spent yesterday (Sunday) trying to finish what I shld have finish by last Sunday. Feel like starting on other tutorials but the topics haven't finished teaching yet...Vectors is rather simple...

Today was another lethargic day, except for the very lame (literally) Wenjia. During Maths tutorial we elected the "new" committee members. Youcheng and Chen Yu still remain as the CT rep and assistant CT rep. Btw I'm the Math rep. (Analysis one...so I'll be working with Mdm Yeo... :S) Met Yong Feng again during his weekly visits (I dun think he'll come next week...) then went for band prac where the section ate ice cream again...but there's too much cannot eat finish so let it melt lor. (I think we need to have a section fridge next time...) Then nobody want to eat liao...so wasted.

3 April Saturday
Combined band prac
I'm supposed to go for some symposium today but since I got band prac I'm excused...hehe. Today we had band prac for the whole day from 9am to 6pm...so tired...my lips are peeling off liao...

In the morning there was sectionals first, where the hc clarinetists practised separately from the tchs clarinetists. (maybe there are too many ppl) Jolie and Daryl joined in to watch too. Then there was full band prac where Mr Lim conducted...boring...except for the solo saxophonist whom I applaud for his bravery to stand in front of the band and play his part from memory. Xian Wei also came in the bandroom to watch, which made the tchs clarinetist seniors very surprised. Soon Justin came in too. (dunno for wat...I tot he got nothing to do with the band liao...) This time ALL the clarinetists were surprised...both tchs ppl and hc ppl... We were given a 1.5 hour break before we another full band prac in late afternoon, conducted by Mr Yeo. Some hc ppl went along with the tchs section but some bigger section like clarinets went separately.

The 2nd half was more interesting becos of the more interesting pieces (I like Fate of the Gods the best among the 4 combined pieces...esp the quick part) as well as the pro solo marimba player who wow-ed the all the band ppl in the room. (I wonder if his hands will ever get tired...) Btw I dun like the timpani...so loud...overpowered the melody lines, smashed the drum until our ears deaf liao... Then Ms Lam/Mrs Chan went in the room and I think she looks prettier than before.

I think I'll miss lessons on Thursday becos of the performance. Lucky the next day is Good Friday! Yup...someone from hc band is a contestant in the Miss Singapore Universe tonight. She's Bridgette Leong btw.

2 April Friday
Council Elections
Wore my new hc uniform to school today :) Some ppl say I look nicer with the new uniform while Xiaoxuan said I still look as 'toot'. (maybe it's just my face...) Material so thick...very hot...sweating away...First 3 periods were council elections where the nominees were given a Q & A session about what they will do in council. Some answered very well while some just gave a superficial reply and some do not appear very confident of themselves. (Hmmm...the questions posed were interesting too..) This was followed by the voting...and my choices are Kaizhi, Jieying, Samuel, Rosemary and Zack. Then there was 2 periods of break where I mugged a little.

During Physics we had a spring SPA mock test. (so unfair how come they always didn't inform us abt tests one??) I wasted a lot of time tying the strings and setting up the apparatus. I think I did very badly for the test...forget to write units...no time to write precautions...wrong answering technique...Somemore I realised ALL the tests that I took before (spring test, lecture test, mock test...) are included in the continual assessment grades which carries 15% of our whole year results! Nvm...I dun intend to top the class anyway...I've been doing well for my academics for the past 10 years...maybe it's time I do badly...

Friday used to be the most sian day becos of the long lesson hours plus PE. Now it has become one of my earliest day. Unfortunately there was band prac with tchs band. Unfortunately again, I've got extra physics lesson till 4 pm. After that then I went to the tchs bandroom...where everyone was already seated liao...so awkward to move in between the chairs...

Everything is still the same...the place is so cramped...smell stinky...ppl so busy chatting away when conductor's talking....conductor still as boring and bochup as ever. Met some of my old sectionmates who wondered why I played 3rd. Then they left Elise and me to play everything...so slack...then we anyhow play also lor! The sound was horrible...out of time....out of tune...out of balance...yuck. Then after the prac, a lot of ppl from hc were complaining away...haha...(Hew Hui found the tchs boys, esp those midgets, very cute...) Haiz...tmr still got prac from morning to evening...

When I returned to hc, I saw the elections results liao...all the five that I voted for got in...YAY!! Haha...very happy for them...esp Rosemary who attempted very hard despite being new to the school. To Kaizhi and Jieying....must jia you hor! Dun forget your S34 friends hor!

Today my brother went to serve the country liao...will only be back on Good Friday. A bit lonely ah...but shld be able to get used to it. Hope he enjoys his stay in Tekong and the BMT!

1 April Thursday
April Fool's Day
Kinda expected to be fooled by someone...but somehow everyone very guai...didn't play a joke on me. Today during Chem lecture Mrs Ho kept talking and talking without stopping to shut ppl up, and surprisingly the students also kept very quiet (what a contradiction!) Then for PE we had a swimming test. (I took the lowest proficiency lvl) I think it is really simple lor...I passed the test without any difficulty. (Or is it that I've improved?) Finally Youcheng plucked up his courage to swim the 50m one and he passed the test too. And those who took the proficiency test when they are supposed to take the intermediate one...tsk tsk....

During break Jieying and Kaizhi gave out their folded grasshopper to the whole faculty...(made of leaves, sprayed with gold or silver paint)...with individual names too! (so xi4 xin1...) Ya...not forgetting abt the lollipop too! Then Xiaoxuan act lame and used it to swordfight with other grasshoppers. After that was Chem spring test, where the 2nd intakers were very lost and didn't know how to do. When Mr Lee took over we played a very fun game called "element buddies" where we were supposed to find many partners representing a particular element. He then called for "Hydrogen" and my partner was Han Xiao. That was actually used to do some pair work thingy...but I think it is really very creative!

I ate the lollipop during Maths Lecture despite Mr Yap saying that no eating is allowed in the LT. I was caught at first but I continued to eat during the break...haha) After lecture Zhaoyang came to find me abt the band thingy, he said he want to try out the intstrument. Back at the s32 bench, I took my scores out and Xinling taught Zhaoyang music theory. Soon after the bandroom is opened, I taught him how to play the clarinet. (he's quite a fast learner) I think he has made quite a good improvement...first practice already can play a scale liao.

Council elections tmr...already tot of who to vote liao...I think I'll also be wearing the hc school uniform to school tmr.
