Merry Christmas 2008!!!

Best wishes for a season of giving! As we celebrate the birth of Christ, we are ever thankful for the life He gave us. Without His exemplar life, redemptive death, and miraculous resurrection, the grandeur of His birthday would not be what it is today. It is my hope that we will find peaceful moments within these busy winter days to reflect upon God’s greatest gift to us.

Some thoughts: We are ever grateful for the many friends, family members, and relations who buoy our spirits and lift our hearts. We have been blessed with good health and safety, and hope to meet whatever challenges God sends our way. We have often felt His guiding arms. We are grateful He is patient and forgiving, and we try to be these things. We pray we may be His helping hands, as we wish for peace to all who suffer. We find joy in God's wonderful creations, for which we are forever indebted. We celebrate Jesus, His birth, life, death, and resurrection--because of His divine intercession on our behalf. What a wonderful time to live in! There is so much good around us. We hope to always use our time wisely, and to speak only words that lift and inspire. Hopefully, I have left a few here.

BRIEF BIO:

I (the mom) was born in San Francisco, along with one younger brother. We lived an hour south from the time I was three, until I attended Brigham Young University in Provo. My interest in design prompted a drafting class, which led to a computer drafting class. This enabled me to work at Singer-Link Division in the Bay Area for one year. After a break for a fun semester at BYU Hawaii, I then worked at Lockheed, also for a year.

I met my husband, Mark, in a church play. He worked in CA during the summer of 1980 while attending Utah State University as a business major. We moved to Logan where I packaged cheese for a year until our son, Levi, was born. After graduating from USU in 1983 and the birth of our daughter Brit, K-Mart took us through three moves to Texas where our second son, Sean, was born. The convenience store business brought us to Las Vegas the following year where we bought our first home, and enjoyed seven years, including two more daughters, Emma and Hope.

Missing his family and rural life, Mark brought us to Utah where he has been in manufacturing since 1993. Our son, Ford, was born in 1995, and I fell in love with small town life. Finding a larger home nearby in the country, we moved to where we have enjoyed an acre and a large assortment of animals. Our seventh child, Cade, was born in 1997.

Our two oldest sons served two-year Mormon prostylizing missions. Levi served in Tennessee and Kentucky beginning in 2001, and Sean served in the Hawaiian Islands beginning in 2004. Sean attends Utah State University and also works as an in-home caregiver. Our oldest daughter, Brit married Kelsey in 2004, who is an orthodontic student in Phoenix. They are the parents of two little girls, and expecting a boy in November. Our oldest son, Levi, a graduate from Weber State University in Design Graphics Engineering Technology, married Camille in 2006, who is also a Weber State graduate. Our second daughter, Emma, a cosmetology graduate, who also nannied in Chicago and London, married Stephen in 2008, a Computer Science student at Utah State University. They will be new parents at the at the end of the year with the addition of a baby girl.

I am on the advisory board to our county's literacy program, and have been an elementary school reading volunteer and aide. My success in teaching our youngest child to read prompted me to write a book about it, which was published in 2007. Over the years adjustments have been made by each of us to accommodate those we love. We find joy in family, friends, service, and worship, and I feel very blessed, indeed.
