Sitting in silence with nothing to say
I look straight ahead as you look my way
I then get the courage to look at your face
Making sure that I smile so that I efface
You look back at me and I try to deny
Could it be I just saw that look in your eyes?
It says that you now how I feel within
It says you dont' know just where to begin
It says you are grateful that I am nearby
Just then when I saw that look in your eyes
I have my head down with my face out of view
One moment I'd rather not be looking at you
Taking deep breaths and saying a prayer
Hoping through all of this you weren't aware
Then you pull back my hair to find out why
And I look up to see that look in your eyes
It says you're concerned if I am okay
It says that you care in a certain way
It says that you'll stay right by my side
That moment I saw that look in your eyes
The time has now come for me to depart
I can't shake this feeling inside of my heart
As you give me a hug you say in my ear
"I'm gonna miss you," and I fight back tears
I glance back once more after we say good'bye
And you smile at me with that look in your eyes
It says you'll be strong whenever I'm weak
It says it's okay when I cannot speak
It says you don't mind if I just need to cry
Whenever you have that look in your eyes
