| Brett Lee will travel to the world's largest sports research facility in September, where he will undergo a number of extraordinary tests. The trip to the Gatorade Sports Science Institute in Chicago was organised after Gatorade signed the Test speedster as a client last week. In Chicago, Lee will: - Be tested for hs rate of gastic emptying, which shows how long it takes for fluid to leave the stomach and enter the intestine. The quicker the better for an athlete. - Have a cardiac stress test, otherwise known as a VO2. - Undergo an electrolyte loss test. If too many electrolytes are lost while swesting, this can lead to severe cramps, such as those that affected tennis star Pat Rafter. "All of these factors influence an athlete's performance," said Gatorade's Sports Marketing manager in Australia, Josh Black. When Gatorade's head office in Chicago was informed that its Australian counterpart has signed a fast bowler, it was initially excited at the prospect of analusing a champion tenpin bowler at the institute for the first time.
