Tom Road Campsite

Tom Road Campsite

March, 2000

The Tom Road Campsite is on the Bibbulmun Track about 300 kilometers from Perth. I accessed the Tom Road Campsite by first driving to Bridgetown and then going west along Graphite road for about 19 kilometers. To my dismay I found that ordinary traffic was banned from going north using Austin Road and so I took Donnelly Drive to Gregory Road and found where the Bibbulmun track crossed that road. It was easy to find.

The Tom Road Campsite is perhaps no further than 50 meters off Tom Road, but maybe there is a gate there, I didn't go that way.

I got to the Tom Road Campsite too late. It was too dark for my photos to come out. Its a nice spot, set by a river, that no doubt you could swim in and catch marron in.

The forrest canopy was so dense that not a lot of light reached the ground.

Burnt bits of bush.

A colourful piece of fungus in this hollow tree

This tree was so big that I had to take 3 snaps of it and join them all together.

This Karri tree just went up and up and up into the air.

Gettiing close to the campsite, the 22 steps. It was getting dark too!
