The Brookton Campsite as part of the Bibbulmun Track is one of the most popular due to its accessability from Perth and its short and easy walking distance. The track seems to also be one of the best maintained. It is flat for most of they way and probably accessible by wheelchair.
The Brookton Campsite, close to the Brookton Highway, is perhaps the easiest of all Bibbulmun Track campsites to get to.
The car park is very plainly visible on the Brookton Highway. There are nice big signs saying 'Bibbulmun Track'. Overhead power carrying cables cross the road at that point. It is about 30 kms from the point where the Brookton Highway joins the Albany Highway in Armadale.
The walk is easy too, no big slopes at all, a fairly gentle slope all of the way. The first part of the track to the campsite follows the road that runs under the power cables, and that isn't very interesting.
After about 600 meters the track cuts off into the bush onto a lovely winding track. Later the track joins up with an old logging track - not really interesting either.
There is a sign telling you that there is one kilometer to go to get to the campsite and the campsite is signed 'Brookton Campsite'. a usual feature as all campsites are well signed.
All campsites have good toilet facilities and reasonably good water - if you don't mind drinking the odd mosquito larvae.
The campsite coming into view, just behind those trees.
My mud map of the area. Not far from Perth at all.
The inside of the campsite.
Here is the campsite - that wasn't a long walk at all.
