Katherine Ann "Kathy" Busch
1982 - February, 1990
On February 17, 1990, 7 year old  Kathy Busch knocked on her neighbor's door asking for food, as was common for the children in her apartment complex to do. Everyone knew everybody. The man who answered the door fed let her in and fed her chips and macoroni and cheese as she told him that she used to live in that apartment. The man nodded. He then beat her, raped and sodomized the little girl who weighed under 60 lbs. He then stabbed her in the back of the neck with a kitchen knife, which bent. He went and got a stronger knife. a dagger,  and stabbed her at the base of her skull. He later said "I didnt want her to suffer when she woke up."  He told police he had not removed her clothing till after she died. He also said he had tried to drown he in the toilet of his apartment. He then wrapped the little girl in a blanket and sheet, put her in a small cardboard box, and put her into a dumpster behind a nearby drugstore. He called police the next day to confess. That man, Floyd Allen Medlock, was convicted of her murder, altough he claimed to suffer from multiple personality syndrome, and claimed that a man named "Charlie", not him, had killed the little girl. The judge called the crime "was especially heinious, atrocious, cruel" and that if MEdlock were ever released "no women or child would be safe." he also said "the murder was both torturous and serious pyshical abuse." because Kathy weighed under 60 lbs, and Medlock weighed well over 200 lbs and was at least 6 feet tall, she was "severly and savagely beaten". Kathy's size was obvious because of the size box he put her body in. Despite that Medlock insisted she was dead when he raped her, a medical examiner said that she had definetly been alive when she was raped and sodomized. Kathy's pants had been completely ripped and torn to shreds. The judge said that despite that he was mentally ill, the severity of the crime outweighed that. He was sentenced to death by leathel injection, (a punishment not severe enough for the crime, but the best that could be done under our constituion, which forbids cruel and unusual punishment, although the way he killed that poor little girl.....im gonna stop right now before i get myself into trouble) and in January, 2000, 10 years after he killed the little girl, he was put to sleep. Her grandmothers were divided on whether or not he should die, one saying that "hes getting off easy. id like to see him suffer in prison." The case was featured on Dateline shortly before he was put to sleep.
