Isn't this just where we met?  And is this the last chance that I'll ever get?
- Josie & The Pussycats

The above lyrics, from the
Josie & The Pussycats Soundtrack, sparked a debate between Andrew and I over where precisely on the bottom level of the Wentworth cafeteria we met.  He thinks it was somewhere in the middle, but I distinctly remember him standing against the wall.  Considering that my memority is undoubtedly better than his (he can't memorise entire conversations ;)), I'm quite convinced I'm right.  Predictably.

Anyhow, as a result, I decided to set out in an attempt to remember where precisely I met a great deal of the people I know.  Let's see how many correction emails I end up receiving. ;)

(In 'If we were all TV people' order...)

Andrew: lower Wentworth cafeteria, about 3 or 4 weeks or so into uni, 2000.  I'm pretty sure it was near the wall, near one of those poles.  And Saru, Iyer, Gerald, and Haran were all there too.

Iyer: a week or so before I met Andrew?  The middle of the lower Wentworth cafeteria.  It was a rather brief meeting... he just turned around and said "Hi, I'm Andrew."

Carmen: sadly enough, I can't remember.  I'm guessing sometime in year 8, in some classroom or another.  But we didn't become friends until year 10.

Anuja: also met in year 8, in some classroom or another.

Christina: term 3 or term 4 of year 7, in the Anzac Quad.  Christina was being unsociable and reading a Sweet Valley novel (#100) and I asked if I could borrow it, and she said 'no', because she was lending it to Cybelle.

Irem: the first day of year 7, when we were in the same (out of school) gymnastics class.  The teacher asked us what we'd done that day.
"I started school."
"I started school too."
"Which school do you go to?"
"Sydney Girls'"
"Me too!  What grade are you in?"
"Year 7"
"Me too!  What class are you in?"
"7S"
"Me too!"
And the teacher thought we were crazy for being in the same class and not knowing each other.

Emma: year 5, when she was alone in the playground and Alex Howe and I asked her if she wanted to play with us and she said 'no'.  And then again on year 7 orientation camp, when we became friends because we both liked singing and laughing about that boyfriend Lucy Clevedon made up.

Lauren: year 8, because she was friends with Christina.

Menike: year 8 Latin.

Lexi: I
think it was when she came to my 16th birthday party.

Kate: in 1998, when she wrote me a letter about how much she loved my lameass fanfic stories.  She was afraid that one as 'cool' and 'intimidating' as myself would make fun of her, but I assured her I was just as pathetic as she was.

Liv: just before uni started, after I commended her on her performance on Ugly Phil.

Anna: year 8 maths.

Kat: when we went to see
Arcadia and we agreed that one of the girls in it was really pretty and looked like Andrea Corr.  But we didn't meet properly until the 'Twelve Guys & A Lesbian Night', when we concocted stalking plans by attending each other's lectures, and went clubbing, etc...

Carls: on the 'Twelve Guys & A Lesbian Night' when we went to her house with Kat, and the sleazy American guys were there, Carls was really drunk and she told me she loved me and that I was really sweet and cute (no, she was
not the lesbian in the title ;)).

Chantelle: early on in media, it was before I met Andrew.  Probably 2nd week, when I sat next to her in a lecture (I remember it was a really interesting one), and she told me that her boyfriend liked Katie Holmes and Britney Spears, but she made him take the posters down, and I thought she was a little crazy, because she looked like Katie Holmes.

Ariadne: at the beginning of second semester 2001, when Chantelle and I were lunching and Chantelle ran into her.  She impressed me with her high levels of ambition. ;)

Sarah D: Early on in 2nd semester of 2000, when we went to BBs for coffee.

Sarah B: Late semester 1, when we were walking somewhere with Lexi, and Sarah made some comment on how she was the 'perfect size 10'.  We met properly on the first day of semester 2, when we met before English, walked there together, and she probed me on my lovelife, despite the fact that we had only just met.

Jun: On the first day of science in year 9, when we arrived at the same time and consequently sat together, the beginning of a long and beautiful friendship, despite the fact that I was a bit pissed off that she'd insisted Ms Ross give us an extra music exam in year 8, robbing me of my 100% average and desired prize for topping the grade.

Brendan: semester 2, in Manning, when he and Carls bounded over asking me if i would sing on the bus tour they were planning.

Anne: The law tut party I gatecrashed in early semester 2, 2000.

Ben: Karaoke Night, June/July 2000, when he said he liked Mandy Moore, and made some funny comment about how we should write 'no tip for you' on the sugar Iyer and I had spilt over the table.

Schmempsie: Karaoke Night June/July 2000, and then more properly at Halloween 2000.

Simon: the Halloween party.

Jess: About June/July 2000, when she ICQed me over my lovelife difficulties.  We didn't speak again for a few months, until she revealed my identity to Simon from the MMMB (long story there) and then started to speak rather frequently when I our lives took very similar turns.

Ben D: sometime in 2000 when Andrew and I were bugging him about our future band, and then properly in February 2001, when we had our first proper rehearsal.

Buffy: on the first day of semester 2, 2000, after our English lecture.

Carolyn: semester 1, 2000, when she came to sit at the Scooby-Gang table.  I seem to recall talking about horoscropes.

Emma P: On the '12 Guys & A Lesbian' night when she gave me mean looks because I was in a hyper mood.

Creepy Andrew: On the '12 Guys & A Lesbian' night, when
he told me that if he was a lesbian, he'd hit on me too.

Melissa: semester 1, 2000, just before a media tut, when we were dragging extra chairs into the room.

Katherine: semester 1, 2000, apparently on the same day she met Carmen, she tells me. ;)  I actually remember our second meeting better, when she impressed us with her astute personality analyses, and told us the
real reason guys are fascinated by lesbianism.

Of course, there are many more people, but the problem lies in me not being able to remember specific meeting moments.  So there we go, my boring list of the places I met variou people. ;)
