About Us
On the border between Wildwood and Wildwood Crest is a little bit of Italy with a lot of heart. This is Little Italy Restaurant: fine Italian dining in a relaxed seashore atmosphere.
The Sanzone family and staff are delighted to serve you. From antipasto to dolce (desert), Little Italy offers Italian favorites and house specialties with a flair all its own.
For those with hearty appetites or who just want to sample the best Little Italy has to offer, start with one of our tempting appetizers. One selection not offered at other Italian restaurants is right on our menu here: broccoli rabe, sauteed with garlic, olive oil and marinara sauce. For the very hungry or the undecided, try the appetizer sampler: fried mozzerella, stuffed mushrooms, clams casino, fried calamari, and garlic bread. I can think of no better way to start off a meal!
There is a hearty House Antipasto, which combines roasted peppers, artichokes, prosciutto, sharp provolone, Genoa salami, and imported ham for a platter for two. Little Italy always offers Zuppa del Giorno (soup of the day) as well as clam chowder.
Deciding on the main course presents a special challenge. Will it be Farinaccei (pasta), Pesce, Carne, Vitello, or Pollo? There are always choices.
And choices within choices.
For instance: pasta. There is a full page of pasta specialties, all served with complimentary salad and bread. You may select from five choices of pasta topped with nine varieties of sauce (vodka sauce is a tasty and unusual selection). But there are also five varieties of homemade pasta, such as ravioli and gnocchi, also available topped with any of the nine delicious sauces. Baked pasta? Lasagna, stuffed shells , and eggplant parmigiana are among five tantalizing selections.
For the truly indecisive (and truly famished), Little Italy offers the "Tour Of Italy": ravioli, gnocchi, spaghetti, and stuffed shell served with one meatball and one sausage.
Pasta specialties (and there are nine of these) are especially created for Little Italy. Among these selections are Penne Alla Giovanni, which is penne pasta smothered with white creamy sauce with broccoli, red pepper, sun dries tomato and grilled chicken breast, and Penne Ai Mare and Monte, penne pasta served with swordfish and eggplant in marinara sauce. Unusual? Yes. Delicious? Of Course! Or try the pesce (seafood) with your pasta. Pescatora is a wonderful selection: a combination of shrimp, scallops, clams and calamari in a red sauce, served with your choice of pasta.
Entrees with and without pasta also abound and are served with complimentary salad, bread and vegetables of the day or a side of pasta. Little Italy offers five flounder selections, all served with Italian flair; two shrimp entrees including shrimp parmigiana; and swordfish, scallops, crab cakes and crab imperial. Meat lovers can indulge with a 12-ounce New York strip steak, tender filet mignon, or center cut pork chops, all cooked to order. For the best of both land and sea, try Little Italy's Italian Surf and Turf: succulent shrimp and petite filet mignon served side by side.
With either Vitello (veal) or Pollo (chicken), Little Italy really outdoes itself. Both veal and chicken are offered as cutlets, parmigiana, marsala, picante, or saltimbocca alla romano. The Veal Alla Vincenza is especially light and tasty: tender, milk-fed veal is sauteed with butter, fresh tomatoes, lump crabmeat, mushrooms and herbs in a wine sauce. Again, these entrees are served with complimentary salad, bread, and vegetable of the day or a side of pasta.
One additional specialty is the Little Italy's willingness to accomadate its patrons. If nothing on the menu strikes your fancy (impossible as that may seem), their chef will be happy to please you as long as you can provide the recipe and they have the ingredients.
Although there are no alcoholic beverages served here, diners are welcome to bring their favorite wine or other beverage. Non-Alcoholic beverages are available, including expresso and cappucino. Still room for dolice? Your server will be happy to entice you with Little Italy's selection of freeshly baked Italian pastries and cakes. From start to finish: That's Italian!
