History
Youth til age 11
Marilyn grew up in a loving family. Father, Charles, married ahead of his class to outrun his family past. (Snape family) and help his kids future. His sister is Snape’s mother. Marilyn grew up in a wizard world but her mother was born a Muggle (still she was a witch) and was well aware of the differences. Her father regularly invited Snape over, as he and Marilyn were the same age. Marilyn and Severus because close friends and he often confided in her the horror of his home life. Marilyn tells him she’s a Parseltounge and he promises never to tell as is would upset her father. They both get their Hogwarts letters but Snape is afraid he won’t get to go due to financial reasons. Marilyn pleads with her father to adopt Snape and send him to school. He refuses but sends his sister money to send Snape to school.
Schooling 11-19
Marilyn is sorted into Huffelpuff and looses touch with Snape as they both makenew friends. Marilyn befriends Lily in flying class (she’s average at it and is paired with Lily). Lily introduces her to MWPP. Marilyn is only half interested, not enjoying Sirius’s family heritage. Blacks and Snapes don’t get along. She reconnects with Snape in Potions class (she’s not very good at it and he partners with her). MWPP see this friendship as an advantage. Marilyn ignores Sirius and James and moves on.
In her final year of Potions (4th year) class students are to make a reversible
Fountain of Youth potion. In Snape’s rush to get it done, he forgets the step that will make it reversible, but as this doesn’t change the look of potion, no one knows. When Marilyn takes it and doesn’t change, or appear younger as she is supposed to in their case, the professor fails Snape, unable to reverse the effects. Marilyn will age to 19 but won’t physically age older than that. She doesn’t blame Snape but is still a bit hurt.
Life goes on and Snape pulls father away as he becomes closer to Voldemort. He
begins to ignore Marilyn, hoping to save her, as they are close and that could be used against him, causing her harm. Marilyn begins to get closer to Lupin, Peter and Lily. She graduates with Charms honors and begins a career with the Department of Magical Education.
Adult
After graduating Snape realizes how powerful Voldemort is going to be and urges Marilyn to leave the country. She complies and moves to America to teach Charms at a school. She tries to keep in contact with Snape but he ignores her hoping to keep her safe. Eventually Lily even stops writing and Marilyn looses contact with England as her parents are dead. Her mother died of an illness and her father shot himself. Her brother joined with Voldemort early on and Marilyn was banned from contacting him, not that he would write back. A few weeks before James and Lily’s death, Sirius and Remus write to Marilyn telling her all that’s been happening. They did it for Lily as she was ordered not to correspond with anyone. Marilyn feels she should return to help and quits her job to fly home.
